I don't get how the whole "reclassifying" deal works. At my high school -- granted, that was 30 years ago -- you had all kinds credit and course requirements you needed to satisfy before you could graduate. And you couldn't take a handful of those courses until you were a senior; hence, there was no way you could graduate early or "reclassify" or move up a class. I could've dropped out any time I wanted, I suppose, but I still wouldn't have satisfied the school's requirements to get my diploma. I hope someone more intelligent than me -- that won't take much -- can enlighten me.

2018 General Recruiting Thread
LamarCheeks replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
He belongs in the NBA. On the ESPN 30 for 30 about him, he essentially said he doesn't view his job as winning NCAA titles; it's getting guys to the NBA. That's not the kind of guy I'd want coaching my team. -

Zero picks for what? ... Sorry, I'm not sure to what you're referring. -

Random IUBB Recruiting

Don't know if I'd call it poaching. It's just recruiting. And having spent a handful of years in Indiana, he certainly knows the state. -
I'm looking forward to Alvarez-Triple G way, way more than this.

You just hope that Archie is as happy to be at IU as we are to have him. I hope that deep down in the back of his mind, he's not thinking, "Damn. I wish I had waited for that Ohio State gig." ... I'm guessing (hoping) he is happy in B-town, though. ... Because many automatically assumed that since he went to N.C. State, he'd want that job when it opened. He didn't. And since he was a Matta assistant, many automatically assumed that he'd want to coach at OSU. And it's possible he didn't want a return there.

Chris Holtmann named Ohio State Head Coach
LamarCheeks replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Here's my scenario -- which I totally made up and upon which there is no basis of fact: Brad Brownell to Butler. He's from Indiana (was a high school teammate of Calbert Cheaney) and went to DePauw. He's stuck at a football school that only pretends to be interested in basketball. There was even some question about whether he'd be back next season. Perhaps he wants to get Back Home Again and be top banana at a basketball school. The only thing: I don't know how much Butler was paying Holtmann, so I don't know what they'd be willing to pay. Brownell is making somewhere between $1.2 and $2 million a year (he signed an extension a couple years back that takes him to $2 mil -- just don't know when). ... Then Crean goes to Clemson, where they don't care about basketball and he doesn't have to worry about being top dog. He can make the NCAAs once every four or five seasons and everybody's happy. LOL! -
Really sad story. I didn't necessarily think he would be an NFL star, but I thought he had all the tools to be a good receiver for a good while. I remember one game at IU, the QB way underthrew the ball. The eyes of the DB just lit up -- he was sure he was gonna get the pick. Hardy, right behind him, just reached over the top of him and snagged the ball for a TD -- an amazing play by an amazing talent. RIP, James.

So, why is this happening? -
According to the OSU website, Matta is finished as of now. He won't even coach next season.

I'm still totally loving that we got this guy right from PU's backyard. ... Hope we can do the same in hoops with Phinisee! -

Stiever, who has walked six guys all season, put three on base in the first inning today -- including walking in a run. Yikes. -

I'm a native Hoosier and an IU grad who now lives in Virginia. Just happened to check the local paper's website and saw that our Triple-A team (Norfolk Tides) is playing Rochester this weekend. Aaron Slegers is taking the bump Saturday night for the Red Wings. If I didn't have something else going on, I'd love to go watch him pitch. -

Botched double play, then a wild pitch. What a crappy way to (probably) lose a game. -

Got a bad feeling that's gonna cost us the ballgame. -

Admittedly, I haven't seen as much IU baseball as I would've liked this season. But in the handful of games I have witnessed, I've seen enough baserunning mistakes to fill an entire season. And these are recent -- shouldn't be happening this late in the season. No excuse for that. -

I get it. I nearly broke my big toe twice that night: Once after the Stanford HR and once after the Kings beat the Blackhawks in OT in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals. I was certain the Hoosiers would make it to the CWS -- and possibly win -- and that the Hawks would repeat as Stanley Cup champs. Oh well, such is life. -

Even though we didn't make the CWS in 2014, it still amazes me to look back and see how incredible of a season that was. We went 25-3 in B1G games and all three losses were by one run. An extra hit here, and error there, a better pitch late in a game -- and we could've completely run the table (28-0). Boy, what a group that was! -

Methinks Luke Miller needs to go to remedial baserunning school. -

So I'm keeping tabs of the game on my phone and it's 8-4 IU. My reception gets bad and my battery is getting low, so I tune out for a few minutes. I come back and it's 9-8 Minny. WTF? -

Ugh. Swinging at a bad 2-1 pitch and beating it into the ground with the winning run on second. At that point, you have the advantage -- make sure it's a good pitch. Make him throw you a strike. -

Might want to think about getting a guy or two on base, then moving them around. Don't need to end the game with one swing. -

Guy who scored tying run got on base for free. You gotta make those guys earn their way on! Walks and HBPs just chap my butt. -
