Man, if Woodson strikes out in the portal I’m gonna feel so guilty as fan knowing it was all my fault. -

I wonder how Javon Small’s “feeding it into the post” skills are. If it’s something he wants to brush up, then IU is the place for him -

True, I agree. I think I just mistakenly worded that in a way that suggested it wasn’t something he indeed already does. -

And that just drives me crazy. I’d MUCH rather get a staff in here who could strike gold on the ‘25 class to develop and build a program with than to have Woodson think he’s doing good by buying the “best ranked” portal plug ins. Him being lazy about recruiting and just preferring to treat this like an NBA free agency sucks. Let’s just use someone’s money to try and buy players in hopes to cover me up sucking as a college coach. Makes a grown man wanna cry ha. I agree with someone else who said now that Woodson knows people don’t like him, he’s just gonna throw his middle finger in the air and go against what anyone but himself wants to do. -

I wonder if when Dolson had player meetings if he was like “if any of you who want to leave, do you think you’d stay if I was able to land this guy..”, or if they truly do want to play for Woodson, or are fine with just getting a pay bump to play for him again. I thought I saw someone mention maybe some of the players are gonna wait out deciding on entering the portal based on if we end up getting a new coach that they’d be willing to stay for. -

Yeah that’s what’s making me hope certain scenarios can work themselves out where he gets the boot. Certainly not saying your info is wrong, and that does indeed bum me out knowing it’s what you’re hearing, but knowing there’s still others out there who think something could happen where a change could be made makes it REALLY hard to accept the fact that he’ll be here and try to turn my focus to how his season is going to go. I guess when you want someone gone so bad you just look for any teeny tiny speck of light that could lead to it. -

So at this point are we 100% certain Mike Woodson will be the coach for the 2024-25 season, or are there still things that could happen that makes Dolson be able to get someone else before next season starts? Just want to know if it’s worth clinging to the sliver of hope i have left that there could still be scenarios that happen that make him not end up being the coach. If not then whatever, and I’ll just try to shift to the “acceptance” stage for next season haha -

Yep, the other day when you said he’s putting together a staff for Louisville I automatically got pi$$ed cuz I knew it’s gonna be one I wish we had at IU -

I know some people say maybe Mike worked some magic and got everyone to stay. Maybe I’m not thinking correctly on this, but wouldn’t that not be very encouraging either? Keeping the same group of guys that might have snuck into the NIT? I think it’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t with what Woodson does at this point. Keep everyone he has now means how can we change from the season we just had, or mostly everyone he has leaves and he buys a bunch of players he can’t do anything with. Ahhh misery ha. Ready for the tournament to get here to see if any results of others end up starting to produce some traction for who is gonna be getting who in regards to the coaching carousel. -

Especially knowing he’s getting paid triple the amount just to talk up his coach and say we should chill because they’re gonna run it back next year. -

So in that case, we just hope he puts together a good team and know next year will be his last and announces retirement, or should we be worried that if he actually is able to put together a stellar group and do really well that it’d have him stay even longer? I know Jerry mentioned Dolson putting expectations on him as far as wins/losses go, so I wonder if it’d be safe to just kinda root for a pretty decent year and as long as he doesn’t make the Final Four or win B10 championship then we’ll know he’s gone and we can be done with the mercenary crap. If he is gonna get to be here for his 4th year even if he strikes out in the offseason with people leaving, then it kinda seems pointless to hope that it happens….because if it did make him get kicked out and we move on to someone else then I'm sure most here would hope he strikes out ha -

Yep, which those were probably a given anyways and I would assume doesn’t really move the needle on the situation as far as who we are losing on the roster. -

Hopefully this turns out to be a matter of we’re keeping word out with plans of Woodson being here next year just for optics and getting started on the portal if he is indeed going to be here, and then if Pearl exits tournament somewhat early and is available to pounce on, we make the move. Have to say that Woodson is the coach for now unless the other two candidates fall in your lap and can get their building process started. If it doesn’t work out that we get Pearl or May by a certain time, then you still have Woodson doing his portal stuff to continue on with his last season and we go from there. -

Yeah you would think it comes to a point for some of these guys where money is nice, but they could play for a contender and not have to risk going through another season like this one (or worse) and still get paid plenty of money from the other school. So I guess we’ll find out if these guys don’t care if they have another year like this as long as IU pays them the most, or they end up being like screw that, I could go to a good team, win a lot, and get paid as much as I already was here and just not give a damn about a bump in pay just to stick around. To add to this, with Liam backing out, we know playing style probably had something to do with it, but also makes you wonder if he had chats with any of the current players and pretty much suggested don’t do it man, we’re leaving anyways. -

So if he’s for sure coming back next year and is planning on it most likely being his last, if Dusty May is one of the two that has definite interest, I wonder if that means Dolson has a plan with him to know he could be lined up after next season once Woodson “retires”, or if Dolson plans on just paying to take Dusty away from wherever he ends up next year IF he indeed takes a bigger job elsewhere instead of waiting on us. Pearl would obviously be different because we would be taking him from where he’s already been anyways. So really does make you wonder the chances of a change being made after this tournament and whether those chances go up or not. Like I said, if it’s Pearl and May who are the two that Dolson knows has interest and could get to come here, he’d have to know to take Dusty away from a new job if we see him end up taking one after this year and we don’t make the move. So that transition between who we actually get AFTER next season, if that ends up for sure being how it goes, is interesting. -

Gotcha, yeah I figured maybe that could be the case as well. So if it’s not Dusty when you say “if our next coach is in the tournament..”, is it fair to still hope there’s someone other than Dusty we could be getting other than it for sure being Woodson coming back? -

I’ll admit, before this season started and we got a group of transfers, I was excited. I was like ok cool we’ve got this new group of players who are supposed to be really good, we’ll look like a completely different team, this ought to be fun. Now that I’ve seen the result of doing such things with this staff, I just can’t fathom having any type of excitement for anything no matter who they get through the portal with Woodson. I really really can’t stand not looking forward to IU basketball. I used to schedule some of my vacation days around certain games they had on the schedule, but now if they have games on days I have off, I look for overtime any chance I get lol. Game days took forever because I was anxiously awaiting tipoff. Now I just check my phone for the score to see if they happen to be winning or not. Just so damn sad and beyond frustrating. -

I know this probably isn’t true and is most likely laughable, I even laugh at it myself, but I’ve gotten to the point of it running through my mind that Quinn and Woodson are just trying to make sure IU doesn’t live up to the “glory days” of when they played so they’re making sure we miss out on good hires and not risk IU being a true blue blood top 10 team all the time again. I know that’s ridiculous but when you want guys gone bad enough, stuff like that starts to circle the brain box haha. I know Quinn and Woodson love IU, so it’s like damnit if that’s the case, do what’s best for the program and be done! -

If Dolson does indeed to try to continue to sell wrapping up Dusty, I wonder how much long he has from today to decide to just go ahead and pull the trigger or talk people into it….or if all the time in the world is already gone for that option and won’t matter if he still continues to try to pull strings. -

Yeah I saw him say in this thread last night that he wanted to see how the tournament ended and could give update in day or two, so either today or tomorrow.
