How far away is IUBB from being elite again?
southernindianahoosier2 replied to southernindianahoosier2's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree. Virtue signaling this superior morality at the cost of winning anything. My friend worked for the IU foundation and said her team had to actively hide any big donations to the School from McRobbie, he would try to get involved and people would pull their funds. -

1. The cut or "Fit" is out of touch with the current styles. At one point IU was rocking sleeveless style where the current trend was the spaghetti tank 2. The stars on the back just make the uniform look dumpy 3. The Adidas logo breaking up the piping makes the uniform look non symmetrical 4. Why do we have 0 alternate uniforms???? 5. Why do we have 0 collabs? IU Could easily get a collab with Aimé Leon Dore, Noah, or Kidsuper 6. Where's the script Indiana Jersey? 7. What about a throwback Cream colored Jersey? 8. Look at the IU shop, I dare you to find the powder blue quarter zips, or orange shirts the football teams wear?... 9. We talk a lot about IUFB... Wheres the cross-collab LEO jerseys? 10. Why is there no LEO swag available in the shop? I couldn't even fid a shirt. I'd buy a LEO skull cap or bandana... NOPE don't exist outside of the players. 11. Why can't we have a fun Bison Mascot on an alternate uniform and the side of the pants like Kansas and the JayHawk? 12. Does IU not get a portion of sales from IU Adidas merch? I tried to buy a quarter zip on the shop for christmas and couldn't find anything. I checked purdue and they have 9! thats 9 pages of swag with like 6 quarterzips to choose from. 13. I was at the Arizona game and almost all of the swag was from the ancillary shirt companies like homefield, or shirts with the Bison.. Why is IU not capitalizing on that? 14. My buddy played D1 tennis and said that their swag was night an Day to IU's... 15. Even if Nike pays $3m less on a contract.... Don't we receive a portion of the sales... wouldn't 9 pages of Nike IU swag make up the difference there? -

Not saying better uniforms beats Kansas today… saying IU taking care of the small things like uniforms is anecdotal to how elite programs are run… fix uniforms and we get better recruits? Maybe 18yr old kids esp those that are under privileged like myself at that age, free SWAG was a huge deal. do you disagree? -

Issues with Woody running players through the wringer in practice, which is hurting the team? Heard that rumor today -

Seems like there’s a huge disconnect from the fan base and the administration. Mainly glass for so many years… seems like Dolson has fixed some issues (scheduling)… but student section placement, uniforms, practice facility, and others seem to still be there. I know he just chocked his fiancé, but Chris beard had a students only game at the Texas volleyball arena last year, has fireside chats, good uniforms, new arena, built an amazing practice facility while at tech…. Why is it so hard for IU to even keep up? I’ve never seen a team miss this many open looks… don’t think it’s a Woodson issue yet… but could be searching in his 4th year if this continues -

not sure if its been stated already... but can someone with insider info elaborate on what the skeletons in Beards closet were and why we didn't go after him? Same issue, or something else? ... Like what info was available a few years ago? Also looks like I have to change my profile pic -
Big Ten basketball is a mess

I also want to point out that I think B10 schools let coaches stay for way too long... take too long to fire and they usually make poor hires... maybe it's poor hires because no one wants to coach here bc of the style of play..... For Example: IMO if I'm the Iowa AD, I'm letting Fran go after this year. Here's why... He's never made it out of the first weekend... If I'm Iowa/Minnesota/NW/Maryland/Nebraska... I'm hiring Matt Langel as the 44yr old up and comer: -

Are they though? I don't understand IU and the B10 in virtue signaling "we play it the right way".. Let it be the wild west. -

Hmmm I get that if you're the CEO and it ain't broke don't fix it / don't mess with whats working... But thats a horrible mindset. A series of short term gains for long term losses IMO.... Leadership is so bad in the B10... -

This makes sense.... If conferences like SEC, ACC, B12 all have their best programs at the very top grabbing the best talent, then that permeates throughout the league during league play. If IU was on the same level of Kansas then I could see IU bringing the whole conference up. -

What's wild to me.... If media.. Big 10 Fans,... Casual Fans... National Media... All know that there are serious problems. Why has no-body at the top of the Big10 addressed them? Not sure if its officiating or style of play... but how has this been almost a 30 year problem at this point? -

Goodman on the Hoosier Hysterics Podcast
southernindianahoosier2 posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I just finished listening to the Hoosier Hysterics Podcast with Jeff Goodman. A few things that stood out to me: -IU maybe could have had Brad Stevens before he went to Boston but they didn't pursue + extended Tom Crean -IU doesn't spend the resources in order to be a top program like Duke. UNC, or Kansas -IU didn't reach out to my top candidate Chris Beard -IU doesn't have the same level of facilities as any other top programs -There seems to be a general theme that IU administration has this holier than thou smugness and moral high ground to where they want to "Virtue Signal" to CBB that we run a clean program and won't touch certain coaches like Chris Beard or certain recruits My question is, and has been for 10 years now. Is this a Coach issue, is this an Athletic Department Issue, is this a donor issue, or is this a Board of Trustees issue? With the right coach - can the coach fight to build a top practice facility in the country, (even if we just spent money renovating the one we have), can a coach go after and change the department to be a national power? Can he get the UK series back? can he fix some of our scheduling issues? Or do these fall on someone else? ----My Opinion based on some conversations with friends is that Woodson isn't the wrong guy for the job, he's just not the long term solution. so we're likely going to be in this scenario in about 5 years when Woodson is 68/69yrs old. -

So 10 missed tournaments in 14 years. 6 straight misses with 3 different coaches. One missed tournament is a coach or player issue. This is a PROGRAM issue. This is because of Fred Glass, no? He has to take full responsibility as he ran the athletic department for a DECADE. There were obvious deficiencies with Crean and Archie in their first year's that never improved. Do we expect that Woodson's deficiencies will be turned around next year? Was this year just growing pains? Is IU doing anything to recognize and fix the fact that a once proud and storied program is no better than a mid-major? We are not even a top 10 Big10 program. -

IU - Fires Crean, Billy D says no Stevens either says no or was never contacted Hire Archie Fire Archie Stevens says no again Apparently all top coaches say no We hire Woodson Miss the tournament 6 years in a row -

Chris, Is it normal for a school like Kansas, UK, Arizona, Duke, UNC, to split the head coaches salary with a booster? This seems strange to me? So Indiana is not an attractive job - did any of those coaches say why they said no? -

Imagine you're IU athletics.... You're Fred Glass or Scott Dolson.. You know you're firing your head coach in 1 or 2 years.... How do you make the job more attractive? Do you PAY up, start facilities upgrades (even if just planned), new licensing agreement with Nike, Better Scheduling, Donors who can facilitate bag boys, and 10 other small things you could do?... Or do you pay an average salary, not make the job any more attractive because "Its Indiana"... Its not that IU isn't attractive because of external factors that we can't control... It's not attractive because our admin isn't making it attractive. BTW.. The head coach of Wake forest makes $2.04M, Woodson makes $3M, Chris Beard $5M, John Calipari $8M. We offered Steven's $10M yr... but he was still owed $30M from his Boston Contract. so its not like he was getting a huge pay raise.
