I didn't have "ability to shut down court storming" on my list of priorities. Need to revisit our other candidates. I'm not sure Mark Turgeon would be as effective in that role.

Conference record is not the most accurate way to measure that. He went from 113 in KenPom to 73. That's a step in the right direction.
-
He took over a bad program and struggled to bring enough talent to improve more quickly. His last year he did make a step in the right direction. But Iowa State was a tough place to bring in talent until Hoiberg started bringing in transfers. McDermott has also changed his offense quite a bit, I think.

2025 Big 10 2nd, Big East 4th 2024 Big 10 3rd, Big East 2nd 2023 Big 10 2nd, Big East 3rd 2022 Big 10 3rd, Big East 4th Per KenPom. To your point, clearly a power conference and pretty comparable to having success in the Big 10.

Also: IU in 2025 is a very different job than Iowa State in 2006 especially when it comes to attracting talent. McDermott is the kind of guy that NIL would benefit greatly.
-
If Few were interested I think he gives you a very successful stretch of basketball. It would be an easy yes for me.

Mr. Unexpected is his way to cover rumors he is hearing that he can't put in print. That is at least a good honest article about the state of the search.
-
In fairness... He received a show cause penalty from the NCAA. We couldn't have kept him if we wanted to.

More like microfissures. You can't see them.

It's the other way around - flight out to Bedford and back to meet with Stevens. Apparently the Celtics use that airport. And in any case for private jets which airport is closest is not the only consideration. But don't take this as a endorsement of the validity! That would just be the theory, I assume.

He's done a great job and seems like a really good coach. In addition to the leap in terms of level, he's also been at the same school in California for 20 years. I'd probably hire him if I were Cal and honestly would rather take my chances there than a Brownell type hire. But doesn't seem to make much sense for IU.
-
I think he is a good coach and would succeed. And NIL would help ensure he gets good players.
-
You know who I would take over Brownell? Niko Medved.
-
Turgeon and Brownell.

Thread should be titled: "General Coach Candidate News But Only the Candidates I Think Should Be Discussed"
-
I am SHOCKED that 10:45 passed without my promised news.
-
Moving Brad Brownell up to the top??

This is also the point in the coaching search to remember that random Trilly discord rumors could be wrong... but also that a reddit user named KatyPerrysBootyHole broke the Jose Quintana trade from the White Sox to the Cubs. So everything's crazy but also nothing is.

Everyone, we did it!! We've made it to the realtor and house search rumors phase!

I don't think Saban leaving for the NFL 20 years ago is that relevant. But ultimately so much of it comes down to individual personalities and intangible factors that it's pretty hard to say anything with absolute certainty.

It is our solemn duty to discuss Brad Stevens as the next IU coach every four years.
-
Mike Woodson doesn't make mistakes. Just ask him.
