Right. There are two factors at play: (1) Whether the initial incident disqualifies Beard (which has been debated at length in this thread), and (2) Whether the existence of the initial incident plus potential alcohol issues make him a bigger risk moving forward. That second factor is a huge part of this - not whether he’s guaranteed to have more issues but whether he’s more likely than other candidates.

That Twitter account is classic. People have been doing this with mlb and nba free agency for some time. You tweet a bunch of rumors as fact - some of them will hit, so you can say you have sources. Then you delete the tweets that were wrong. So when you do the same thing next year, people go back to your tweets and say “wow look what this Twitter account got right!” I definitely think there are random people out there who find things out and break news. But no one has sources everywhere.

IUBB Players in the Portal/Draft Exploratory Status

Absolutely. It’s the right move for him. -
IUBB Players in the Portal/Draft Exploratory Status

ESPN has him as the #72 prospect. I still think he’s in that late/borderline second round range. But we will see how he looks for NBA teams in workouts. -
IUBB Players in the Portal/Draft Exploratory Status

Yeah. That’s the question - does he want to start making more money by playing in Europe? -
Will be interesting to see how he does. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Cronin suddenly became a good offensive coach after he hired Lewis.

Well, sort of. One scenario has some limited objective evidence plus reporting. But maybe that evidence is taken out of context and the reporting is biased. The other scenario has …. complete guesses? But maybe those guesses are right. We clearly don’t know what Fife left, and I still wouldn’t rule it “he’s a good coach but a bad fit for reasons that aren’t anyone’s fault” as the most likely reason.

Dakich makes no effort at all to tell the truth. His whole shtick is to just say whatever he thinks will drive attention and use the “I’m just being honest” deflection to reject criticism and avoid explaining what can be inconsistent or illogical comments. It’s the same reason he likes to hang up on people and talk about the idiots calling in. He doesn’t want to engage because he knows he can’t. He’s not thoughtful, articulate, or even honest or sincere enough.

I mean, I think we can all make up whatever story we want and say “this could have happened so let’s assume it did.”

Right!!

Crazy they had to spend that much to get Lamont Paris. They were better off keeping Frank Martin, but message board fans think it has to potential to be a top 10 job in all of college basketball.

This is incredibly speculative.

Ball State Transfer C Payton Sparks to Indiana and back to Ball State
jimsorgi replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Based on who recruited him in HS and who is recruiting him now, at least some people clearly think he’s a different player than he was in HS. I have no idea if they’re right. -
Always felt like Dakich was very mediocre on games. He had his narratives and talking points he decided on prior to a game and just hammered them home regardless of how the game actually developed. But I recognize that a lot of people liked him on games, so I’m probably in the minority there.

If Archie contributed more to the field of 68 over the last few years, he’d still be at IU.

Then again, by far the most impactful questionable call of the night went against OSU.

(2023) - PG Jeremy Fears to Michigan State

I’m not sure Crean even watched him play. Also not sure if that’s better or worse. -
Miller Kopp to Indiana (Northwestern Transfer)
jimsorgi replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm just saying that the base expectation for a career 36% three point shooter should probably be 36%. If he gets better, awesome. -

jimsorgi replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sure. That falls under "potential explanations." And I'm optimistic that it's the case and like the addition... but it's certainly not a guarantee. -
Miller Kopp to Indiana (Northwestern Transfer)
jimsorgi replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He was shooting 45% on Jan. 23 and then shot 20% over the last ten games. Don't know why we would exclude bad games just because they happened late. Or we could exclude his hot early-season games against bad teams and say: he shot 21% in his 16 games in 2021. -
Miller Kopp to Indiana (Northwestern Transfer)
jimsorgi replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Obviously the big question with Kopp is: for a guy with a reputation as a great shooter, why did he shoot so poorly last year? Definitely potential explanations, and his FT % evidences his raw shooting ability. But this is a nice addition if you’re getting a 40% 3-point shooter and not a particularly good one if you’re getting a 31% shooter. -
He took an official visit to Michigan St. Don’t think Fife was the lead recruiter but may at least have some knowledge of him.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
jimsorgi replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Same. The fact the it was such a minor extension for Cronin makes me wonder if the details included more money for things outside of his salary. -

Regarding Lewis: Cronin signed an extension and got a pay raise, so have to wonder if that came with increased assistant coach salary pool as well. -

Only $20k in moving expenses is shockingly low.
