    (2020) PF/C - Dawson Garcia to Minnesota

Just tell him if he commits and has a productive four years, the Jordan River will be renamed Dawson's Creek! (The Jordan really isn't much of a 'river' anyway.)

    Secret Scrimmage Information

Obviously, I didn't see the game, but what is concerning to me (among a handful of things) is that arguably our worse shooter -- Justin -- took the most shots. Although he did make the only 3-pointer he took. But for the most part, if it's not a dunk -- it could be argued that it's out of his range. His monster Michigan State game obviously was an anomaly -- the offense simply cannot run through Justin.

    Secret Scrimmage Information

OK, so I checked out the box score from the super-secret scrimmage and have what probably is a dumb question about what might be a super-secret stat. What the hell does "FD" mean under fouls? I've seen hundreds of basketball box scores and don't recall ever seeing that.

2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

Fred Krueger might disagree. With that razor-blade glove, he was hard to stop.
  6. Picking us to win a B1G road game scares the hell out of me, but Halloween is just around the corner, so what the heck ... Hoosiers 26 Twerps 20
  7. Side bet on this. If we do lose ... 1) How soon does the "Fire Archie" thread get started? 2) Who starts it?

I think this is missing one: Lounge. I thought Louisville played its games at "Trixie's Lounge."

Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?

We've typically been good for one B1G road win a year. I think this has to be it if we want to get to six wins. Can we win at Nebraska or Purdue? Sure. Will we? I doubt it. Can we win at Penn State? No chance.

Pretty cool story about a kid who plays for Samford. His mother remarried when he was in the second grade, and his stepfather essentially raised him. So before family weekend, he changed his last name to that of his stepfather, who had no biological children and therefore, name his wouldn't go on. Now it will.

Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?

That's two schools for whom we've created the darkest/lowest moment in football history. ... When we beat Ohio State in 1987,- and we didn't just beat them, we whipped their a$$es -- in Columbus, no less -- the then-coach of the Nuts called it the darkest day in the history of Ohio State football!
  12. Once we got that quick 21-0 lead, I was worried this would happen. Very lackadaisical since. After a start like that, it's easy to picture a 58-7 win. More likely is something like 35-14. We just don't seem to know how to step on an opponent's throat when they're down.
  13. Whop's gotta catch that.
  14. Maybe Rutger shoulda brought the rest of the fellas.
  15. Damn! ... Gotta watch via the app (laptop) again. My area's BTN channel is showing Toiletmakers at Maryland. ... So damn sick of the BTN. Haven't seen one actual game on TV this year (other than the Ohio State debacle).

    Daily MLB Banter

Since I'm a Cubs fan, I was gonna pout and not watch this postseason. But I'm not sure I'll be able to turn away from Astros-Yankees. A 107-win team against a 103-win squad? Should be epic. (Of course, now that I've written that, it'll last just five games and be sloppy and boring!)

Pro and college football helmets merged

That was pretty interesting, but I can't figure out why they combined the Bears with DePaul -- other than that DePaul is in Chicago, I guess. DePaul doesn't even play football. Seems to me as if that should be a prerequisite. Maybe Northwestern would've been a better fit -- at least in my opinion.

    RIP Coach Knight

You don't have any idea about the time Downing mentions Knight might go to an IU game this year, do you? ... I would love to give this a listen, but unfortunately, I just don't have nearly two hours to devote to it anytime soon.

So, after coaching six college football games (no, I don't count the three last season), Ryan Day is ready for the NFL? ... Is there a joke I'm missing here somewhere? ... And before somebody tells me he has coached in the NFL -- yes, I realize that. He was the QBs coach for two seasons for two different teams. To me, that is a completely inadequate resume for what's supposed to the the best football league in the world, so maybe I am missing something ...

    Music Thread

Happy 68th Birthday to my favorite rocker and one of the great Hoosier fans: John Mellencamp. "Scarecrow" came out in the summer before my senior year in high school. As soon as I heard "Lonely Old Night" on the radio, I ran out (well, actually drove out) to the record store to get a cassette (yes, that was just before CDs). I played it so much that it wore out and I had to get another. Love this ditty, "Minutes to Memories." Reminds me a little of my pop, who passed away a little more than two years ago. I can just picture him as the 77-year-old on the bus, saying "Suck it up and tough it out and be the best you can." Happy Birthday, John -- and thanks for all the great music!

    UFC/Boxing Fans

Big GGG fan, but man, did he look old and slow last night. I think he got totally screwed in both fights against Alvarez, and should be 2-0 instead of 0-1-1 against him, but if he had lost the decision to Derevyanchenko last night, I wouldn't have fussed. And that was with a two-point head start because of the first-round knockdown. If he does get a third fight against Alvarez and performs like he did last night, he will either lose a lopsided decision (legit this time) or get stopped in the latter rounds. He's such a tough muther that I don't see necessarily Alvarez knocking him down or out, but I can see him getting battered so badly that by the 10th or 11th round, the ref just has to stop it. Time catches up to us all, GGG. Either that, or something isn't working right. I'd recommend either going back to your old trainer -- or just hanging up the gloves. It's just too bad nobody wanted to fight you when you were at your best.
