Haha oh I know. But he also had a hell of a run at Xavier before that and definitely wasn't paying players then
-
Swain is a guy on NBA radars because he has a lot of upside for the reasons you mention. But needs lot more consistency with the ball and to fix his shot.
-
I think he's still a good coach but had not figured out NIL at Xavier (and NIL is probably very bad for programs like Xavier). But for sure would not consider him a home run hire or sure thing. He's only had one year in his last 6 that anyone would consider successful.

I've seen it, I just respectfully disagree. -

Would love him. -
Luke Murray is the most likely candidate for Xavier.

Yes. He's a really good passer. But so limited in the rest of his offensive game that it's tough to count on him for a lot. Just to add a little color: excellent assist rate, equally terrible turnover rate - both (in my opinion) because he was forced to be more of a playmaker than he's really capable of being (I know he didn't struggle with that as much at Drake but still turned it over far too often there). Poor shooter unless you believe his 2024 is reliable - and his FT% indicates that was an aberration. Doesn't really score much without outside shooting. Best case is that he stops turning it over on a better team/in a better system, continues to pass well, and reliably hits 3s - and that's absolutely a guy we could use. I'm just not optimistic he gets there. -

I'm not convinced Enright is anything more than a back of the bench guy who shouldn't be in the rotation. But would be happy to be wrong if he comes. -
Texas looked deeply at Sean Miller when they kept Terry and the word in Xavier circles is that they're reaching out to him again.

Who isn't a risk?

If Purdue and SIU-Edwardsville both lose Thursday would you say they have had the same season?
-
And at a school that won 9 games a year ago. If you can't see the difference between the seasons IU and West Virginia just had, I don't know what to tell you.
-
On paper this is a much better hire than Kentucky or Louisville made last year (or West Virginia for that matter!) It's a much better hire than anyone has made this year. He's an actual basketball coach. IU will get talent especially in today's NIL world. He'll be set up for success. I'm very optimistic!
-
This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but hiring Devries is not that much different than hiring Kelsey away from Louisville this year.
-
No you aren't allowed to have multiple people who can shoot on one team.
-
2021 was an at large bid.
-
Yup. I can't complain about that. Is there anything out there other than Trilly? He's just talked so much about how out of the loop he is on this search...
-
Interesting - but this reeallly makes it feel like a play by DeVries to get increased NIL at WV.
-
Yes - that's Osterman saying "don't read too much into the DeVries stuff" without being able to come right out and say it.
-
I just don't think any of Rabby's information comes from the IU side, so he's passing along info from agent circles.
-
We could have received a 10% discount if we bought the combo.
-
He also said there's still a mystery candidate
-
That account just guesses based on the same rumors we all see.

It's Brownell - because Dolson spent the last month interviewing Turgeon and, of course, informed Turgeon of his thoughts on the other candidates throughout the process. A week or so ago he let Turgeon know that it was down to six finalists. A few days later, Dolson told Turgeon it was down to Turgeon and Brownell. A couple days ago, Dolson told Turgeon that he would not be hired and Brownell is the choice.

(Don't care that this is another big ten school's campus. I still love it).
