Vegas swearing this last possession. Miss, remind foul to cover. -

These flagrant 1 looks are getting ridiculous. Contact with the head happens. Get over it. You’re gonna tell me she intentionally elbowed her nose WHILE concentrating on making the layup?? Come on man. -

Yarden and Scalia a combined 1-11 from the field. We can’t win if we don’t hit perimeter shots. -

This is a 4/5 game, this is what should be expected. Tough game. If Sara and Yarden get a couple threes to go down it should open up the paint. -

Teri is pretty singularly focused right now as you’d expect, but the staff is definitely monitoring the portal. I think they have a plan for the type of player that fits their system and is of need and they’ll keep a list of good fits and let them know we’re interested in talking after we finish our business on the court. -

Sheesh. Talk about a propaganda piece. Do we give NIL to journalists for positive press pieces now? -

Touché. Fun to think about, although we’re probably in the wrong thread and I don’t want to derail. I guess it all comes back to roster construction and what your basic offensive and defensive philosophies are that you institute. Maybe that’s the unfortunate part in questioning whether we would have been better or worse with different guys/skill sets, because I don’t really know what philosophies we’re committed to or run for the most part. -

Agree it’s a guards game. And to that extent a 3-pt shot game in the modern era. But if we were outplayed in a majority of our games this year, what does that look like with MR and Sparks as our only bigs?? MR gets two early fouls and we play Sparks for 12 minutes in the first half? Wares rim protection alone being 7-ft was the only thing that kept teams from penetrating for layups with ease. Because our perimeter D was brutal at keeping guys in front of them. Again, all hypothetical, but without Ware, I think we win 15 games even upgrading guards. Which really makes the point that Woody needs to find another top-5 big in the portal (ala Ware) AND get two guards like Domask and Williams. Cause we lost Sparks and MR isn’t going to suddenly get quicker feet and stop fouling. Big challenge for Woody this portal. -

I’m with you on this. I think Mack will be good to go and only rest for the sake of rest, not the injury. Gotta think, this is her last collegiate games. She is going to want to play and give us everything she’s got. The injury isn’t a pain tolerance thing, she feels great. It’s always been a risk of the knee cap going out again thing. And we limited her and protected against that because we had more season left and would rather not risk missing her for the end. But now we don’t need to save her for anything. Obviously she’s got pro aspirations and nobody wants her to get injured. But if it goes out again, she’s got plenty of time to rehab it. Gotta take that chance now and leave it all out there. -

Just for the banter because it’s all hypothetical, respectfully I think we might have actually been worse in that scenario. Even with better guards, if we had to rely on MR to be our only big and rim protector with the way he fouls… we were a below average rebounding team WITH Ware. Reneau and Sparks as our front court would have been multiple additional losses even if Domask and Williams took Cupps/Leal’s minutes. I think Ware actually might somehow have been under appreciated because of our season and to some extent splitting post touches with MR. He single-handedly won us a few games IMO. Wish him well in the league and hope he continues to develop. -

I live in SEC country. The money is unbelievably different. But don’t sleep on the Bloomington women. They would hold their own on any campus down here. -

I guess now would be a good time to launch my paid subscription site while I’ve got the major publicity from Texas Hoosier. But that would probably require I start a tweeter account…. Hmm, never mind, I’ll keep posting here for free to the true fans. :) -

I meant good press for the kid. I agree it’s not a great look for us to always be a finalist and not get commitments. -

I think we’re going to have a really solid portal opportunity for a big this year. Like, one currently on a tourney team that wants to spend their Covid year going for a title. Basically return a ton of shooters and an all B1G point guard elite at feeding the post, and you just need to plug into Mack’s spot and be a mentor for Lilly for a year. -

Despite our feelings about the program, it’s still good press to include IU on your list until announcing your final decision. Keeps eyes on you and still holds clout as a historic program for those following the recruitment. We’ve seen this with several recruits lately having IU in their finalists to make their announcement a bigger event. -

Is it that much different now though? Isn’t Terrence Shannon Jr playing an entire season with a pending rape or SA charge currently? Or am I thinking of the wrong guy? -

JerryYeagley23 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I’ll be honest, at first I groaned when I saw our draw but today I’m actually liking it. We are a team no 1-seed wants to see. The team that has three point shooters and can get hot for one game and put you on your heels out of the gate and you just never recover. And you’re going to have to beat a “South Carolina” at some point in the tourney, might as well be earlier than later. Less pressure than seeing them for a date to the final four. Nobody will expect is to win that game. Let it loose and fire away from distance at will. I think we will play better as a four seed with nobody talking about us than we did as a one seed last year. This team reminds me of the 2002 men’s team a bit (weren’t they a 5 seed?). Get hot and all the sudden you ride that momentum into the final four. We shall see. That’s why they play the games. -

Scott is definitely fighting the good fight, but the headwinds have been substantial. I think he will get this right in the long run personally. He knows what needs to happen.
