(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
CrimsonV replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a handful of combinations. IU staff has mentioned Hunter pIaying some two. I think Romeo could play some point too at times. Has potential to be a really fun season. -

What makes you say it made a huge impression? -

Thanks. You are correct. I went back and looked it up. It didn’t come until later in July after some dominos were already falling. Then again, he was also a late bloomer to the big stage. A big thanks to old fart as well. -

Isn’t it refteshing to have a staff working with focus and purpose? Henry was waiting for that IU offer, but it never came. I could see Franklin being in the same boat. Edit: Henry DID get an offer on 7/16/17. -
Please on a PM and thanks

You really making the gears turn with that one. It’s going to be pandemonium if that drops. Daydreaming..... -

That’s some massive news. Just look how smart Romeo looks now. Destiny might have needed a little nudge. Absolutely beautiful. -

One reason for the boost in stats is he is the #1 offensive option whereas on all past teams he was not. He’s also gotten serious about offseason workouts changing his body. There is no doubt the identity of the team leader. I would look for those numbers to continue. Ok I’m done now. Let’s hope we land Romeo and he can blaze his own path as well. -

Vic doesn’t have a chance to be a star. He’s cemented himself as one and not going away anytime soon. Don’t forget about EG averaging around 20 on the best team in the league. Recent history is bright. -

I think you need to take a fresh look. IU has more players in the league than any other B1G school and a franchise stud to boot with Vic. -

Lol. You forgot he wanted to tell Archie in person the bad news. -

Incorrect. IU said they wanted the last chance to talk. The Langford’s never seemed enthused about making another trip. Take it how you will. -

Dad never said he wanted him to take another visit to IU. In fact, the tone during interviews suggested it was unnecessary. -

Reading too much into it? Everything I gave was fact except the last sentence. Unless Vick and Newman make a quick decision in the next two weeks, it’s likely Romeo won’t know either way. -

Tim Langford has said the decision timetable would be in the spring. He’s also said if Romeo knows sooner to make it be known. In addition, Romeo said mid last year that he really wanted to watch the coaches since he wasn’t as familiar with some of them. As the high school season progressed they mentioned the decision would come after the high school season was over in order not to distract from the state title run. This isn’t your typical recruit. He’s very analytical. He booted UNC because he didn’t like how Roy ran his practices. I believe it got pushed back because he truly didn’t know at the beginning of March. -

I recall him saying the “other great players” bit. It get mulled over by everyone for a week. Then he was asked to interpret it and said “all players at the college level are great players”. -

I’ll play here: I have to think when Tim Langford mentioned announcing in a community setting with potentially involving an IU alum in the mayor, IU had to be the leader at that point. Now, this is still a fluid scenario. Could that have changed? Absolutely. Stay tuned. I gleaned a few nuggets from some of the McAAG interviews. When asked about having friends at the schools and specifically DG, Romeo was quick to bring up a similar relationship with RP. It seems when many big time 5 stars are asked in retrospect about why they chose a certain school, it always comes back to coach. The kids seem to take to Drew so he apparently has us beat in the personality department. In one of the more goofy interviews involving topics of who would be the best UFC fighter and best rapper among the coaches, Romeo didn’t hesitate stating Archie for both. This gives some insight into his mind on the competitor of the bunch. Does he want a nice guy coach or one who will improve his game? Romeo has repeatedly said Archie “gets the most out of his players”. Archie has said he will recruit the parents as well and it seems he has succeeded. They have said they will sit down as a family to decide. -

Considering they landed a brand new coach recently would leave it up in the air a bit. With a talent like Taylor, there is no doubt Walter McCarty was going to get a word in. Sounds like that didn’t sway him though according to Nick. -

That writer is a big UK homer. Putting IU in the shitt is part of the gig.
