I don't know what implored me to do so, but I just read "Coach K" -- which came out a few years ago. I know the express purpose wasn't necessarily to give us a rosy picture of the man, but since the author let Duke and Coach K know of any "bad parts" before publication -- and they OK'd everything -- I can't help but think that was an underlying goal. But honestly, after reading it, I like the man less. And I didn't like him much to begin with.

Diana Taurasi is retiring. ESPN headline: "Goodbye to the GOAT." But is she the greatest of all time? Maybe in terms of accomplishments, but in her era -- there were many more accomplishments to be had. I guess I'm old school: I'm going with Cheryl Miller -- aka Reggie's older sister.

It's the Battle of the Bens. Think that one's actually on the Deuce. I remember years ago, Northern's coach -- Ben Jacobson -- was the flavor of the month (like Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens) after knocking off No. 1 seed Kansas in the 2nd round of the NCAAs. Pretty sure he had offers, but he stayed put -- been there 19 years now. Probably worked out for the best, too.
