Fred Glass Retiring

Seeing it on twitter, hearing it on JMV, and even my friends are starting to speak up via text. Once people hear 7 missed tournaments in 11 years he becomes hard to defend. Who is responsible for the hiring and firing of the AD? is it the board of trustees, or McRobbie? and when would a move be made (if a move were to be made)? -

If you're Jurich, do you self report? (NOPE) Was Jurich the one ordering the Strippers. (NOPE) Guilt by association is a Dangerous Fallacy. He backs his coaches to a fault (as long as they're winning). There is empirical evidence that Jurich is a great AD. He's made some amazing hires, he's a winner. Now look at Glass' Body of work. In his 11th year IU has not had a single winning football season and will miss its 7th out of 11th March Madness. -

Just think if Fred Glass hadn’t been convinced that Crean got a 4 year honeymoon. We fire Crean in Year 3 and hire Brad Stevens:. and we still get Zeller. Instead we are in this mess years later. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Has anyone actually heard of Glass is in Jeopardy of losing his job? I know Dakich today on the radio said that former IU greats have texted him saying Glass needs to go. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

True. Crean also needed another 3 point shooter and a big man. His roster management included cutting Matt Roth and replacing Pritchard with Hanner Perea, quite possibly the worst moves of his coaching career. -

IU will never have a homerun hire in bball or football with Fred Glass as the AD. Convince me otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I think that If the reason we stink is in fact that this is a rebuild due to lack of talent and poor chemistry, then absolutely Glass can be blamed for this year’s failures. Glass held on to Crean for far too long and created this mess. The writing was on the wall for the trajectory of the program starting in 2013-2014. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

So what you’re saying is that glass has no actual power or control over the athletic programs? Not coming at you, and I mean no disrespect. But That sounds like an excuse. Good AD’s are Good AD’s regardless of their BOT. If Glass really cared he would find a way. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

It seems as though the BIG is the best when IU is the best. Maybe that's why no BIG team has won the Tourney since 2000. IU has been a roller coaster. -

What has he done that any other AD worth their weight would have not have done? Greenspan was just as good if not better at capital projects than Glass. -

10 years is a large enough sample size. If past results are any indicator of future performance I would say by 2028 we still have 0 winning seasons and have made it a total of 8 times in 20 years. -

Didn't Crean kick some players off the team coupled with failing to retain all of the ones previously recruited? So I think he should take some blame for having to play all the walk ons (Not saying 100%). I'm just saying he isn't blameless. Progressively better? Those teams the first 2 years were bad. In year 3 we were just as bad, maybe worse considering we underachieved. So in looking back Crean had 3 awful years and then happened to have landed Zeller, he has 2 great years with Zeller and then 3 out of the next 4 seasons are Missed Tournament, First Round Loss, S16 and Missed Tournament. His best team was the 2011-2012 team. So really I don't think his teams really improved all that much. Without 1 player his record would be abysmal. Glass couldn't fire Crean because Glass singed him to that ridiculous extension. Our AD should also be able to make decisions without asking for approval. -

The program being in ashes is a Fallacy pushed by Crean to buy himself plenty of time with no expectations. By his third year he could have fielded a competitive team and instead he went 12-20 and 3-15 in the BIG (Losing one more game than the year prior). IMO without the Zeller commitment, he gets fired after 2012. The BigTen Championship in 15-16 and the UK win in the tourney was nice, but I would gladly have traded that in for a gamble on a new coach after the 2013-2014 season. For example if we hire Archie after the 2013-2014 season we have a chance to recruit some top Indiana talent and we wouldn't be looking at missing the Tournament for the third straight year and going through a "rebuild". Had Glass just pulled the plug when he should have, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today. Imagine this roster with Kyle Guy, Kris Wilkes, Romeo, Rob Phin, et al. Now that's a title contender. Crean stayed way too long and once we see his results speak for themselves after 8-9 years at Georgia, then hopefully everyone can look back on his time here and say, "Yeah, he needed to go sooner" Such a poor decision by the AD. The writing was on the wall based on both coaching philosophy and roster management, it was evident in 2012-2013 when Crean "Creaned" Matt Roth and Ron Patterson in favor of Peter Jurkin and Hanner Perea. Ya I get the counter argument, but a lot of the fan base thought he was a fraud. -

I wonder what Glass was thinking when he had just signed Crean to the extension of a century and then we played a Brad Stevens coached Butler team that year while we were ranked #1 and got beat. -

This season was not a rebuild or a “serious rebuild” a month ago when we were in the top 25.. we lose 7 straight and our AD claims it’s a “serious rebuild”... how fluid are his expectations? Does he not set goals at the beginning of the year? Was his expectation to begin with to miss the tourney? Because everyone’s expectations were to make the tourney. He is in charge of both football and basketball TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. He is such a coward for passing the blame on Crean at such a public forum hoping that no one holds him accountable for the results. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I'd like to see if this increase has been the standard across all universities over the same time period, just as our capital projects have. What Fred Glass has been doing is taking what Rick Greenspan started (with the capital projects) and used it as a diversion from actual sports results so that he can have a good powerpoint when talking to the board of trustees... He's up there selling himself with "look at how great of a financial angel i've been to the sports programs".. I'd bet 10 out of 10 other AD's would have have the same financial success with better sports success. I would really like a change. -

Who is on the board of trustees? and can we find out whom are for McRobbie? and then can we get the addresses or emails of those people so that we can voice our concern?
