This is one of those games you really want as a program to point to as validation when you just received your highest ever program AP ranking. The ladies have been good and beaten teams they should beat. The Michigan win was a good quality win against a legit talented team. But if you want the respect that your program has turned a corner, you win this one on the road at a top 15 team historically who has your number. Turn a couple heads. Accept the pressure of being a perennially good program and face it head on and walk away with a win. I continue to stand by my feeling that Holmes is a star, Ali is obviously our motor - but this team goes as Grace Berger goes. If she’s playing well and hitting those trademark mid-range jumpers, it takes a lot of pressure off of our offense. Hoosiers by 4. Next loss comes against Maryland in the B1G Championship game and we get a 2-seed which would be huge in positioning us to make an elite 8. Go get ‘em Lady Hoosiers.

Holmes has not been herself on the offensive side of the ball, but that was a HUGE defensive play in the post against Hillman.

Some really questionable work by the stripes down the stretch, but free throw shooting has the girls in a position to pull out a big resume win this late in the B1G season.

1-13 from three. Not gonna win you many games against top 20 teams.

When Berger missed two free throws late in the 4th quarter, it might just not be your night.

Not adjusting well to the matchup zone is the difference in the 4th quarter right now. Somebody is gonna need to hit a three. They’re clogging the lane because we can’t shoot the ball.

Little side note: I get that they want to give some of these ladies an opportunity to make a career for themselves with their passion, but the BTN is doing viewership of women’s basketball zero favors letting this Kathleen Doyle girl do color commentary on a big conference game. She’s worse than some of the high school kids that call their schools games on public tv channels. Ugh.

Penn has just not come back from that early season injury. We miss her ability to stretch the floor with the three ball. We don’t have many legitimate threats from distance.

When is the Aussie eligible? Price maybe? I thought she was potentially going to be eligible for the Spring or did I read that wrong?

That was a bad turnover by Gulbe. Grabbed the board, you’re on a 6-0 run and up 7, but you try to outlet pass quick when OSU is pressing high up the court instead of hurrying back on defense after misses. If she just holds the ball and gets it to a guard you’ve got possession trying to go up 9. Instead they drill a three and it’s a 4 point game. Gotta be smart.

A light press shouldn’t be this disruptive. Need to slow down and use the bounce pass instead of trying to throw everything over the top.

A few straight possessions of turnovers let them eat away at our early lead, but the defense is playing well. Two thoughts: I’ve said it before, but Patberg gets due respect as our vocal leader of this team - but as Berger goes, so go the Lady Hoosiers. She’s the difference in us being good and great. Thought two: Cardano-Hillary has just not been what I thought she would be coming in. Just not an impact player at this level.

Definitely a statement game opportunity. You’ve got an OSU team with a spotlight on it after beating undefeated Michigan and always dominant Maryland. Would resonate a bit louder than usual to get a win against the Buckeyes tonight.

False alarm. Guess not yet actually. The author on ESPN edited the article and it now says “Whop Philyor has not yet announced what he intends to do.”

Whop already announced he’s coming back. According to ESPN in the article about Fryfogle: “His decision to return to Indiana comes only two days after Hoosiers receiver Whop Philyor, Indiana's second-leading receiver, also announced he would return to school for the 2021 season.”

Wanted to start a thread for conversation about the Women’s games going on around college basketball, or general discussions that relate indirectly to the Lady Hoosiers. I’ll kick off the thread with a couple observations from today. UCLA bouncing back, up big on #19 ASU. Was really surprised seeing them get beat by almost 30 at Arizona on Friday. The top half of the PAC 12 is crazy talented. South Carolina smoked Tennessee by 21. The Lady Hoosiers win over them (their only loss) on a neutral court continues to look more and more impressive. Michigan beat #19 Iowa, and unranked Florida beat #13 Kentucky. Man, his former high school coach sure threw up a big smoke screen a few weeks ago didn’t he? It was so widely assumed until that “he’s 100% focused on being a Hoosier next year” quote. Wish DA the best. Think this was a good decision for him.

Not lending any credibility to ISP, because I have no connection or knowledge about them at all - but, Chris Reynolds becoming the new AD was all but decided upon and was being planned for, until McRobbie interjected in the 11th hour. So, not saying ISP deserves more or less credibility, but take the AD miss with a grain of salt.

I’d recommend everyone get their seat belts tightened and enjoy the ride. As the late Bill Withers said, it’s gonna be a lovely day. ;)

Sounds like they will, but won’t be voted on until May 21st.

Had a chance to watch some film on this guy today and I’m becoming more of a fan. He’s got a really strong frame already and uses his body well to get his shot off in the lane. Was really impressed with his mid-range game around the elbow. (A lost art form) He obviously shoots the three ball well, but I think there’s even some upside there with a little work on his form. It looks to me like his guide hand is a little too much on top of the ball and could be brought down the side a bit to allow him to release at a higher point and fix the small hitch in his shot. For a 40% shooter from deep, to still say it has room to get better is pretty impressive. I hadn’t been as high on him in this class, but he’s rising up my wish list.

Got to wonder if/when the FBI investigation impacts their ability to reload year in and year out. Maybe the lack of a repercussion has just emboldened them to keep up the shady practices and that’s why things keep rolling along. ?

But came across this. Granted, it was from before last season, but being talked about as the top ranked defensive player in the country in any form tells me he’s got a serious upside for the Hoosiers in his one remaining year.
