From the quotes from Allen it seemed like he would be QB3. "Doesn't have the passing zip that Penix possesses or the electric running ability of Dawkins"....but says he's "trusted." From what I've heard is that TJD would love to play with Stewart. With Brooks and TJD as close as they are and if they're serious about playing together I feel like Brooks could easily be in Stewart's ear and be our best recruiter for him. He definitely gets labeled as "soft" only because he has a calm demeanor about him and isn't pounding his chest after every basket or talking trash. He lets his game do the talking. As someone who's seen him play in person a few times he definitely doesn't shy away from contact and I don't think there should be any concern that he's not B1G ready or going to get bodied by others. I've heard he will narrow his list to 3 at beginning of September and will include IU, MSU, and Purdue...heard this yesterday and TJD posted today so there may be some truth to it. I think we're gonna see Bouknight jump up in the next rankings. I won't be surprised if he's top 40-50 in the final rankings. I think we need to scoop him up soon. This kid is a big time baller... I think Durham is going to get lost in the mix this year. I will be surprised if Phinisee isn't starting by B1G season as he's a throwback PG who is looking to direct the team and not a score first PG like Green. Unless Green has made major strides and can become more consistent and limit the mental lapses, I don't think he can hold the starting spot down. We aren't gonna need his scoring this year and will be better served with a PG who is looking to get others involved and create open looks like Rob can. Also I think Hunter would be the first off the bench...I think many people are forgetting he's a top 50 recruit and has A LOT of potential and will be battling Smith for a starting spot from the get go. I think we've gotten used to the low expectations from Creans recruiting classes coming in their first years and are still holding onto low expectations but I don't think that'll be the case...Archie's first ever group is much more talented/athletic than what we're used to and will have them ready to go from the start. Teams have open gyms throughout the year and commits/signees play in them all the time as well as invited recruits. This is nothing new and it's not mandatory. Our recruits are all within driving distance outside of Forrester (who wasn't there). This is just info I thought I'd share from somebody close to a recruit. I got the info about Keion and TJD from him as well regarding them having a minor fallout and TJD looking at possibly joining another AAU program this summer since Keions dad is making sure Keion gets his shots up and keeps garnering attention. I also heard that Center Grove will be getting Ethan Watts next year, who also plays on Indy Heat with TJD and Brooks. Just reporting info that I heard from IUs open gym from a recruit that attended there this past week. He said during walkthroughs the starting 5 on the floor together was Phinisee, Romeo, Hunter, Fitzner and Davis (only participated in walkthroughs not actual games). Was told that Hunter is going to surprise a lot this year and looked like an upperclassmen and will start right away no doubt. Also heard that Romeo was Romeo and took over whenever he wanted to and that Fitzner played the "stretch 4" and played mostly outside. Damezi was hitting everything and we shouldn't be surprised if he's first off the bench...the only drawback was his defense and seemed to get in bad position at times but he has a whole summer to get better like most of our players did under Archie. Just thought I'd share this info with all of you. I'd personally be a fan of the starting lineup of: Rob Romeo Hunter Fitzner Morgan I know people would be hesitant bc it's 3 freshmen and a transfer new to the system but again the talent from our team this past year wasn't the greatest to sugar coat things and the pieces we have coming in are already far more talented and athletic. Rob is a true PG and a lesser Yogi in my opinion and is not going to make boneheaded mistakes or try to force anything like our guards of last year. Just my thoughts. I'm sure it is exaggerated...as it is hearsay as well. I just found it interesting that Memphis offered TJD this week and I heard this info last month so there may be some validity to it but again it's just what I heard from someone who is close to the AAU circuit here in the area. FWIW I've heard that TJD is looking at joining another AAU team for the summer bc he isn't happy with how the team is being coached (Keion Brooks' dad is the coach) and there may be a little bit of a riff right now with he and Keion...heard this last month and also that TJD has had interest from Team Penny and Indiana Elite and good chance he will join one of those teams. Just what I'm hearing in the Center Grove community. TJD may be looking at building a new relationship/"combo package" with he and DJ. Yes Please! I think Keion is Kentucky or MSU bound in the end. I'd be willing to bet even the balconies are full for exhibition games. Romeo is a special player and fans will wanna see him as much as possible while he is still in an Indiana jersey. Playing devil's advocate, is there still a chance this has anything to do with waiting until Mr. Basketball is announced (announcement 4/29) and ensuring he is named Mr. Basketball even if he didn't pick Indiana. In all honesty, there's zero chance his announcement to any other school would affect him getting Mr. Basketball IMO. Maybe he just wants to wear his Mr. Basketball jersey with Indiana on the front and will trade it in for another jersey with Indiana across the front at the announcement?!?! Just gonna throw this out there. Living in the Center Grove area, I talk to a guy at the gym who is connected to TJD and family and he said Romeo is announcing next Thursday and it's IU. Again he has zero/little credibility in regards to Romeo and all reports are saying announcement coming between April 13-30. If we hear any news that Romeo in fact will announce next Thursday April 12, then maybe just MAYBE, he knows something we don't and could be good news for us. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
