Why not just go all in and support Woodson? for all those that prefer Oats, Musselman, Beard etc, how many more Championships do they have? Woodson has forgot more about hoops than they know. He understands the game..period. Can't even argue that. He has been around the upper echelon of Basketball for the past 25 years, even a moron would benefit from this type of experience. Does this relate to success Coaching at IU, we will find out. I'd think from a recruiting standpoint this is pretty awesome. Very Successful playing career, both College and NBA with tons of NBA Coaching experience, that HAS to play well with recruits and parents who have "next level" playing aspirations. Matta will certainly be able to help fill the gaps in the "College Basketball process's" that Woodson lacks. Seems to me they have already addresses that "what is lacking" with this hire question. I doubt Woodson is doing this for money or career development, probably has more to do with just loving the University and the program. Maybe that has been the "missing ingredient" over the last 12-15 years? It could always be worse, but, honestly how much worse could it get?

I don't disagree with that but I will say. Any kid that comes to play Hoops at IU better be able to process and comprehend an off the cuff comment made in a film room by an NBA Coach years earlier to a bunch of players who were getting beat every night and not practicing and paying attention in the film room. If they can't, I don't think they are going to be able to handle wearing our candystripes so it is probably best they do go play for another program. How are they going to handle playing on the road in the Big Ten when they themselves are getting called much worse. I would also say and I don't doubt that some Coaches would bring it up, any parent/player with a half of brain that would put mustard into some some Coach coming in and saying "Coach B, well he will just call you a thug" probably should be thinking about why that Coach isn't selling me on his program as opposed to negative selling me on another program. I know it happens and I know it probably works at times...again, is that the mentality of a player you really want playing for you that would be swayed by this kind of garbage? The "Thug" comment is way overblown. John and ownership parted ways because John had expectations that during practice players practiced. Instead, they were playing video games, late for practice etc. John and Ownership had different views on how to handle this. His Thug comment had nothing to do with them parting ways. John wanted a team and wasn't willing to sacrifice process for primadonna's. John's style does not work in the NBA, he'd be the first to tell you that, now.

My guess is they already have an agreement with the next Coach. I don't think you make this move and figure it out as you go. Too much money involved. Plus, you get the new Coach in, talk to players and recruits and give them time to make the decision best for them.

Well, thank god this season is over (I hope we don't get offered for NIT). Hopefully next year we have a new Chief at the helm and we can get back to Indiana Basketball. This season was more brutal than Crean's first few years.

I hope that 100% on the same page means they both agree a change has to be made. Anything other than that is just crazy talk.

Prediction: We are about a week away from announcing John Beilein as our next head coach.
