With as sensitive the culture is at these college institutions nowadays it leaves me completely flabbergasted that something like this can be going on. Not only is it not classy as you say, it’s completely childish and something you would expect from a 10-year-old

That would be understandable to some degree maybe during the regular season, but during the tournament, and possibly going to the sweet 16 does not seem to be very gracious at the least.

If so, that should raise some major red flags, Imo. Also, to have none of the assistant coaches, or any of the players there is beyond bizarre.

I don’t understand why none of the coaching staff or players would be at the girls game. It just doesn’t make any sense. Am I missing something or is there some kind of issue going on?

This admin needs to understand “poo or get off the pot”. A program in limbo is in the dead zone. A P5 program needs a leader that builds momentum in all facets and obviously HS recruiting. Energy, enthusiasm etc.. If this info is true, this is a disaster plan imo.

You would think if they’re going to hit the portal, it would be sooner than later, though, but points well taken.. maybe they’re well paid and more content than we know.

They believe they are the best for IU ..It’s just impatient fans that don’t give them the necessary time. Lol. I can go down the rabbit hole as good as anybody with conspiracy, but I do believe they care about their legacy and would like to be a great player and a great coach. He may now have got a real taste of what it takes to get that job done maybe or maybe not.

I would imagine players hitting the portal would be announcing that anytime now.

You get paid incredibly well even if you fail here so what’s the big deal? This is the big leagues…not Smurf ball.

Probably means a player has decided to stay or is getting a big bonus to stay, but he's going to need way more than one IMO.

IMO this new model only works if several key players stay on board and the portal is a grand slam with starter level players who have 2/3 years of eligibility left. Tall task year in and year out.

And to add to your point, is whatever happened to the Bob Knight philosophy when he used to go and (recruit) talk to the parents and tell them that his number one job was to make sure the kids get an education and to help them be successful in life. This new fangled approach seems to be only about $$$$, winning and nothing to do with college or academics for the young Highschool players. Strange that an older Bob Knight protégé would be in this mindset.

It does seem like a really good way to not have to go out on the high school recruiting trail though.

I would offer Sampson a fat contract to atone for our past transgressions.
