Stevie Boy Wonder Fired at UCLA
LamarCheeks replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Can you elaborate? I've never heard this. What did Buckner have to do with it? ... Not doubting you -- just curious. -
Stevie Boy Wonder Fired at UCLA
LamarCheeks replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I thought I remember him saying he was looking for someone who had coached in college and had Indiana ties -- then added if it were an alum, that would be optimal. That's why I thought he was pointing right at Alford. It's quite possible I don't remember it correctly, though. -

I would still love to get Fred Glass full of truth serum and find out exactly what went on after Crean was fired. Because his "check plus plus" speech seemed to be setting the stage for Alford's triumphant return. It's very possible I'm wrong -- I am quite often -- but I still think that was his initial plan, then after encountering a ton of backlash from fans, alumni, etc., who wanted no part of Alford, he switched gears. ... And although Alford later said he was "100 percent not going to Indiana," my guess is if offered the job, he would've taken it in a second. -
And is enough of a math whiz to know to that throwing a 6-yard pass on third and 8 does you no good.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
LamarCheeks replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've got a New Year's Eve date in Times Square with Scarlett Johansson and next Friday, I'm gonna win the Mega Millions. Nick Saban, needing a new challenge, is gonna resign from Alabama and take over at IU. Kyle Schwarber's gonna hit .340 with 45 homers and 150 RBIs next year and win the MVP. Romeo Langford's gonna stay at IU for two seasons. Hey, there's nothing wrong with dreaming big ... -
So Auburn beats the crap out of Purdue. Purdue beat us by a touchdown. Alabama beat Auburn 52-21. If we were to play Alabama, I'm guessing: Tide 132, Hoosiers 8 (and Nick Saban would say to his team after the game: "How the hell did we let them get those eight points?")

If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?

Which shoe is it -- L or R? LOL! ... Unless we have a team full of Gerry Flecks, our guys will need both!!! -
Must be nice to have an OC who's willing to throw the ball downfield. And have a QB who actually can throw the ball downfield.
-
Yep. The sad thing is that had we somehow beaten PU, this probably would be us getting pounded all over the field in Nashville.
-
I think the officials are feeling sorry for PU now. The Toiletmaker DB was basically hugging the Auburn receiver from the 5-yard-line to the back of the end zone -- but there was no holding call.
-
Damn. Auburn has had the ball for less than five minutes and is leading by five touchdowns! ... Good thing Toiletmaker fans are obsessing over us ...
-
As per their custom, the whiny little Toiletmaker fans scream "IU sucks" as they kick off to Auburn. Three players later, the Tigers score on a 66-yard TD pass. On its next possession, Auburn marches right down the field to another TD. Love it! Who sucks now, Toiletmaker fans??? Maybe if you were half as obsessive about your opponent as you are with us, you wouldn't be getting embarrassed. (Little brothers can be so annoying).

It's time to make Pony a major player again! -
That's not very Christian-like!
-
Yes, because men of God call opposing players "a--hole" in the post-game handshake line and try to intimidate the victim after one of your players assaulted her.

Grew up in the Region. Still have family there. I'm not sure I would say that Dakich carried Andrean to the state semifinals. He had an awfully good sidekick named James Bullock, who ended up being a better player and had a better career at Purdue.

RIP - Terry Hutchens - 1958-2018

Nice touch by our former coach. -
Just finished "Razor Girl" by Carl Hiaasen. As with all his work, I was very entertained and very amused. Still can't help but feel for him after his brother was murdered in the Annapolis newspaper shooting.

Very saddened to see this. I read him for years and from all accounts, he was a really good guy. Prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. -
OK, question for someone who knows how athletic training works these days: Do you actually have to have a concussion to be in concussion protocol? ... I saw a report that indicated Phinisee actually suffered a concussion, but I don't know if anybody had confirmed that -- or maybe the report was just based on the fact that he was in protocol. I assumed protocol was just making sure everything was OK and there were no lingering affects from the injury before releasing the athlete to participate. I'm thinking that Rob isn't playing Saturday as a precaution, to give him extra time to recover and because we should be OK without him. When I initially saw the play Wednesday night, it didn't look all that bad. Then again, appearances can be deceiving. I remember Brian Roberts (former Orioles 2B) got mad because he struck out and hit himself in the helmet with his bat -- and ended up with a concussion.
-
Archie is talking to the media now. Obviously, someone asked about Rob. I missed the first part of his answer, but he said Rob was feeling much better than Wednesday night, but was still in concussion protocol. I don't know if he ruled Rob out vs. Jacksonville, but I would presume that's the case.

He's coaching a Greek team. If things start to go awry and the natives get restless, I can see it now: Pitino: "Poseidon's not walking through that door, fans. Zeus is not walking through that door. Apollo's not walking through that door. ... As soon as they realize those three guys are not walking through that door, the better this country will be for all of us. ... All the negativity in this country sucks."

I vote we get this topic back to its initial intention. That's wishing Terry the best and praying and hoping he will recover from this and be back doing what he loves -- covering the Hoosiers. Prayers and thoughts to Terry and the Hutchens family. IMO, that this has gotten off track is disrespectful. I've got no problem discussing former coaches and their love/hate of IU and whatever else -- just not on this thread. Take it elsewhere. -
Ironically, three of the eight in the running are ... 1). The team we beat to cap the last unbeaten season 2). A team coached by a guy who left our program in ruins 3). A team led by someone we reportedly wanted to coach us after the aforementioned coach totally screwed our program
