I think Brownell's "rumored connection" to IU is born purely from writers speculating that he could be a candidate. And that is for two reasons 1) He's had a couple very good seasons 2) He's from Indiana and I would think about 90% of that speculation is because of No. 2. I obviously don't know for sure, but I have doubts that he is or ever was a serious candidate.

Last time IU went to the Final Four, Mike Davis was the coach. Weber never coached at IU. Neither did Self. LOL

This might be one of the most idiotic pieces of sh1t I've read in a good while. Headline says 8 coaches have rejected IU after Woody announcement. This guy did absolutely no reporting on his own. It's all coming from someone named Joe Tipton. Let's break it down. Our top target was Dusty May, who just re-upped with Michigan. Then we went after Drew and Otzelberger, who are happy in their current situations. Then he mentions Chris Beard -- and the sordid debate that creates. Then Buzz Williams "has been mentioned" -- but his interest is minimal. Greg McDermott "might have interest, but it appears Indiana hasn't pursued him yet." He then says that leaves us with two candidates: McCollum and Brownell. So, those are the eight who've "rejected" us. First of all, Beard has not rejected us. Williams has not rejected us. McDermott has not rejected us -- and neither have McCollum and Brownell. Maybe you could say May did "reject" us by signing the Michigan extension, but I'm not so sure Drew and Otz have "rejected" us. One guy signs an extension at his current school -- and that means 8 guys rejected us.
