I meant for the Archie hire in like 2017, poster made it seem that Quinn drove the ship on that one and hired a guy from a list Glass put together. I’d be interested in seeing who else was on it -

It was mentioned on the Discord that Glass but together a list, then Buckner hired Archie. Do we know who else was on that list? -

I’m in the camp that if he’s good enough for OSU, forget the “let him cook for 5 years”.He has the same # of FF’s as Pearl, just pull the trigger and hire May, cheaper buy out so can probably be easier to convince boosters, etc -

If OSU gets May and we stick with Woody, that’s the straw that will break my back and I’m going to find a new team or stop watching all together -

Some professional teams have this. When Zion entered the league they had him work with an expert to teach him proper gait mechanics. He had to relearn how to walk essentially this was to help prevent some injuries. -

*** The TLDR, I'm just an IU fan example, CJ Gunn's shot is terrible, in 5 seconds of looking at him I can tell that he has piraformis syndrome because his feet at 45 degrees outward, he also has rotated femurs which is putting a lot of stress on his patella tendons in his knees putting him at risk for ACL tears and ankle injuries. Which means when CJ Gunn gets set for a shot his feet are not pointing towards the basket, the wrong muscles are firing, and he's shooting off balance with his feet not pointing to the rim, so his shot % is way lower than it should be. To answer your question... You would have to be willing to basically unlearn most of what they taught you in PT school. 90% of Physical therapist's or athletic trainers are trained to be retroactive and prescriptive. Meaning, Juwan Morgan tears his shoulder, then we do these 5 exercises to build his strength back over X timeframe. That's fine when its a standard simple injury. and easier when its upper body However, body's are dynamic and when a person is injured the over-compensation usually leads to muscle imbalances and you NEVER want to add strength to dysfunction. In today's world, there is a new wave of Posture, gait, manual manipulation, and dynamic neuromuscular physical therapy / athletic training that aims to fix postural and gait issues in a more proactive sense. I don't have proof, but I don't believe IU has anyone like this, or anyone thats an expert on staff. I think Garl's been there 100 years at this point. If a buildings foundation is off by even a couple degrees the thing can collapse. So in a hypothetical example, Juwan hurts his shoulder, now his back muscles are stabilizing the shoulder joint, that tightness in his back pulls his pelvis out of alignment and now he's more susceptible for a lower body injury. its all connected. This year, I'm sure XJ added strength to dysfunction walking in a boot for so long, we didn't have the correct staff in place, he overcompensated and injured his opposite foot this year (pretty sure it was the opposite foot). Look at the technologies that a program like IU can use to achieve less injuries. I'm not sure IU has any of it available to their staff, nor would know how to use any of it. (the 3d mapped gait analysis treadmill that measures foot weight distribution as you run is top of the line): https://nydnrehab.com/who-we-are/our-game-changing-technologies/ I've been to the Colts/Pacers doctors, and met the man responsible for why the combine is in Indianapolis, they are great at what they do, but they don't do this. There's one man in Indiana that I've found that I would recommend for injuries, I'd go to him 100 times before I would go anywehre else and he runs the postural performance institute in Indy: https://www.yelp.com/biz/postural-performance-institute-indianapolis A bad trainer will put in an orthotic in Greg Oden's shoe and ruin his career. (Extreme but it happened real life example) Here's an example of a great trainer evaluating Keyonte Johnson, who has a similar lower body to CJ Gunn: https://www.instagram.com/posturepro/?hl=en Here's info on Piriformis Syndrom: https://www.spine-health.com/conditions/sciatica/what-piriformis-syndrome -

so even if we hire a new coach, we still don’t have the staff in place on the training side, I could be wrong, but I doubt it. -

There’s a sort of a new wave of athletic training / physical therapy that deals with dynamic neuromuscular function. There’s an instagram Called PosturePro and on their page they do an evaluation on Keyonte Johnson. I would bet a ton of money that our athletic training tools and staff are stuck in the 80’s. you can go really in depth here and do eye training for right eye / left eye dominant players to help them shoot better with a hand in their face. I was shaking my head in 16-17 when OG tore his ACL because I knew he shouldn’t be out there after he tweaked his knee on a dunk like 2 games prior. I literally told my friend he’s going to over compensate and tear the acl, unfortunately he did. XJ’s foot injury this year was most likely preventable with the proper equipment and experts in place. But its not as simple as hiring an “athletic trainer”… it’s a specialization within PT, and it’s probably 1-10% of the field or less. There’s only one man I’m aware of in Indiana that’s an expert on the subject. if anyone is interested I can go into serious detail using CJ Gunns lower body as an example of how he’s prone to lower body injuries etc. and I’m really in the camp the training staff doesn’t know the difference between a sneeze and a wet fart. When Lebron was suffering from back pain that almost stopped his career, he found a guy similar to to what I’m explaining. I always talk on here that IU has no foundation. This is an example of that. -

Just curious.... A lot of people wanted Crean gone in 2014, but the buyout of $10M+ was constantly floated as the reason we couldn't make a move if we wanted to... Now, seemingly Dolson can buy out the football and Basketball coach, and it seems possible that IU might have $8.5M a year for a new coach... Walk me though why Fred Glass unable to buy out any of the football and basketball coaches and land a huge whale, where as Dolson seems extremely capable? -

Think about this: Mike Davis - 1-29 and 357th in Kenpom... Probably fired, not likely to land another head coaching gig Kelvin Sampson - Banned from coaching for 5 years Dan Dakich - Out of coaching / Unable to land a head coaching gig Tom Crean - Out of coaching / Unable to land a head coaching gig Archie Miller - Not looking good at RI / Probably unable to land a head coaching gig Mike Woodson - Probably fired / Probably unable to land a head coaching gig THAT IS 5 OUT OF OUR LAST 6 COACHES WHO ARE LIKELY UNABLE TO LAND ANOTHER HEAD COACHING JOB. I'm not sure any other school has that many just utter failures as coaches.... Its truly remarkable -

Going to be existential here: The universe has been giving IU opportunities to become great again. I don’t think IU listened to any of the signs because the guys running the show were too ego driven (Freddy, Aussie, etc) We have and will have the opportunity to be good again and I don’t sense the poor ego with Dolson which would prevent us from seizing the opportunity… I think Dusty May is a sign we’ve been given and I hope we seize the opportunity… my gut tells me Pearl isn’t coming here, and it’ll all work out in the end -

Such a shame he has demons. -Reggie miller said he had the best practice he’s ever seen -I think He had his teams sleep in the ballrooms to help build teamwork and collaboration when prepping for their opponents -he used to host fireside chats on YouTube -he hosted a students only bball game in Texas volleyball arena -I’m sure there’s more positives on the basketball side Without the demons he would be a perfect fit for the Fanbase…. -

Woody is so bad that beating Holtmann gets Holtmann fired, thus leading to his own firing.
