Might actually be a step in the right direction. Very few teams have offenses that rely so heavily on post play these days. We are a “Tim Duncan” team playing in a “Steph Curry” era right now.

Stanford getting beat tonight should give us some breathing room to retain a 1-seed even if we stumble en route to the B1G tourney crown. That’s their 5th loss of the season.

Gotta be proud of the women’s play so far. Top 5 team on the road, getting the benefit of the doubt on the whistles (to be generous) - still staying calm and staying in the game down three. Bodes well for NCAA tourney time. I like our makeup for a March run a LOT more than Iowa’s. They’re one Clark cold shooting game or foul trouble game away from getting bounced every time out.

We’re 2-11 from three and down 1 on the road. Third quarter has been our quarter all season long. Interested to see if we come out firing. Garzon gotta get going. Need to get Mack more touches.

Clark is a phenomenal talent. But announcers act like she can do no wrong. She forces shots all over the place. Took 8 three’s in the first half alone. I’ll take our team basketball on offense all day.

In thinking about X getting back on the court, it’s important to understand his injury was a bone break. Different from a muscle or tendon injury in that it’s not about pain tolerance so much as it’s about waiting long enough to be comfortable it won’t break again. If you talk to X, he probably would have played by now. It looks and feels fine. But the extra precaution is being taken because you can’t really test the strength of a bone and the last thing you want to do is put him on the court a week too soon and have him break it again and ensure he’s done for the season. He’s supposed to get practice time this week and if there’s no setbacks he will be “back” for the big ten tourney. If he plays in the last conference games it will be because they feel comfortable it’s healed as much as it’s going to and X and the staff are ready to roll the dice it won’t break again. Play-wise, I expect X to be pretty much full-speed. If not it would be simply mental, being worried about re-injury. And he seems like the kind of kid who will get rid of those thoughts and just go for it.

We just own the third quarter. All season long.

UCONN has played Xavier. They are 0-16 in conference and 7-18 overall. How are they not quad 4??

If we’re really #5 in the NET, then it is flat out a flawed metric. We are 9-0 against ranked teams. UCONN is 5-3. LSU is 1-1. Stanford is 7-1, but they benefit from having four teams in conference ranked 16-25th. If UCONN benefits from a close loss to SC, they should be equally penalized for a close win (8 pts) over a 10-14 Georgetown team two games later. Same should be said about Stanford’s 3 pt. home win over 11-14 Oregon St. and loss to 13-11 Washington. Same for LSU’s 3 pt. win against last-place in conference 6-17 Tx A&M. I know it doesn’t matter, because we’re the consensus second best team in the nation. But to have a team at 25-1 with 9 wins against the top 25 (5 against the top 10) be fifth in a metric points to it not being a great metric.

I wish the voting was based on a more true definition of the words. If you’re just talking about the national (men’s basketball) player of the year it’s TJD all day. If you want to say Edey is the most dominant player, okay. Most valuable to his team. Maybe. Tallest. Yeah, he’s really big. But if you watch them both play, it’s very clear TJD is better at basketball and doing it in all kinds of different ways. Edey gets his statistics one-dimensionally. He’s the equivalent of the 600-lb hockey goalie IMO. Sure he’s effective. He’s a cheat code at 7’4”. But the domination Trayce is showing, with his passing out of the post, his blocked shots, his athleticism around the basket - he’s the better basketball player, and having the better season.

Although I actually think we could be a matchup nightmare for SC because they play too bigs that don’t like to defend outside the paint and we have shooters at 4 positions, I definitely don’t think there would be any shame losing to them in a national championship game. That being said, can someone help me understand what I’ve seen in the mock brackets? We are currently the consensus second best #1 seed. But in the brackets that puts us in the Greenville 2 region. SC is the number one overall seed in the Greenville 1 region. Would that mean we’d be set up to play them in the final four if seeds hold?? I understand wanting to keep teams closer to home and that being bette than going out West, but as the overall second best seed that would seem kind of unfair to have to face SC before the title game.

I love the announcers every game trying to say things like “they will have to keep hitting free throws to hang around IU.” Or “we’ve got a battle going on in Assembly.” Have they not watched us play? When we’re up 20 it’s over with these ladies. Stop trying to make it sound like it’s still in doubt.

We’ve all been watching the men’s team with leads for too long. :) The women don’t flinch.

Scalia shooting with this type of confidence is the difference in us being a final four contender and a legitimate championship contender in my opinion.

Halftime of the OSU/MSU game on CBS, one of the analysts revealed his top 8 teams and had IU as the second #2 seed. Our wins piling up starting to get some attention nationally.

Not sure where they get their information, but Mack stated in no uncertain terms she will be back at IU next year. She’s coming back.
