Women's College Basketball General Thread
JerryYeagley23 replied to JerryYeagley23's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Really good game going on between LSU and Texas A&M on the SECN (ESPN app) if you’re looking to kill some time before the Super Bowl. A&M up 1 on the toad with 5:40 to play. -
Elvis Juice?? I need some further explanation.

Bendu yeaney transferring - Again
JerryYeagley23 replied to Hoosierfan31's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Not sure who wrote the article, but there was an expanded quote from Bendu that said she actually has a family member who had a health condition that had deteriorated. Not saying there isn’t anything else going on, but to make that public, I think that was the driving force behind this transfer, not necessarily an issue with the staff. -
Ha. Fran goes, “f it, we’re out fo here. No handshakes for you.”

How’s this for a crazy statement on the B1G this year: Michigan, the 12th place team in the conference, is only 3 games out of first place. Just no separation. Almost. 100% chance the B1G title is shared this year.

Yeah, I saw it. Started to be some jawing and a little scuffle. The Iowa staff escorted their guys into the tunnel. Left the Illini guys at the scorer’s table waiting to shake hands. I guess a good move to keep it from escalating, but looked bad having the Illinois guys standing there trying to congratulate them in the handshake line with Iowa already in the locker room.

‘66 OF, thoughts on changing the title of this thread to Women’s College Basketball, so we have a place to discuss other games nationally similar to the other thread USPS started where there’s talk about non-IU college hoops? Know there aren’t as many posters engaged with the women’s game, but would be nice to have a place to post other than the individual game threads. @Class of '66 Old Fart -
Wow. What a game. I’ve got to stop watching so many IU games, this is great basketball! Ha. Both teams run an offense that looks like it had purpose and a goal with the movement to get the ball to a specific shot/guy on the floor. I’ve been a defender of IU, trying to oppose the negativity by saying how we’re close, and it’s just a tough league. But this game between Iowa/ILL makes me think we actually aren’t a very good basketball team. At least not at running a deliberate offense and executing a scheme.

Illinois up 2 at Iowa at the under 8 timeout. This has been a heck of a basketball game. Nine lead changes. Both teams playing like their hair is on fire. I’ve got more respect for the Illini than I did before this game. I felt their schedule had been beneficial and with this five-game stretch starting today against ranked teams they were likely gonna go 1-4 or 0-5. I retract that thought. They play hard and are balanced in the front and back court. Now, they still may go 1-4 because the league is that tough, but they will be a tough out in the tourney at a 5-7 seed.

Michigan held serve in the 4th quarter and beat Iowa by 15. Puts IU a game back of them and NW in the loss column. Man, as the games go by, I wish more and more that IU could have held on and got one of those games they led against Iowa and NW. Still in good shape, and I really think they control their own destiny. -
Non-food related, the sharps are coming in today with SF +1.5 and the over.

We are a “dips” family of all varieties We’re grazers. Boneless wings and taquitos will be heated and added closer to game time. Go Chiefs (by marriage)

Guess I will use this as the “(Women’s) College Basketball” thread, so as not to upset anyone there who would not appreciate the clutter to their men’s CBB chatter. But, Michigan up 11 over Iowa late in the third quarter. If they can hold on, the Lady Hoosiers would be 1 game out of first place. Two big games this week with the rivalry game at Purdue and then hosting Maryland three days later at the Hall. Think our conference title hopes hinge on this week’s results. Edit: Michigan really opened it up before end of the 3rd Q. Up 17. Gonna be a tough comeback for Iowa unless they have a Hoosiers V. Wiscy 4th Q in them. -

I’d be down for this. Sounds pretty interesting. Could this be a league fee, fantasy football type thing with a winner, or is it just for fun? -
Man. Tough day to be a ranked team outside of the top 7. What is it, 8 ranked teams lost to unranked teams today?? Gonna be such an awesome March Madness this year.

Gonzaga will survive. But still think their conference has insulated them from ending up a 2 or 3 seed where they more likely deserve to be based on talent and not record.

40 points in 30 minutes won’t be competitive against many teams not named Virginia. -
Rough day for ranked teams in the Big East. Seton Hall lost. Nova down 9 to Creighton with 5 mins to play.

Trace got mauled on the post and no call. Brunk doesn’t seem like he’s versatile enough to guard Wesson. Could we not try Justin Smith on him for a possession or two with how far away from the basket he likes to play? Also, Al makes every pass like he wants to take it back three quarters of the way through making it. -

You know, everyone talked “Good Devonte/Bad Devonte” early in the season and our frustrations were with wanting more good Devonte. His talent and ability to make shots was something we needed on this team, if he could improve his decision making. What I see now is a kid who has been drilled so hard about being smarter and not taking bad shots, that you’ve got a dilluted version of the good Devonte we need of this team is gonna win. He is thinking so hard about making passes that won’t get him benched that what made him valuable, his confidence and ability to fire off three 3’s in a row and keep us in the game is gone. He’s playing to please, instead of with his instincts. And it’s actually causing more turnovers and missed shots. He’s everybody’s favorite black sheep, but he’s the best shooter on the team and if you haven’t noticed, the other guards aren’t an upgrade - they’re just safer options with lower ceilings. But I know, I’m an enabler. -

USPS, with your affinity for college hoops, you may want to look into getting an Amazon Firestick and jail-breaking it. I get every station in the world. There’s a sports app that literally has links to every college basketball being televised no matter how local the station sometimes down to the DIII level.
