  1. Second half we need to continue to push the pace. Iowa basically playing with one sub and are gonna get gassed. Garza is a bad matchup for Brunk on both ends of the court. De’Ron/Race time. Just once I’d like to see Archie come out of the half and not start the guys who started the game. You can see who is playing well tonight. Start them and blow this lead up to 30.

Came on here to apologize for jinxing them by choosing to watch the men, but a nice start to the 3rd quarter. Would be nice if I could watch during men’s halftime but BTN+ ugh.
  3. IU has been in the bonus since the 9 minute mark.
  4. Don’t say this very often, but need to get De’Ron back in for TJD.
  5. Iowa’s defense is bad. We are playing well, but their zone defense is a gift. And we don’t usually have a zone offense.
  6. The Brunk/Phinesee/Smith line is not good. Doesn’t match up well. Need to get that changed quickly.
  7. I guess maybe Vegas was on to something??
  8. There’s my guy. I’ll die out on the limb alone, but have said many times, for IU to win we need Green to play. He’s the only guy we have who can do that.

Get it girls. I’m making the choice to watch the men’s game because we SHOULD be able to handle a poor Illini team. Hoping I don’t jinx them. I’ll definitely be keeping tabs on the score on my phone. Bold prediction: Holmes gets 15 and 10.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

Really, 6? That would be hugely disappointing in my opinion. That would likely mean we lost to Purdue, Maryland, and Michigan St. at home to only end up with 6 wins. Maybe last year has me too optimistic, but that would be damaging to our momentum as a program.

Good lord. Maryland beating Iowa by 40 in the 3rd quarter! They are just head and shoulders better than everyone in the conference. We would need a miracle to get to 2nd I’m the conference standings based on Iowa having 3 of 4 left at home against fluff. So it’s looking like IU will see Maryland again if we hold at the 4 seed.

Sooo, Maryland is good. 37-20 over Iowa in the 2nd quarter.
  13. That’s right. I was thinking of Weiskamp, that maybe he was hurt or something. The poster was obviously being funny about Bohannon showing up and deciding to play tonight to beat us.
  14. Usually lines moving this close to game time is because smart money comes in. Interesting. Did someone say Bohannon was questionable for tonight?

Maryland and Iowa underway. Big conference implication game. Still think I’m rooting for Iowa given it looks like 4th place is most likely for the Hoosiers and I want to avoid Maryland for as long as possible in the B1G tourney.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

I haven’t caught our schedule for next year until seeing this today. First thought is I actually think we have a pretty favorable schedule. If you're gonna get an upset at Wiscy, more possible in game one when you might get them still figuring some things out than late in the season. I generally look at OSU/UM as losses regardless, so rather have it be two of our road games which gives us a Mich. St, Maryland, Purdue team at home that would be tougher to pull of at their place. Assuming Penix stays healthy I think 8-4 is reasonable with an outside chance of catching Wiscy not ready and rolling and putting 9-3 in play. I made the trip for the Gator Bowl and had a great time. Would love a crack at another warm-weather Bowl game.
  17. I assumed as much, but you’d think someone within the university would have some business savvy and build some commercial space and lease it out around the stadium. Just look at what the new MLS soccer stadium developments have done. They don’t just build a stadium, they build it as a part of a multi-functional campus of retail business and apartment complexes. (For anyone interested, google the proposed stadium development project David Beckham is putting in Miami as a part of their Soccer stadium for expansion team Inter Miami. Wowzers.) Unless your sports stadiums are naturally located in the middle of a metropolitan city, you have to create that atmosphere as a central hub of activity or else the game is just a singular part of the game day experience. Need to get some forward-thinking innovators in the university positions that understand growth strategy and asset utilization. Might be able to fill our football stadium.

This is your brain. THIS is your brain with unrealistic expectations.
  19. Well, it’s Thirsty Thursday, so let’s hope. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to make it back to campus, but was just thinking: why has nobody ever torn down a few of the street-side Varsity Villa buildings or some trees along Fee Ln between the pool and North Jordan and put in any bars/restaurants? Is that because it’s on campus (just barely) and we are dry? I know a lot of college stadiums that are surrounded by shops and restaurants/bars, etc. Imagine how packed they would be on game days of you could go there before and walk to the game and walk to them after. Would get more students there for sure I’d think. I remember I lived way over on E. 3rd st, and even as a die-hard IU hoops fan, there was more than one occasion where freezing weather or finding a ride made it hard to get motivated to make our way across campus to AH for a game.
  20. Eh, while the betting public can influence a spread, bookmakers are still setting the lines. And if you bet sports you know that it’s freakish how often a game ends right on or within a point of the posted line. If Vegas let public betting drive spreads they would get HAMMERED by the sharps and smart money guys. They are beyond good at limiting exposure to risk. You don’t hear about many sports books going out of business.

I’m no fan of CTC, but in all fairness I would tend to agree that what he did at IU was to resurrect us. He inherited a mess, and got the program back to the #1-ranked team in the country and won a couple B1G titles. Certainly didn’t want him around long-term and felt his brand of basketball wasn’t rooted in sustainable principles. But he did what he’s attempting to do there at UGA for us by building the team up from the bottom to national prominence. I actually think UGA is a good spot for CTC and that he will find some success there (by their measures) given a few years. It’s a low-profile position with attainable goals and $EC resources to recruit.

    Or eliminate the B1G tournament.

Ha. Not sure I’m ready to go there yet. Granted, it’s weird seeing UCONN lose by double digits at all; but their only three losses are to South Carolina, Baylor and Oregon. The #1, #2 and #3 teams in the country respectively. Certainly starting to see some more much-needed parity in the women’s game for sure. Next year might be when we will have a better idea if your questioning UCONN’s dominance has legs. They graduate 5 seniors this year of an 11-player roster. That’s some significant turnover and even though Arriema undoubtedly will bring in a class, UCONN has perennially had senior-led teams usually with one senior being marginally better than almost every player in the country. All that said, certainly don’t want to see them in our region anywhere before the sweet 16.

That Louisville loss might have given Duke an ACC title. L’ville still has to play at Florida St. I don’t see another loss for Duke with ACC-cupcakes galore left on their slate.

#5 Louisville loses to 11-13 Georgia Tech. Likely ACC Player of the year Jordan Nwora has 2 points. ?? Cannot wait for the Big Dance this year. I sincerely wouldn’t be shocked if 8 of the 16 teams with 1-4 seeds get beat in the first round. Very average top 10 this season.
