(2027 IUWBB) - Micah Ojo
LamarCheeks replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Have not seen her yet, but she plays her home games about 5 miles from where I live. Comes from a basketball factory -- school has won 15 state titles. South Carolina has already offered and by the time she's actually a senior, she'll have her pick of schools -- and get a hefty paycheck. We're the longest of longshots -- but if you don't ask ... -
The Official Btown Banners Beer Thread!

The perfect place for this. RIP -- Norm Peterson (George Wendt). My favorite character on my favorite all-time sitcom. Fitting -- he died on the 32nd anniversary of the airing of the final episode of "Cheers." NOBODY loved beer more than Norm. -

Did we get a new recruit? There's just this reply: "I like the squad we put together" to this post: "To Indiana. That helps IU Ladies alot" I looked for the original "To Indiana" post to see if it added context, but found nothing. Color me very confused ... -

An example of the dysfunction that has been IU basketball recently ... If Leal does get a waiver for next season, he will have played for three different head coaches -- and all were full-time, "permanent" coaches. None was an interim. -

Since Leal and Goode have applied for waivers, CDD apparently is fine with both returning. I'd be curious to see how it went with all the other guys. Were any welcomed back, but wanted to leave? Did any want to come back, but CDD told them it'd be best to move along? Don't wanna say a mutual parting -- that's too easy! Although I suppose many fell into that category. CDD said during his opening presser he'd sit down with everyone and if it was best for guys to move on -- no hard feelings. -

Sorry if this has been asked -- or maybe it's assumed -- but I can't read back through all these pages to get at the origin of the Leal saga. Is this a real thing -- or just speculation? Do we know for sure he even wants to come back? Does CDD want him back? Has he applied for a waiver? I've got nothing against the kid, but I think if I were the NCAA, I'd probably say: "Look -- you've had four full years and a partial fifth. That's enough. No waiver." I'd have a little different tack with Goode. He's had three full seasons with a partial fourth. -

You miss the days of Al driving haphazardly to the bucket and flinging up a shot against 3 bigger defenders and having no idea where it was going? -

Sorry, I have not been following this thread as religiously as some. How in the world did we get to discussing Leal? Dude's already played five seasons. Who's next -- Al Durham? -

I kinda like this guy. Most say they're 100% committed. White goes way beyond that! -

TBH, never been a fan. Way too smarmy for my taste ... -
RIP, Mongo ... One of the most colorful characters on a team full of characters. Was so much fun watching that 1985 squad. Glad he got to live to see his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame.

LOL. I had the same thought ... -
If you know how to slide, you don't hurt an ankle. These are major leaguers. With a smart second baseman, that injury is easily avoidable.
-
Never said it was dirty. Said it was stupid. If the second baseman were smart, that could've easily been avoided.
-
There's plenty he could have done. He could have stopped before getting to the bag. Or he could have slid into it. It was a reckless, stupid play -- not a freak accident. That space belonged to the baserunner. No need for him to cross into it.
-
So, this just happened in Houston -- Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. Luis Arraez of the Padres was knocked cold. Was carted off the field after about a 15-minute delay. Obviously, there was no ill intent -- but what an incredibly stupid play by the Houston kid. If you're a second baseman covering first, you gotta figure out some way to stop -- maybe you slide into the bag. But you can't run through it like that. Good grief. The announcers were trying to cut him a break, saying it wasn't his fault and it wasn't avoidable. It was totally his fault and was completely avoidable. https://x.com/TalkinBaseball_/status/1914097293143195835

Interesting take from the young Ms. Goodman. Not sure I agree, however. Bargesser is very athletic -- great foot speed, can defend pretty well and is a good ball-handler. But she couldn't throw the ball into the ocean, and doesn't have great basketball skills. I suppose she makes a nice point guard, if you're OK with your point guard not scoring much. As far as a "ton of growth" -- I thought she was better as a sophomore. https://x.com/TaliaGoodmanWBB/status/1913702229758075105 -
A big negative -- he looks like the Amish kid at Purdue! LOL.
