I agree it could be the case, but this team has been dealing with failure all season and knew they weren't making the NCAA. I find it weird that tonight of all nights, after everything that went on, that they voice their dealings of failure.

Thomas Bryant: "The pain deep I can feel it in my stomach... but thats the pain and the hunger... to feel success you gotta struggle. to get where I'm at i had to hustle.. thats why I'm humble." Rojo: "Forward Always" JBJ: "Never let success get to your head or failure get to your heart." Curtis Jones: "No rules, Anything Goes." Freddie McSwain: "How many times should I have to stress. I wonder why I'm not like the rest." These are the ones I follow, but I find it very weird they are all posting pictures with these interesting captions all within a couple hours of each other, with everything thats going on. I may be reading into stuff, but this just seems off to me.

Guys, I think Hickory Hoosier is spot on that there is internal turmoil going on that we do not know about. All the IU players I follow (which is like 7 players) have all put up instagram pictures within the past few hours with cryptic sayings as their captions. I am younger and know the majority of the rap lyrics they use as captions, but this is way different. I thought this seemed off even prior to seeing what Hickory Hoosier posted. I think its players and families vs staff and administration. I truly believe this rift has been growing over the season but yesterdays decision to move the game to GT was the straw that broke the camels back. Something is going on within the program and tomorrow we find out.

Although it would be terrible PR for IU basketball, I would love if the players came together and decided that they would not travel and play in the NIT team game tomorrow due to the idiotic decision made by glass and bball staff. If I'm a player on the team my mindset right now is, "If the administration and coaching staff quit on us, then why shouldn't we quit on them?"

When you constantly cover up and ignore small problems, they grow and manifest into huge issues. We have a huge problem on our hands and it's all on Glass. When you make up an BS excuse to not host a home game in fear of the backlash your head coach will face, then it's time to make a change.
-
I hate to say this but if Crean is retained, boycott anything that has to do with IU basketball until a change is made. This is the only way to force Glass's hand. The loudest voice we can make is not being present for anything. You can still support the program but do it from your family room watching them on tv. I hate that it has resorted to this.

Losing out on Donovan over small timing issues is much bigger than losing any recruit we have committed and its not even close. This is the year to make a move, the guys we have committed may be quality players, but they are REPLACEABLE. Donovan is not.

I'm sorry but having gone to school at UD within the past couple years this is the furthest thing from the truth. He is loved at Dayton by fans, administration, and students as much as if not more than Cal is loved at UK (and that's not an exaggeration). Archie constantly gets the max potential out of his players and demands them to play at a high level and knows how to play toward his teams strengths. If you get chance to watch them in the tournament I suggest you do. After Stevens and Donovan, Archie probably is my number one target. I truly believe he will be a better coach than his brother when given the opportunity.

I saw that 0708 said that Billy D was a no go but any specifics as to why he turned the job down?

30+ plus pages since I've been gone for a few hours. This tells me there was big news while I was gone.. anyone mind to catch me up? Lol

Not that we don't already know this but I heard a few days ago that the people who matter at IU have decided Crean is done after this season, however there are still people who back him within the program, so the likelihood of staying another year is possible but maybe not high. I guess all them agree that Crean is not the guy for the longer term. This tells me if Crean is back then they couldn't land the guy they wanted and if he isn't back then they got someone they think highly of. As far as Donovan, whether the info is true or not, lets not get blinded that IU is targeting other good coaches. Either Miller brother or Tony Bennett would be a huge upgrade over Crean.

I truly believe Crean is gone but here are my 2 cents: It was mentioned in a previous post that Stevens does not like Glass because when Glass reached out in the past the talks weren't serious. This could be exactly what is going on with Alford or Marshall or whom whoevers name might be linked to IU at the time. Just because a coach has been contacted does not mean the talks are serious. I think the fact that Billy D's agent is supposedly meeting with IU people today speaks volumes to me. If Glass brings back Crean after the way this season has gone, then he is really calling the bluff on all of us diehard IU fans out here that we won't support next years team. If he calls our bluff, then he better realize he is putting his job on the chopping block due to the lack of support that will be reciprocated.

If I'm Donovan (assuming he is in talks with Glass), I'm asking Glass to increase the budget I have to hire assistant coaches. I personally think college football is a little more ahead of the curve than college basketball when it comes to assistant coaching, as you see with these stacked assistant coaching staffs at your elite programs. Here is what I would target as my assistants: 1) Fife- Good young coach who could develop under Donovan (if he is hired) and IU boy 2) RESPECTED & GOOD AAU or High School coach in the state of Indiana- Would help in state recruiting and has personal connections with the AAU circuit (Some may not be a fan of this but Harabaugh did this at Michigan, Alford does it at UCLA, and I think it would be a great higher if the coach is both respected and good; can't be just anyone) 3) Former coach and/or IU player who has an NBA background- recruits today love to hear how you will get them to the NBA and who they have coached in the league plus they they be great at developing talent (ex: Randy Wittman / Mike Woodson) I realize a staff like this would be expensive, especially if a guy like Wittman or Woodson were on the staff, but you have to sell them the idea of teaming up and waking up the sleeping giant that is IU basketball (Find me a better college basketball staff). Sell them on the idea of putting egos aside and take over college basketball and working as a TEAM and all success is attributed to them as a whole. I know this may seem like a pipe dream, but you must dream big to accomplish big.

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

Wow, I never read the forum back then when the accident happened, but I'm curious to know who might have been driving the car that night if it wasn't Holt.

Time to rip off the bandaid and let Crean go. This is the year if any to make a change especially since Crean doesn't have a promising recruiting class coming in. My head coaches in the order I'd want them: Brad Stevens (maybe not likely but have to make the call) Billy D (would check every box as a coach we could have as IU fans, instant star power) Steve Alford (would recruit the shit out of the state) Archie Miller (Young and has had tournament success. Teams play extremely hard and physical and seems to be a good in-game coach) I think they land one of the 4. Guys I would NOT want Gregg Marshall (looks too much like Crean I'd have PTSD) Mark Few (what conference is Gonzaga in again?) Northwestern's coach Tony Bennett (good coach, much better than Crean, but something about him I can't get super excited about)
