Right. It's an apples-to-oranges, overly simplistic comparison. It's the equivalent of saying, "Mike Woodson is a surefire success because Juwan Howard has been great at Michigan." There's plenty of nuanced conversation to be had about Woodson's strengths and flaws, and no one is overlooking that. But "Sidney Lowe struggled" is not a relevant part of that conversation.

If the difference between college Sidney Lowe and college Mike Woodson matches the difference between NBA Sidney Lowe and NBA Mike Woodson, I'll be thrilled for IU's future.

Groce is head coach at Akron. Jeff Boals at Ohio. Greg Paulus at Niagara. Dave Dickerson was a Thad assistant for 7 years and is now at South Carolina - Upstate. Chris Jent is an assistant for the Hawks in NBA and had a couple short stints on Thad's staff.

This, but also: would bet Matta will help with the AAU relationships as well, since that's something that Woodson has likely never developed. Matta can't recruit off campus but he can certainly talk to AAU coaches/HS coaches all he wants.
