General Coach Candidate News
jumpshot53 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So, is it okay to announce our new coach before Woodson's last day? I have no idea how that works when someone retires. Maybe the plane is carrying a Brad assistant, so might not know who the passenger could be. -

I don't think he'll stay with the team after announcing his "retirement". He's afraid of his players, the handshake line and Fish. I don't think he'll survive the humiliation of us knowing he really got canned. -

I did a little snooping on Facebook and noticed one of Woodson's crew has a family member that sounds a bit discouraged about Woody's abilities....lol. -

Sleepers Media is laughing so hard about Woodson's post Wisconsin comments, "we came with good intentions." I can't even be mad anymore, they are right, the comedy of our basketball program is entertaining, but I'm ready to stop laughing. -

Do you think Stevens would be okay with that? I'm not sure he would agree to that, if he's the one. -

I agree, the "we want Dusty" chants would probably make Dusty cringe. Not a good look. He's fully invested in his team right now, and showing up Woodson isn't a good look. I also doubt any coach, no matter who he will be, wants his name announced as our new coach while Woodson is still here if a retirement is announced. -

Brad coaching at IU isn't any stranger than Belicheck coaching football at NC. Actually I think Brad's deal makes more sense. What's the big pull for Bill at NC besides the money? -

Dan Dakich paints Bello as a major a$$. When Goode got into it with the Illini guy, Rice and Bello jumped in to help. Goode said something about Bello being just a great kid and said it was not Bello's character to be a bad guy. I'd have to watch the clip, but it was something along those lines. I also remember a picture of Bello carrying a smiling Cupps on his shoulder. Who knows what is true about the team. -

Have one of Teri Moren's assistant coaches babysit. The players know them, the women's assistant coaches have been around real basketball and success. -

It was smart to get Cig and the football team in so early. I'm sure that was to avoid the fans leaving or booing during their moment. -

Casual fans may feel that way, however, many rival friends are begging us to keep Woodson. Many national guys are roasting him in the media. -

I understand loyalty but, Isaiah is probably butt hurt from his coaching failures, so he's relating his embarrassment to what he thinks Woodson is feeling. -

The national outsiders are the most vocal critics of Woodson. At least from what I've seen on podcasts and articles. -

It wasn't the first time Randi (the gf) was involved in a slap and tickle drunk episode. Not defending either of them, but I doubt Beard will find another freak to be with after that life changing event. He's definitely one of the top coaches around. -

Woodson's culture wouldn't change no matter how he got his players. He can't coach good basketball. There are coaches doing just fine with putting their teams together. Woodson just can't coach winning basketball. -

The every coach deserves 4 years argument made sense when most recruits were coming from high school, or the players were transfers that had to sit a year before playing. That was fair to the coaches that had to wait for their players to arrive and develop. Now, in these times, players can come and go quickly. Instant teams can be assembled. Anyone with good eyes can tell in one or two years if a coach knows how to coach. Look at Woodson's results! My Gawd, do we have to discuss the flaws in his game planning? I disagree that every coach needs 4 years or more to show his stuff. I understand that injuries can ruin a good year, but even then, as long as the coach is putting good effort on the floor, he will be given more of a chance. Woodson is just a horrible coach. That's all I can say. -

I hope that when Dusty brings his team to Assembly Hall, we don't chant his name. He has his team doing so well, and I think he would be uncomfortable with that display. I don't know his personality, but he strikes me as someone who wouldn't enjoy that, and he would also have a hard time taking a job in conference after being in Michigan first. I could see someone like Pitino or Calipari or Bruce being okay with that, but not sure about Dusty. -

Well if Reneau doesn't return soon and we start losing, Woodson will treat that injury like he treated X's injury. "Man, we were going to be so good, but losing X (Reneau) was just too big to overcome. Not Mike Woodson's fault. Buy me some more players and stop bothering me." signed the King. -

The discussion about the dismal play of our Hoosiers is getting louder and louder, and it's not just coming from the crazed IU fans, it's coming from national voices. It is such an embarrassing situation given how much money we spent on this mess. Unless we make a remarkable turn around, there is no way Woodson comes back again. I know he has an ego, but at some point he has to know it's time to move on. The money people aren't going to keep rewarding him. Rich people didn't get rich by being stupid. They made one bad investment, I doubt they make another. I think the kindest. thing for his backers to do is get him out of this situation to save his reputation. He's old enough to just retire, so just go away. I was thinking how each year our players start out giving me hope and they gradually start looking so much worse over the course of time. How many other teams can say that? Merry Christmas! We entertained yesterday so today is a quiet rest after we finish picking up. Keep the faith, it's going to happen. -

I do find Cathy's posts entertaining. I do appreciate her habit of saying "I'll talk more later" as she continues to keep posting as people ask questions. Sorry, but I doubt that anyone with real close ties to Dolson would be wasting their time explaining to the commoners what our AD is thinking. Sorry Cathy, but you are entertaining. If the "stakeholders" don't know what's going on with our team, they must not have any social media, newspapers, podcasts, tv or radio. They must not leave their homes or talk to people. They obviously haven't watched good basketball to see how different they play from our team. I'm not sure I want to listen to anyone that would align themselves with people that clueless. But then, how dumb am I? I keep watching hoping for a miracle, or at least hoping to see a well played game. Sucks! -

He was a freshman thrown into a disjointed style of play. He has the good basketball IQ and he plays hard. I'm happy he is staying. I only see an up side with him. -
