  1. I know the Nebraska game was a tough blow for fans, but at least something positive can be reported here. Juwan finished the night with 17 points bringing his career point total to 1,111. This was good for moving him from #48 on the all-time scoring list to #43. He surpassed Daryl Thomas, Bobby Leonard, Joe Cook, Vernon Payne, and Marshall Strickland. He is now only 9 points from breaking into the top 40. He needs 5 points to pass Troy Williams, 7 points to pass Victor Oladipo, and 9 points to even up with Will Sheehey.
  2. I haven't read all the comments, nor will I likely get around to it. With that said, those that believe Moore is of poor quality and less capable than certain "unnamed players", please consider the fact Moore was the only player with a positive (+/-) last night. Yes, I know that doesn't tell all there is to tell, but it's at least a starting point for measuring a player's impact on a game. Yes, if Fitzner gets on a hot streak shooting again I'll be more in favor of him getting more minutes. Until then, he's not proven anything to me outside of a couple hot shooting nights early in the season that he is any better than Moore. Neither Fitzner nor Moore logged a lot of minutes last night, but with the time given to each Moore once again had more of an impact. I'm not saying Moore will become a great player with more time and experience, but I'm in agreement with some on this forum that maybe it's time he has a chance to show whether he can be or not. Anyone interested purely on a statistical standpoint would agree. Evan Fitzner Clifton Moore Games - 17 Games - 9 Player Efficiency Rating - 13.1 Player Efficiency Rating - 23.9 True Shooting Percentage - .547 True Shooting Percentage - .576 eFG% - .527 eFG% - .700 ORB% - 3.9 ORB% - 16.0 DRB% - 17.4 DRB% - 32.1 TRB% - 11.4 TRB% - 24.9 AST% - 6.4 AST% - 14.6 STL% - 1.5 STL% - 3.5 BLK% - 1.4 BLK% - 4.4
  3. -24 against Maryland +1 against Michigan
  4. Oh, I must have missed that one shot he was allowed to take.
  5. I'm not sure how many minutes he's even logged, but it seems like very few. He hasn't taken a shot yet.
  6. Agreed. One defensive stop was needed. Fitzner is not your man for such a task.
  7. I wasn't censoring anyone. It was a running joke, and that joke had nothing to do with your comment other than you made the comment that sent this thread to 100 pages.
  8. As I said early on, rumor on the streets was that he was waiting for your comment. Thanks for making it 100 pages. We're ready for your final answer now, Keion.
  9. Well, that was tough to watch. I will say nothing more than this tonight. With 14 points, Juwan moves within one point of moving up to the #47 slot with Daryl Thomas. 1,094 career points and counting.

    IUBB @ Michigan - 1/6/19 @ 4:30 ET

Confused only by Mr Smith's comment. Seems pretty naive, considering the only two players capable of creating their own offense that night were Langford and Morgan. Smith has a lot of potential, but he's nowhere close to the play maker Langford and Morgan are. I hate to say it, but he's not proven he's capable of breaking down defenders and scoring at will as the two above mentioned are. I do like Justin's ability to grab boards. As for Smith's comments, I say, "Whatever!"
  11. Tonight, Morgan scored 25 points in just 27 minutes. He moves into #48 with 1,080 career points. He had a couple fouls I thought were a bit bone-headed, but man is he a scorer with a massive will. I was right he would move up a slot in Ann Arbor by doing everything in his power to will Indiana a victory, but he had a few unusual misses under the basket early on, three freebies at the line missed their mark, and he played fewer minutes than Indiana needed from him, so he fell short on what I'm sure was his ultimate goal for tonight. He's a monster, and they hounded him and made him score some very tough shots. To score 25 against Michigan with the defensive pressure they placed on him is a pretty remarkable feat. I hope the tides turn when Indiana meets Michigan in Bloomington in 19 days.
  12. Morgan followed up his triple-double performance with another double-double, scoring 15 points and moving within 18 points of Ricky Calloway's number 48 slot. I have a feeling he'll move up before leaving Ann Arbor. Indiana hasn't beat Michigan since his freshman year and I can see him performing in his beast mode to do anything and everything in his power to will Indiana to another victory. We shall see... For those who care, Calloway tallied those points in three seasons in Bloomington before transferring to Kansas and scoring an additional 458 points his senior season. Had he left Bloomington one year sooner he would have been on back-to-back national championship teams...although, due to transfer rules, he would have been riding the pine to witness Larry Brown coach "Danny (Manning) and the Miracles" to 6 post-season wins and force Dick Vitale to kiss the Jayhawk on the Allen Fieldhouse floor.

I had the same question. I agree he's answered that.

Outside of my love for Juwan Morgan (tough as nails, intelligent on and off the court, driven, humble, hard working, etc) and his effort and success against Jacksonville, the one thing that really started to hit home for me was that Al Durham is still only a sophomore. For some reason, and I can't put a finger on that reason, I seem to forget he's still an underclassman. I do think his improvement from year one to year two (thus far) has been impressive. I'm excited to see this kid continue to develop. I will be the first to admit that when he arrived on campus I was not expecting him to have the role he does, and he deserves the time he's getting without question. What a pleasant surprise in that class.

What will it take to win #6

Thanks for the research and putting this together. I enjoy statistics...I have since I was very young. Putting statistics together the way you have makes it much more enjoyable and fun to think about. It seems college basketball/March Madness has a few variables that relatively few, if any other sport, have and that's the committee placing their opinions, wishes, needs, or forseeable ...all of which can dramatically affect a team's tournament chances (matchups, locations for first round games, seeding, etc). Still, it is interesting (and somewhat expected) to see that there is a level a team can reach that increases their odds in statistically favorable ways. It's also interesting to see Connecticut so low in their championship seasons when compared to other champions on your list. Does this suggest an additional variable...does the ESPN being "hometown" factor in to easier bracket placement? I am only speculating here not knowing what their championship teams matched up against throughout those two tournaments.

Juwan’s triple-double...every play in one video for those who missed the game. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2404084662996165&id=46198039021&refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com%2FBTN%2Fvideos%2F2404084662996165%2F&_rdr
  18. Juwan did it all last night, further proving he is All-American material. He became the second player in school history to record a triple-double on his way to becoming 49th on the all-time career scoring leader board with 1,040 points. Here is a list of this season’s triple-double performers, each with only one on their resume. Jose Perez Gardner-Webb Fr. 6-5 G 13 1 - Tarkus Ferguson UIC Jr. 6-4 G 12 1 - Drew McDonald Northern Ky. I don't think so either. And I wasn't. Archie said he might be out a few games. I just hope Phinisee is not out as long as Race has been, and I'm hopeful he said "a few games" because the staff didn't know much by the end of the game...and it turns out to be a quicker turnaround than Archie suggested it might.

Deron has half as many blocks (8) as Juwan (16) this season in about 1/3 as many minutes. Juwan leads the team. I know Deron had ridiculous numbers in high school, which may have been due to competition (much smaller players??), but he still leads the team in blocks per minute by a good margin. However, he is nowhere near as disruptive as the guys I mentioned (and I can't imagine he ever will be because I don't think he has the athleticism that those other guys do). In his defense, though, I sometimes wonder if he plays too carefully (concerned about fouling) after being called for about 5 fouls per 8 minutes throughout his career (I admit that number is exaggerated, but you get my point). But, yeah, I see your point. I had hopes that Peter Jurkin might become an All-American (based on stats and highlights). Ha!

I miss having guys like a George Leach, Jeffrey Newton, or DJ White on the team who can disrupt an opponent's offense with shot blocking. This kid's shot blocking stats seem ridiculous. I don't like that he is now associated with the Ball family, but that isn't reason enough to not like a player from another family.

Not only did he walk off okay, but he seemed to not want to leave the bench...much less the court. That doesn't mean anything at all, but you asked if he walked off okay. That said, apparently concussions can keep you out for five weeks or longer (based on Race Thompson's absence). Any student athlete who shows signs or symptoms of head trauma must be thoroughly evaluated by the team's physician before clearance to practice or play. Phinisee put his hand to his head like we all have after smacking ourselves against a floor or other object. Because of this (this is a sign or symptom based on NCAA guidelines for concussion protocol), he had to be removed from the game and now he must await clearance. I'm not too confident based on how long IU's staff has kept Race out and after hearing Archie's "pessimistic" post-game comments, but Archie likely only said what he did because they won't (can't) rush anyone back for fear of it being more serious than they realize. But....I know nothing...and that might be because I may have suffered many concussions before too (considering I can recall several times in my life when I placed my hand on my head because it hurt). I hope it's nothing more than the team being careful...and hopefully Archie just mentioned a worst-case scenario because he (and the staff) are still in the dark at this early stage. Fingers crossed.

2 pts and 5 rebs and 1 assist for Moore in 7 minutes 8 pts and 2 rebs and 1 block for Forrester in 7 minutes. I thought Moore played well, outside of one errant pass to Forrester...which Archie wasn't too happy about. However, Forrester was ready for a highlight dunk had it reached his hands. Forrester came out ready to play. Both are eager for PT, and for the most part they played well regardless of their excitement. Anderson played tonight like he was trying to make up for lost time. I believe all three are fully capable of developing into solid contributors in time.

Let's hope it's not as long as the concussion protocol Race has faced.
  25. With 10 points Juwan Morgan moves into the top 50, tied with Butch Joyner at 1,030 career points.
