Does anyone think that TCU and Creighton being recently named in the corruption scandal will affect there chances. I think if they’re squarely on the bubble, which they will be, it may come into play. A bit of a conspiracy I know but I think stuff like that crosses their mind. The fact that students will be on break for the game Sunday scares me A LOT. Not near the same atmosphere without the students and our players feed off their energy. If you look back to the Christmas break games, we probably played some of our worst basketball and those cupcake games were a lot closer than they should’ve been. I wouldn’t get caught up with these so-called ”expert” bracketologists like Lunardi (ESPN) and Palm (CBS Sportsline). SB Nation has us as the final 4 in and first on the line to get a bye. Before yesterday’s game bracket matrix had us in 9 brackets as 11 and 12 seeds. ESPN has us as the first 4 out. If we win Sunday and NC State loses we will most likely take their spot or the spot of the loser of the TCU/Texas game this week. NC State, Seton Hall, and Clemson are on most Last 4 Ins so they are the biggest games of the night IMO. Losses by NC State and Clemson will do real damage. I would have to agree. Seems like there are too many “smoke screens” to throw people off. I think he’s IU bound too. I just can’t see him going to UK where he is going to have to battle for minutes when he’s been “the guy” his whole life. UK already has Whitney at his position as well as possibly Brakefield and UK is only losing 2 guys to the NBA. At IU he’s gonna be the go-to right off the bat and will be playing with his friends in his home state. I feel less confident than I did with Romeo but I’m still pretty confident he’ll be rocking the candy stripes next year. Lunardi updated his bracketology today and has TCU in at #12...they have 2 quad 1 wins (both against Iowa State) and their 3rd best win is vs Texas (another bubble team) at home. Will finish conference at 6-12 or 7-11 with at most 3 quad 1 wins. Texas is in at a 9 seed at 16-14 right now and is now 5-9 in quad 1 (IU 6-9) and have 2 quad 3 losses (IU has zero quad 3 or 4 losses). Texas and TCU both play each other in the final games of their season. The game is at Texas, should we root for TCU to pull off the upset since their on the outside looking in from a distance or Texas who is very bubblicious and on the fence right now but in. This is a joke right? You know the conference tourney champ gets an auto bid? If that scenario miraculously happens we would be slotted in an 8/9 game IMO. I remember reading a preseason article on CBS Sports that said IU had the most question marks and said they have to potential to either go to the Final 4 or lose first round of the NIT. I think a lot of people are overlooking one more possible factor other than just the NET and Quad system...and that’s revenue. Can you imagine if IU gets in and plays one of the First Four games in Dayton??? The storyline of Archie going back to Dayton to coach his first tourney game with Indiana in his old arena, the proximity of Dayton to Indiana and the ticket sales amongst not only IU fans/alumni but Dayton fans to see their old coach in action. Lastly, the ratings for a First Four game with Indiana...historically the ratings have been pretty low and I’d guarantee they’d be off the charts for an IU game. If anyone thinks the committee doesn’t take this stuff into consideration when laying out the bracket and making final selections is lying to themselves. There’s a reason IU was underseeded as a 5 seed in our last appearance and magically were placed in the same region as 4 seeded Kentucky...these things help our chances more than a St. Mary’s or Furman who would have virtually zero draw.
