As sad as it is, and I would never root for our players to lose, it kinda sucks that the only way we could move on from a coach we don’t want anymore is for the team to lose out, which in the back of your mind makes you hope it happens to cause change. His “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon guys, I’m just not “ (cuz I’m Mike Woodson)…just really makes me mad. Almost laughably mad. I remember him about a month ago or so before it got THIS hostile, whether it was on Don Fischer’s show or a presser, not too sure on that, he said “I just hope the fans still love me”….lol well at this point Coach, I think the only way that could happen for most people is if you man up and realize this is too much for you and do what’s best for the program by stepping aside and letting someone else take the reigns. I just think fans would respect and “love” him a hell of a lot more if he walked away rather than let his stubborn @$$ ego get in the way to try to prove something that isn’t there. -

After Woodson’s comments saying “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon guys, I’m just not”, and knows he’s obviously got Quinn protecting him, do you think at this point the only way he is gone after this season is if a big donor is like “you know what screw this let’s get this guy out of here” and ponies up the cash, or do you think other things could still happen that wouldn’t take something quite as drastic? -

Yep, and people may argue that it’s a different animal in the Big Ten and would be way easier to win at a place like FAU than at IU, but I would counter with he'd be able to get a lot more high caliber players who would be way more willing to play at a place like IU than at FAU, and be able to know how to use those players a heck of a lot more than what we’re seeing now. -

It'll be interesting to see if Reneau has a huge game after Woodson said he was awful, or if he’s like screw this and doesn’t give full effort. I’m curious to see, aside from the outcome of the game, how the coach and players act during the game. Players obviously aren’t blind to what’s going on and if any of them are on the same page we are and have tuned Woodson out, then I’m sure it’ll be more noticeable with how much fan displeasure has seemed to really spread across social media. i know Woodson is saying “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon” and won’t walk away from being able to stuff all that money in his pockets, so I guess at this point people can only hope he gets blindsided by the right people getting rid of him just as bad as he was blindsided by JHS being a pro so soon. The season isn’t over yet so it makes sense either way that he says he’s not going anywhere because any coach is gonna act like they’re the coach until they’re actually not. I just keep wondering if there’s really anything that can happen that would get someone to pull the plug on him and it not have to be as bad as losing out rest of the season. -

Right, no kidding. I could be forgetting some things about the end of Archies run, but I feel like this time with Woodson seems way worse than wanting Archie gone. Maybe I’m just pissed at his “I’m not going anywhere because I’m Mike Woodson” demeanor. -

I mean, with the outlook for next season paired up with how Woodson has been acting lately….have we reached the point yet of wanting him gone more so than Archie, or not yet? That was something I saw Jim Coyle bring up on his show because he had a fan text it in. He didn’t think we have reached the point YET with Woodson that we did of wanting Archie out. -

Seems like most of the media outlets are putting out stories with the headline of Woodson saying “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon, guys”. What seems different and off about it happening is instead of it being them trying to get fans to back off and realize they need to stop wondering if he’s gonna be gone and just support him, it feels like it’s more of a “well great, this sucks”. -

I’ve seen people say we need to keep Woodson because we can’t keeping going through a cycle of hiring and firing coaches every 3-4 years. I get that…but get rid of this one, and THEN we can stop doing that ha -

At this point I’m hoping someone with money is like guess what Mike, you’re not as cool as you think you are…and lay the money on the table to get him out, haha… …but then he may have the last laugh trying to shove all the money in his pockets… -

Yeah I see that as another excuse in my opinion. I just don’t see any way he thought JHS wasn’t gonna be gone after one year. Like you said, even before he played a game for IU it seemed pretty known that the plan for him was to be gone. We spent a lot of time during the season talking about how we wish he wasn’t going to be. Shoot, I was blindsided by him saying he thought JHS was still gonna be around… -

I wonder if we have any players on the roster who at this point would only want to return if Woodson was gone, and if so, whether they would cause Dolson to try to get the move done if he knows we can keep key pieces together with a new coach…..or if it’s quite the opposite and we have players who won’t want to come back if Woodson is let go. -

This could just be me and taking it the wrong way, but he’s kinda starting to feel very “I call the shots and if Mike Woodson wants to stay then Mike Woodson is gonna stay”, and it’s starting to rub me the wrong way. You can tell he’s hearing the displeasure from people and he’s responding with a “welp, too bad, get over it” mentality. -

So now at this point I wonder if there’s anything that could happen with this season that would make him be fine with just not taking the 4th year even though he knows he’d be able to have it if he wants it…..or if there’s no way he’d entertain that thought process and just want to try to prove this year was some sort of fluke. -

Yeah he seems to be trying extra hard lately (even more so than normal) to make it look like things aren’t his fault. Saying players were awful, it’s not him out there shooting free throws and shooting threes, etc. Just not a good look. -

Mike Woodson on his coaches show a few minutes ago “I’m a realist, man. I mean I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve seen good and bad teams, and it ain’t time to panic, you know, we’ve just got to continue to work and see where it leads us.” -

I really hope Dolson and the administration are smart enough and have the mindset that this isn’t a matter of “well Coach Woodson just needs to bring in a new set of players in the portal to get this fixed.” I’m sure that’s what Woodson is obviously going to try to sell to Dolson if he wants to come back next year. Im seeing a lot more stuff on social media now of Woodson throwing players under the bus and how people are pointing out that it’s getting pretty ridiculous. Just a big ‘ol waste of time to me to build a whole new team with Woodson if we can get a new coach to do the exact same thing with better results. The feel around the games and the team really does seem to be odd lately. If I remember correctly, same thing kind of happened with Archie towards end of his last season. Wheels falling off, mood and demeanor of coaches/players seemed odd, people wanting Archie gone, yet word was he was getting another year and that we were gonna have to go through another season of it…then once season ended, boom, was announced we were moving on. Now I understand that getting rid of Archie when we did, and getting rid of Mike Woodson now are going to be different in the sense of who they are and whatnot (which I don’t think should matter…if Woodson is failing then who cares that he was a former player..nothing against who he is as a player and person), but yeah, just feels like the same thing kinda going on towards the end of Archie’s last season and this one. I could be misremembering though. Also, the whole apathy thing, I agree, as guilty of it myself, and it’s quite sad. I couldn’t WAIT til IU had a game. Family, friends, IU basketball. Now, I know when they have games, but don’t care if I miss it. I don’t want that. -

I’m really hoping if Quinn, Woodson and Dolson sit down to talk it’s to say hey listen, we need to get this thing handed off to this guy waiting on the other side of this damn bridge, but I’ll do you a solid and we can come up with a way to make this look like you’ve done what we needed you to do for the program and are gracefully riding off into the sunset so the new guy can finish what your tried to start. -

I guess I understand wanting to see Dusty get so far in the tournament and if he gets to like E8 or whatever then we should make a move…but are people really not gonna want him anymore if he doesn’t make it that far? I’m of the opinion that it’s really not gonna matter that much to me if he makes it that far in the tournament. Doesn’t that have nothing to do with what he’s able to do at IU with our resources that we are currently seeing Woodson not be able/willing to do? Like I said, I understand that it makes him look really good if he makes it far in the tournament and kinda gives a sense of reassurance to his abilities, but if he only happens to make it to the round of 32 this year it’s not gonna make me think he shouldn’t replace Mike Woodson.
