IUFB Offseason Updates
KzooHoosier82 replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Not a good move in my opinion. Allen seems to be quite a control freak and doesn't surround himself with anyone outside his inner circle who would have fresh ideas. He only wants guys he's worked with in the past. This doesn't help with recruiting, this doesn't bring talent to the coaching room. It's a status quo shell game and a huge gamble. -
If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?

Not sure what’s taking so long. Those guys come in and usually play well. Give em some minutes -
4 Star QB Jack Tuttle transferring to IU (IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE)
KzooHoosier82 replied to monskisprodigy's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I'm on board with this line of thinking. I'll take the wait and see approach with Tuttle. We had a very talented QB transfer here last year only to have him not win the starting job and quit. My concern is that Tuttle couldn't beat out Jason Shelley who's also a freshmen for the QB2 spot and who also happens to be 5'11 and not very good but my optimistic theory on this is that they wanted to redshirt Tuttle because they currently utilize mostly RPOs and when Huntley graduates they would hand to ball over to Tuttle and change up their schemes....who knows...Hopefully this kid comes in with the right attitude and wins the starting role but if not stays engaged and committed to the team to wait his turn. -

Correct. Since he essentially sat out this season he can qualify for a waiver. I'm not sure how often those get rejected. I'm curious to know what Pennix thinks about all this. I have to imagine Tuttle is very talented but lets not forget he was QB3 at Utah when I'm sure the plan was to compete for the starting job. -
It’s official. DeRon Davis, who’s listed at 6’10, can’t dunk

If you think for one second that this team will be better next year sans Morgan, Romeo and Fitzner than the rest of this team plus TJD, Brooks (assuming we can even get them) and Franklin you’re crazy

The lack of basketball IQ on this team is staggering

Phin can’t pick up that foul especially with how awful Durham has been handling the ball against this pressure. Gonna be a nerve wracking rest of the game if Al can’t take care of the ball better. -

Not so fun fact. IU has only won the 3rd quarter once all season which was against Maryland. The coaching staff needs to figure out a different halftime pep talk and second half strategy. I’m tired of seeing this team come out of halftime flat -

Need to step on the gas now. Throw the ball down the field. Stevie up the middle can be shelved for this drive. -

It’s not always what you do but how you do it. He definitely sold it as an accident -

Power move by the D linemen who “accidentally” kicked the ball as the ref was trying to set it. That’s using your noggin -

That was the best open field tackle I’ve seen by our defense in a very long time -

These short kicks are killing us. Why do we want to give it to them at the 40 with 1:32 left in the half??? -
Anyone else see this? What an amazing story. Was always impressed with Deland during his time at IU

Green seems to be pressing. You can tell he knows he lost his job. We need him to progress throughout the season so hopefully he gets it together and let’s the game come to him -
I have a hard time seeing a 4 freshmen starting team who only plays 8 guys going an entire season with no losses. They’ll have bad shooting nights, injuries, etc. Kentucky just isn’t as good as people thought they would be. This is what happens when Cal doesn’t get the top 3 guys in every class and has to fish from the bottom half of the 5 star pool. No one on their team is a first round draft pick and none have any experience.
-
The keys to beating this Duke team start with solid, active team defense. Moving the ball and making them work hard on theier end and getting their guys in foul trouble. It’s going to take the best game we can muster, especially on the road.
-
Just because it’s done, doesn’t make it a good idea. My point is, there’s a better way to do this if you can get the right teams on the schedule. Focus on 150-199 and avoid teams with a higher RPI/BPI and we still win the games, our SOS improves drastically and thus it pays dividends in March. As the selection committee evolves in their selection criteria programs like IU should adjust accordingly to get an edge on its competition
-
Completely agree. I don’t know if it’s difficult to schedule only teams in the top 175 RPI or so but a 15-25 point win over the 164th team in the RPI pays so much more dividends in March than a 40 point win against a Chicago St.
