I like Devries, and he seems like the type of guy who is gonna be more than willing to change and adapt however necessary to be successful here. This years shortcomings gave him a blueprint of what he needs to get from a roster standpoint moving forward that competes in the Big Ten. Obviously we wanted to make the tournament, and probably should have, but I think you could flip the coin over and say it was impressive for Devries to get this team to win 18 games. It was a roster full of mid majors that were not big enough, athletic enough, talented enough, etc to go up against elite type of players that most teams have in this conference. Is it on Devries that this roster was built the way it was? Absolutely. But I think he did a pretty good job with the limitations this roster had. Winning 18 games with this roster shows me he can win big if given the right roster full of actual studs who belong in the Big Ten. The system works. A lot of times we jump out and take leads on teams, but just get wore out too quick to keep up with better athletes and crap the bed because we just can’t keep up. We need the horses. Let Carr build him a good roster to have at his disposal before we start thinking he can’t get the job done.

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
IUrocker replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Miami plays dirty and I hate that. Hopefully they don’t try anything stupid on purpose and try to get away with it. Their last game had handful of late hits, roughing the passer, unnecessary shoves out of bounds. Leave no doubt. Beat these A-holes by 40. -
I just think Devries tried building the type of roster he had at WV and insisted it was going to work. He can now clearly see that it’s not working like he thought it would, seeing first hand the type of size and athleticism in front of him, and will adjust accordingly to fit the Big10 when building his next roster. Our inside game is obviously a yikes, especially with Bailey being so dang soft, and I’m sure Devries is gonna know to avoid that going forward.

Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
IUrocker replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Signed a new extension to stay a Hoosier. Good through 2033…$11.6 million a year. Cig: “I couldn’t be more proud to be a Hoosier…I plan on retiring as a Hoosier..” -

Here’s what he said last year after he got his extension…being asked pretty much exactly what’s happening now.. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/19osddGMsb/?mibextid=wwXIfr -
Cool to see Dolson right there in the video enjoying the result.

Anxiously awaiting clips of the new guys on campus with Coach Devries. Excited to get this new era started and see how everyone looks together. Edit: IU basketball Facebook page posted highlight clip of first practice today.

Yep, Im just thinking this is a refreshing change from the Woodson era of throwing out money to anyone like he’s Oprah. DeVries is going to be a lot more picky and selective when choosing who he wants to form his TEAM. We aren’t hearing a bunch of names in the pot already because he isn’t going to be fine with just trying to get the highest rated guys he can and be the highest bidder. DeVries is building a culture. A culture the complete opposite of the last regime. -

McCollum on Dakich show now, saying “we don’t like getting kids who are moody, or soft…I don’t like to call kids soft, but who are soft. Ones who lack toughness. Those are the types of kids who will get you out our program real quick.” I like the sound of that. If we end up needing to go with him, it’s those types of comments that’ll get me on board in a hurry.

Being so anxious to see who we get as coach is making the end of this season take forever.

If Goodman is right then I really want it to be Beard. I just think if he got the IU job he’d make sure not to screw it up doing something stupid. He’d make us a tough hard working team again. Still holding out hope that Goodmans take is just false, but if no Stevens, Drew, or Otz, then I’d rather have Beard.

Yeah true, I wasn’t thinking about Texas being his dream job. I guess I was just basing my comment off how nowadays he and his agent seem to be pushing for wanting the job.

Yeah true, I wasn’t thinking Texas as being Beards dream job.

I understand the hesitation with Beard because of his personal issues he may have outside of being a basketball coach. On the other side of all that, the thing that intrigues me about him being the coach compared to others on the list is that IU is clearly his destination dream job that he would crawl to get to. People who want a job that bad would do a heck of a job at making sure they’re a success. Like I said, i understand not wanting him and agree with those points, but there comes a time where why would you want to have to continue to beg and bribe a coach to want to come here when you could have a solid guy who dreams of having the job….are there better candidates? Absolutely…but I wouldn’t be upset if we ended up with Beard (even though I doubt it’d end up happening).
