Not getting cocky but being around Purdue fans daily and having them talk about Brohm being the greatest coach to walk the sidelines and ALL the momentum they had coming into this season and for them to open the season like this is too funny. Never have I seen such high expectations for a team that finished 6-7 and lost their starting QB, 2 of their 3 starting WR, and entire backfield...Rondale Moore is literally their entire team. I know it’s Indiana football but it’s hard not to get excited with this team and the potential we’ve seen with these young guys. I can’t remember ever having this much depth on offense...could very well have a top 3 RB and WR core in the B1G with Scott, James, Walker, Gest at RB, and Hale, Westbrook, Whop, and Miles Marshall at WR. A lot of people speculating that Colts will try to trade for Nate Sudfield...Reich coached him and he knows his system already. Wouldn’t be ready to play until mid to late September however. The foundation that Archie is building right now is definitely setting us up nicely for the future, I just hope we give him enough time to see it all come together. I understand that we want to win and win BIG right now but we need to realize that Archie is trying bring stability back to the program with the RIGHT kids. With all the pieces he is bringing in this could very well bring us back to the IU teams of old under Knight. High IQ, fundamental players who have all had team success in high school who will come to IU and WANT to be here and WANT to work their a$$e$ off for the school/program. I, as an Indiana native, a lifelong IU fan and alumni, am genuinely excited about the future no matter how this season turns out and will give Archie time because I know that what he is building right now is truly bringing pride back to Indiana University and to all those associated and it’s about time! De’Ron DAVIS or Trayce Jackson-DAVIS??? If De’Ron Davis is our leading scorer, then it could be a VERY long season. I would assume Green, Hunter, or TJD will be our leading scorer...with Rob being a dark horse. I would be very surprised if De’Ron is top 3 in scoring. Jerry Palm, Purdue superfan/alum, leaves IU off the bracket and puts Purdue at a 4 seed. Shocked. Do people really expect Purdue to only drop off a little after losing 3 starters and arguably one of the best shooters AND best scorers in program history in Cline and Edwards? Those 2 were the biggest reasons for their success. Lost their glue guy in Grady Eiffert as well...not saying they won’t be good because Painter seems to always be able to replace important parts but I think it’s gonna be TOUGH to replace those guys. I think 6 seed is a realistic expectation for them. As for IU, it’s gonna be dependent on Hunter’s availability. Cody and Vic actually sponsored Armored Athlete last year...that team featured both Hulls and Sheehey but they were the only former Hoosiers. Heard CAM is making the players room with different teammates each week throughout the summer as well as going on a retreat with no cell phones to build up the chemistry. This was music to my ears when I heard this...this could’ve been huge had this been done last summer....I’m assuming tho this is a result of the mess from last year. Just thought I’d relay some info I had heard...again I find it hard to believe there was a 30 lb weight gain by DD myself given the videos/pictures I’ve seen....could’ve been a bit of an exaggeration IMO but I know this individual wouldn’t make anything like this up. I went back home to Columbus this past weekend and heard this info. These people are very in touch with the program and Mike Pegram. I enjoy sharing any and all info I hear as I talk to people close to the team very often these days. I can also tell you Archie is making the team go on a “retreat” this offseason without cell phones for a couple nights to hopefully build much better camaraderie this year. This makes me very hopeful we don’t see another letdown this year.

I’m not gonna say who it was but this is coming from an IU athletes parent...who plays basketball. I would think they might know a little more than the average fan but maybe not. I’m just relaying what I heard from someone that is VERY close to the basketball program. I will also say that the coaching staff is really liking Brunk and if the season started today, he’d be the starter over De’Ron...just needs a little “toughening up” to do.
