My understanding is that due to his position as President of basketball operations, the only person BS reports to is the owner. I can see it as being possible that he has told his boss, and he is keeping the secret. Other than that, lawyers and agents have legal reasons to be quiet. So it is possible for the leaks to only come from the IU side, where more people are involved.

I’m just struck by how crystal clear May’s recent statement was about not coming to Indiana vs Stevens about how much he loves his co-workers. I liked my co-workers at every job I’ve had. And left them behind when it was time to move on.
-
It seems pretty certain that SD told donors and BOT to shut up. At that point, all the buzz was Stevens. After that our reliable sources here got no more information. If I’m SD, why would I quiet people down (which he did) if they were way off the scent? I’d only do it if they were sharing legitimate information.
-
I really think it would be imperative for SD to keep the new coach’s name under wraps until the season is over. If we’re getting beat and the students start chanting the next coach’s name like the kids at the hickory huskers pep rally chanting “We want Jimmy,” it would be a royally bad look. If on the off-chance SD already has signed someone, it well may be possible to hold the info until IU looses in the B1G, if the people around you are trustworthy and buy into the vision.

Here’s my list of the order I’d call if I were SD 1) stevens 2. may 3. Drew 4. Few 5. Wright 6. Oates 7. McCollum 8. Pitino (Rick) 9. Beard 10. Alford id be happy with everyone but the last, but if everyone else says no, I’d give him his shot.

Since BS is President of basketball operations, who does he report to? Who would he give his notice to if he did decide to leave?

Just to make sure I have everything right. BS and SD go to New Mexico to tour the set of breaking bad. Driving back to the airport, they locate a large hammer in a cratered field with a crimson trident symbol on it. Dozens of college coaches are attempting to lift it but none can. BS tries and succeeds because he alone is worthy to possess the power of Knight. But suddenly, black SUVs arrive with men in sunglasses claiming to be agents of a secret agency—SHIELD OF 68. BS is spirited away in a SUV and then later has a press conference where he seeming to be under duress reads a prepared statement saying that he’s not iron man—-I mean, not a candidate for the IU position. Only one reporter named Goodman is invited to the press conference. He reports this. Later someone who looks like BS is seen at the all-star game eating popcorn and hanging out with Samuel L. Jackson, who is wearing a Boiler-up eye patch.

This is a really good summary of the last two weeks.

Exactly. Look, I don’t know about some newer posters, but Chris007 and JerryYeagley don’t come off as trolls or liars. If they are they should go into the CIA and get paid as agents because they’re very convincing. The quote itself with its vagueness and the fact it’s only Goodman just seems odd. I’m not giving up hope until after Tuesday night. If there’s any truth to what we’ve heard, he’ll sign Monday, and this will leak by Tuesday.

This morning it was posted on here and another poster backed it up that SD met with Indiana AAU coaches yesterday and told them the target was someone not currently coaching college and that this person had asked for two weeks to make his decision.
-
The fact that things have gone silent since this morning really lends credence to me that the rumors are right. If BS has an offer in hand, and now it’s up to him, then there really can’t be any new news until he makes up his mind. The AAU meeting, the two week deadline, and strengthening the schedule seem to argue that this is legit and Dolson has made the offer and after that the ball is in his (BS) court. It’s a huge decision for him. Hopefully he takes the shot!

They don’t always have connections or confirmation and they don’t want to burn bridges by betraying confidential information. Some people on here have legit connections and hear things. Even a nobody like me lucked out when the Romeo Langford thing was going on—my niece was a New Albany cheerleader and friends with Romeo and she told me he told her he had decided he was going to IU and I posted that info here days before there was any national media confirmation—because none of them were imbedded as a good looking teenager girl hanging out with him. That’s the strength of this message board.

So Don Fischer is the guy running this?
-
I don’t get why a meeting would even happen in Miami. Is there something I’m missing? Why not meet here or in Boston or somewhere in the middle beneath an old Georgia pine? Or just zoom meet?

I think this silence is a very positive indicator.

He could hire Beard as his assistant.

Every four years this board becomes a major addiction. Constantly refreshing!

Thanks for setting this up! -
If it’s Brad we should know in a couple weeks. That’s the good thing about Woodson’s fate being known. Nothing to stop Brad from being pursued now.

Does anyone have an inside scoop on where the b10 tournament will be held in 2025?

I Remember those transfers Dean Garrett and Keith Smart in 1987...no championship without them!

At least he got away with the one at the end of the game. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

I hate the three guard offense. Our last championship had a true center in Dean Garret and great forwards in Thomas and Calloway. Woody gets it. -

I was thinking that when the UK program was devastated after the money in envelopes scandal, the University brought in an ex basketball coach from their conference (CM Newton) to be AD and work hand in hand with the new coaching hire from the New York Nicks (Pitino). Much to my chagrin, they turned the program around in 2 years, which no one thought was possible...I can see Matta and Woodson doing the same thing at IU. -
