We need the vibes of one week ago today back in this place. I was so young and carefree, giddy as a schoolgirl…now I’m *Matt Damon aging in Saving Private Ryan* gif

Frankly, those of us who are IU basketball and Colts football fans are due for something this epically positive to happen.
-
-Not older than 50 years. -Coaches a modern style of basketball. It’s fine if the team gets out in transition frequently, but elite with sets, BLOB, situational basketball. -Less coach speak, more substance with fans that largely know the game and are tired of being treated like imbeciles. -Has energy and can coach it. -Calm coaching demeanor, but willing to “take over the room” (or gym) when warranted -Adaptability -Has a personal history of having to earn his own way. Graduating from a blue-collar high school like say, Eastern Greene, doesn’t hurt ;)

I’m the biggest Dusty homer that there is. If we can lure him, I’d be beyond thrilled. For the few doubters of him left, keep doubting. He’ll just keep getting better and proving people wrong. I would love to be wrong, but I’m about to have myself talked out of him leaving UM. Maybe I put too much stock into what his family says. I’m not sure anyone besides him really knows. But if it can’t be Dusty, just find another coach born in 1976 I guess. What a year for head coach births.
-
Also, put me down for being absolutely thrilled if it’s Dusty. I was saying the same last year before he did what he’s doing at UM. The guy gets it and is an incredible coach. I would be thrilled with Brad (of course!!), but won’t be surprised in 20 years if we think, “Man, why didn’t we hire Dusty?!”

This. I really don’t think this can be overstated. Can anyone (USPS maybe?) remember a major scheduling non-con series like that being announced without the coach in place? Seems highly unusual to me. The head coach is normally very involved with that process.

IUBB vs Michigan - Saturday, 02.08.25 @ 1:00 on CBS

Yeah, I know. That’s part of why it’s such a big rivalry. Not far between the schools and closely tied in so many ways. It’s kinda like how Solsberry is a small town, but a ton of people have a Solsberry address. That’s what happens in the sticks. I grew up in Solsberry. -

Not true. Eastern is (unfortunately) a Bloomfield address. -
I’m sorry, but Goodman is an idiot. To hear him (and most national guys) tell it, no one is available, unless they are a grossly underpaid mid-major coach. (Almost) anyone is available for a price, and even if IU basketball has lost a lot of its luster, it still can meet nearly any price it wants to.
-
I don’t buy that anything is being “contemplated” other than how much money they are paying him to go away.

Fwiw (admittedly not much), my wife is a good ole southern Indiana girl and lived in Boston for 4 years of college. She didn’t care for the city at all. We both agreed it’s a great place to visit, but wouldn’t enjoy living there long-term. So I’m saying you can take the Brad out of Indiana, but you can’t take the Indiana out of Brad.

At least Woodson continues to leave no doubt about being a terrible coach. That whole last 2-3 sequences were all about who has the better head coach. I feel for the guys because most of them probably deserved to pull the game out. But alas… You could have put the ball in about 3-4 different player’s hands and I wouldn’t have said a word. But Rice? Come on. I can’t be the only one thinking Woody didn’t use 1 of the timeouts left because he saw how using a timeout at the end of the Maryland game went.

Probably googling Brian Smith tonight.

Barnhizer’s dad Mark was the high school coach of Dusty May at my high school. Can’t help but pull for the kid. Plays harder than most players in the conference and always gets up for IU. -

This. Exactly and well said. I bring up the Woj thing all the time. I think the clip had Jalen Rose on it when Woj reported it? Way too specific for there to be nothing there.
-
Sooo did the flight leave? We'll probably get a team video soon with Woody and the players getting on the plane, like nothing has changed. Don’t tell Kathy, but if that’s the case, I’ll be right back to my visceral, knee-jerk emotionalism.

To be fair, the last time a coach corrected him, there were apparently punches thrown haha Sent from my iPhone using [emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]][emoji637]]BtownBanners mobile app

Serious question because I watch more NFL…Carpenter shouldn’t have been that dumb but don’t you have to have actually stepped out? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

How can you watch a game like UM and Arkansas, then watch the king of Indiana’s brand and think, “Yeah, this is it”? Fire Mike Woodson! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
