(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I agree that by no means do we have a superstar stud class coming in. However, I do see it as one that will be an instant upgrade in the talent we were missing this season. -

That is indeed a fair point that Yogi came in with more talent right off the bat while Phinisee will have unproven freshman to work with, and I totally agree...but I’m still not gonna assume Phinisee is gonna come in and be a project. People can either look at it as unfair expectations, or confidence in the opinion that the class coming in excels the seniors leaving the program. -

Phinisee, Hunter, Anderson, Forrester, Thompson > Newkirk, Johnson, Hartman, McSwain, Priller. Obviously getting Romeo is a major upgrade in itself, but the guys we have coming in immediately fix the biggest issue we had this season, which was shooting. I know it seems out of the realm to think Phinisee can come right in and excel at the point his freshman year, but if Yogi can do it, why can’t he? Yes, I know, Yogi was regarded as the higher class recruit coming in than what Phinisee is, but still doesn’t dismiss the fact that Phinisee isn’t going to be able to do it as well. It’s obviously gonna be a wait and see type of thing, and nothing is guaranteed, but to say I’m excited about what our roster could look like next season is an understatement. -
We will definitely be better next year and can officially witness an Archie recruited team. Not only do we have guys coming in who can shoot (which that in itself is a major plus and repair what needed fixed this season), but we have a group of players who committed to playing for Archie who right off the bat will fit his style and buy into what he wants to do. I appreciate what our seniors and whoever else who may decide to transfer for what they’ve done at IU, but knowing next year’s team is going to pretty much get a complete reboot and fresh new faces is an exciting thing and I can’t wait.

It’s gonna drive me nuts to lose this game and then see Purdue beat them by 40.
-
Playing like this makes me lean towards the “can’t wait until next season” thinking...
-
Rutgers definitely is pushing off

2017-18 Hoosiers: quickest shift from saying “I hope they keep playing this year, they deserve it, fun to watch.”.... to...“WTF!! I hope we just lose! Next season can’t get here quick enough!”....most frustrating team ever, ha. I think I’m right down the middle and can’t make up my mind, lol
-
Annnnd, Archie’s gonna do some yellin’ in the locker room....as he should.
-
That was a lazy ridiculous pass by Green. He does those well.
-
There Newkirk, you got your chance, now sit back down.
-
Dear Lord, I love that we have Archie.

“Ok guys, halftime is over with so we need to make sure we shoot it in the other basket down by where we sit this time, ok? We have 20 minutes again to play basketball. I’ve got you 5 guys starting the half, so the rest of you make sure you sit on the bench, alright? Remember what I taught you guys...if you make a basket, we get points. Now let’s go!” -

Annnnd, this is the team that makes people think next season cant get here soon enough. Bonehead mistakes and turnovers showing their ugly heads. I thought for sure having a game like this was in the rear view mirror, but I guess with this roster, you can’t be surprised that it’s not. I have faith that they can turn it around and beat OSU, but man, all those careless turnovers are so ugly. Let’s get a good win against Ohio State at home. Still pulling for this team to do well, but can’t hide the fact that I’m excited about the roster overhaul next season. -

I honesty don’t get how players don’t notice the time on the shot clock. Pay attention Green. -

People think that if he announces at the McDonald's All-American game that he will probably commit to Vandy since Garland will be there. Isn't there a good possibility that he's not gonna care at all what Garland thinks about his choice and be just fine with committing to IU at the game? Like I've seen before, he could be all about IU and know that announcing at the game, wherever he goes, puts that school and his brand on a stage in itself. I'd like to think his own college choice/future will sit well above making someone "mad" about his college decision. -

This is just me, but if I was being recruited by both Archie and Drew, something about the way Drew is going about this with Romeo would make it kind of unappealing to me compared to how Archie is handling things. Drew, in a goofy way of putting it, seems to be going way over the top with his tongue hanging out drooling over Romeo in somewhat of a begging and pleading manner trying to get him, trying to persuade him as much as he can, while Archie just seems confident, and cool as a cucumber with the whole thing. Archie puts off having the mindset of "you know what, we definitely would love to have you, we would be an outstanding team if you joined us and created your own special legacy, but at the same time, i know what i'm capable of as a coach, I know what we have coming in, and we're going to be just fine without you if you choose to go elsewhere." That would be so much more intriguing to me than to commit to a coach who just seems to be annoying and a hound about the whole thing. It just really makes it look like Drew is thinking "please, please, come here so you can make me look like a better coach than i actually am". -

Whelp, putting Newkirk back in just kinda ruined that little thing we had going there... -

Something else that’s good to see the huge smile and joy on Devonte’s face. Earlier in the year he looked like the last place he wanted to be was on this team and I think he has finally humbled up, realized what Archie is wanting him to do is working, and he’s having fun. He and Johnson are ballin’ today. -

Frustrating to know the athleticism of Justin Smith, but to see how soft and timid he can be. It’ll take time I suppose, but can’t wait until the day he becomes fearless. -

Romeo saying something like it "would be cool playing with him", in my eyes, could be the same thing as saying Archie "would be fun playing for". I think it's a pretty safe comment and doesn't really point to Vandy too much. If he said Archie "would be fun to play for", would people be like "sweet! he's coming to IU!"...not necessarily. -

Could be...and then hopefully Romeo’s family being there would be a good thing so as to prevent him from making any rash, horrible decisions.
