    Evan Fitzner to IU

You are right...effort means a lot. If he brings effort like a certain kid from Indiana who started at Vermont, then I'll be pleased. I still don't think he's the magical piece to the puzzle so many others seem to be suggesting, but I'm sure he'll contribute in some fashion...if not, then Archie wouldn't have offered him.

I agree, which is why I don't see him as the "perfect fit" like so many others. We have a lot of wings and a couple stud guards already on the roster. I'm not saying his shooting won't be appreciated or he won't have an impact...I hope he does...but if he has a huge impact then it's likely because others couldn't perform to our expectations. He'll likely play the role we hoped Clifton would play (the role Clifton mentioned wanting to play), which was outside. I may be wrong, but I still wish we had landed another "true big" to play inside...if nothing else, to help Juwan, Race, and Forrester in practice. I'm happy for him and I'm sure he'll contribute, if nothing else he'll force more effort from others in practice. However, I don't see him as the big we "needed" to refresh Juwan or play for an injured Davis for lengthy amounts of time.

When someone claims a player wasn't a 4-star recruit when I know he was I will point it out (even though rankings are admittedly subjective). There is no point arguing whether the skills Davis successfully used to manhandle the opposition's defenders during stretches of some very big games is useful in basketball today. It's all good We just disagree.

He was a high 4-star...11th best center in his class...and had offers from Arizona, UCLA, Oregon, Connecticut, Indiana, and others.

Way more skilled than Davis? Wow! If that is indeed true, then count me intrigued as well. People forget that Davis has not had a full, healthy, well-conditioned season in an IU uniform yet. He was at one time the nation's #1 recruit in his class. He made Duke's defensive post presence look ridiculous. Yeah, he has foul troubles and he's easily winded from lack of conditioning and injuries, but Davis is a very skilled post player. If this guy is "way more skilled than Davis", then look out Big Ten Conference! I doubt he is, but he might have more of an impact next year than Davis will. So, I'm all for this addition. I'm just not going to believe he's way more skilled than Davis until I see more.
  6. I am thrilled at the chance to have TJD sign with Indiana...my top choice in 2019. The number of pages on this thread will likely be far less than that of Romeo's, or at least I hope so. If this thread becomes 700, then TJD waited a long time to commit or there was an excessive amount of craft beer being discussed. Romeo's ended up over 700 due to so much mystery and the anticipation of his decision after a long wait.
  7. Note: I didn't read the entire article because I'm not subscribing to do so...but, from what I read, here are my thoughts. The problem with the article is the author is scolding the adults while it was Romeo's choice to celebrate with the fans in the manner which he did. He has been actively (and very generously) engaged with the fans and the community throughout his senior season, and the fans came out to celebrate with him and to offer him support and congratulations. No one knew with any certainty he would choose Indiana. Many were New Albany fans, and they would have been watching on television or online had it not been done in the high school. I think it's an absolute waste of time to write such an article...I hope by coming at an entire community with a vengeful motive helped soothe this poor author's disappointed heart. And, if it didn't...well, then f..k 'em.

(2019) PG - Tre Mann to Florida

I was hopeful Indiana could land him. I love what I have seen and read of him.
  9. THIS BACKCOURT...and a stack of high-quality forwards Robert Phinesee 29.4 ppg 6.8 rpg 5.8 apg 3.7 spg Romeo Langford 35.5 ppg 9.9 rbg 3.7 apg 3.0 spg
  10. I found the same interest. Other lists have IU 9th when that particular site goes by a scorecard and IU was ahead of one team with more points and behind two teams with less points. If they go through the trouble of creating a scorecard, then why bother flip flopping by way of an eye test? Oh well, it doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things.
  11. Nope. I like them too. Your thought on Brooks' response was my thought exactly.
  12. Seems to be a good passer...and he is most certainly "bouncy".

Perhaps I am wrong, but he seems like an upgrade.

(2019) PG - Tre Mann to Florida

Nonstop working...love his game...seems to always be in attack mode on offense and defense.
  16. If he can play alongside Robert Phinisee, then a 6'4" point guard who tweets something along the lines of, "show me where the best players in the state are so I can guard them" is intriguing.
  17. Please allow me to preface this post by stating I am not against whomever the coaching staff sees as a good fit, but I honestly don't understand this offer. Partly because I was clueless as to who this is, but also because I think Indiana has other targets who make more sense. Yes, I know...until the pen reaches the paper coaches should keep searching, but beyond his frame, does anyone have good selling points for him which perhaps I am missing? All I found were a couple so-so videos and stats up to the 1/06/18 mark of this year's schedule. I will admit these stats aren't ample enough to deem him worthy or not...need more info and to do some more research. 19.4 ppg 4.4 apg and 2.2 topg 3.8 rpg 0.4 spg 0.2 blkpg .603 fg% (44-73) .744 ft% (29-39) .455 3P% (10-22)
  18. I've never been to the school, so I'll take your word for it.
  19. Considering your thoughts and vantage point on the whole "brand" is very similar to my own, I will gladly give you some credit.
  20. I agree they won't allow anyone in until after the buses have left and school is out of session, but that isn't to say they'll be able to control what people do. I imagine there will be people parking off site and walking in or waiting in cars stopped by barricades. Who knows? This might be a bigger turnout than anyone has even planned for. Then again, maybe it won't be.
  21. I understand. Victor Oladipo equals my favorite football Hoosier of all-time. Anthony Thompson was amazing and humble...answered every letter written to him by fans...and, in my opinion, he was ripped off from receiving the Heisman Trophy.
  22. I won't lie, I want Hurt...but I COMPLETELY agree TW should be grandfathered in. He AND his family came to nearly every home game (or something ridiculously close to that) his brother played if I am not mistaken. He was at a lot of games...and, as you say, likely far more than any other Indiana high school player we are currently recruiting. The fact they came from Alabama to see Christian play is something else. TW belongs at Indiana like the other Hoosier high school stars. i should also note I am incredibly high on TJD. I would love to see all four, but Hurt, TJD, and Watford would be phenomenal.
  23. With Self likely coaching Hurt I see a major disadvantage. Then again, from what I have read, Calipari coached Langford and supposedly helped steer him away from Kentucky.
  24. Michigan State's issues likely help with Brooks. I believe Indiana is TJD's choice. Watford might be influenced by sharing with him how he can be the second class coming in to bring Indiana back into the spotlight much like his brother did...regardless if Romeo is there when he comes, he could continue the rebuild like his brother did so well. Romeo? Everyone seems so confident, but I can't believe any predictions or inside knowledge about Romeo coming from a login name on a thread. With that said, it does all seem to add up. I think he will have much more exposure playing for Indiana than anywhere else, if for no other reason than it's a fun story about a Hoosier kid staying close to home and impacting a program on and off the court...and we all know people around the country acknowledge this is the land of basketball enthusiasts (or, maybe fanatics is more appropriate?).
