  1. Only if Smith is generous. Mel ‘rubbin one out on zoom call with the sexual harassment educator’ mutha Tucker was fired for cause. Documented text message and zoom screen recorded ‘cause’. My guess is they gave him $1M to sign an NDA and go away quietly. Still, dipping solidly into those RocketMortgage earnings. Smith seemed like a decent enough guy, and a solid coach at Oregon State - where it’s not easy to win. He just inherited the mess that Tucker left. #it’sinthename
  2. You’ve got to appreciate Lane Kiffin for making the end of the Woody era drama seem like small potatoes! Key differences: 1) Kiffin won at Ole Miss at an unprecedented level for the school 2) Ole Miss would have done anything to keep him 3) At the end, Woody hated IU fans who saw the writing on the wall, and essentially expected success — and vice versa. His departure was far from graceful. Ole Miss fans might end up hating Lane for leaving, but not for coaching incompetence. Of course, the drama Kiffin has created at the end, quitting on a team going to the CFP, publicly dragging his decision out for weeks, etc. FAR outweighs Woody disappearing, failing to doing press obligations, and generally being bitter. Similarities: Both narcissistic drama queens who failed to appreciate the sacrifices made ($$$, emotional, personal commitments from players, etc.) by institutions and their fans to grace them with key position and multiples of generational wealth.
  3. Man, the kind of problem we’d love to have!
  4. How long until we are able to watch Dusty at Michigan and not be resentful of how the last 4 years have been woefully mismanaged?
  5. Circumstances change…just like Cig was re-upped based on performance, it’s time for Dolson to get on the horn and look to immediately renegotiate our weak deal w/triple stripe. We’ve always been treated like the red headed step child in basketball. IU football has been an afterthought for them. Penn State and Tennessee both get over 3x our annual funding. Kansas, Louisville, Nebraska, Miami, Arizona State all have better deals, worth $M’s more per year. We’re hot - use the leverage…or look elsewhere for the future.
  6. Looks exactly like he used to, but w/out any of the ‘good Troy’ side. Boo no longer key influence in recruiting, surprised he’s getting so much run here. Apparently very much likes the food in whatever country he’s playing at overseas.
  7. On the surface, seems a bit desperate. If we’re dipping toes in the mud, why not just go Will Wade - arguably top 20 X’s and O’s coaching, undisputedly top 5 for rolling in the dirt! Less risk on both counts. We suffer severely from day late, dollar short syndrome. Here’s to hoping Kenny immediately comes with some dudes who can play team ball and have character - and keep th pipelines open. Don’t know for certain, but my sense is that Kenny is commonly hired due to potential recruiting prowess rather than coaching acumen.
  8. And/or coaches hire assistants specifically because they know how they operate and who they are connected to…for better and worse.
  9. This is distressing. Other programs, even those with new personnel and complete rebuilds, seem to be way ahead in nailing down staff and player commits at this point in time. Hope not, but perhaps Devries OPUD’ed (over promised, under delivered) what his ‘package’ would be (who he could bring in player and staff wise). If Cig is the model…he seemed to have a lot more wrapped up early on…filled the offices and depth charts while Allen’s seat was still warm - and then over delivered. This program is desperate for immediate success. Giving Tucker $3M in addition to Pops salary seems kinda sus - I guess we’ve mismanaged sooo much administratively, what should stop us from mismanaging the budget. If nothing else, the Devreis will certainly walk away with generational wealth - here’s to hoping they earn it!
  10. We aren’t this, not sure we’ve ever been close, and not sure we ever can be. Could’ve got Pearl last year…sigh.
  11. Mike Woodson. 100% objective empirical data showed he should’ve been shown the door after greatly underperforming in year 3 and NEVER considered for a year 4… in particular when you had Pearl and May in the wings for the job!! It was 100% management malfeasance to bring him back. (mods maybe open that thread back up…I think many aren’t done venting about the 5h1t show we were forced to endure for another wasted year).
  12. They (Louisville) are a serious bball program that is willing to do whatever it takes to win…now! Past, current and future transgressions are simply a calculated cost of doing business. Just WIN baby and no one talks about the prostitutes, bags of money, bribery, other sex scandals and all the rest. They know this, so go all in. 6 month reboot and they on! Also, they’ve got the reboot process down to a science since they’ve had to execute so many times.
  13. Man, did Bubba do Dolly a solid by screwing over WVU! Imagine the meltdown if it: 1) it were Brownell…with his best team at Clemson, dropping to McNeese in the firsty 2) WVU sneaks in, and Devries drops a similar game in the first
  14. Let’s do the first one too? Have heard Dare-E-Uhn and Daren? ”Getting to know you…”
  15. 11th. Pretty similar actually…room for optimism!
  16. Not certain how “successful” one would define our athletic department over the past 20 years, albeit this past year in football as an exception. Especially true in our premier bball program. If you don’t think the folks responsible for forcing Woody in the first place, and in particular demanding a 4th year — and fully funding it…don’t feel some semblance of culpability for the failure…then it’s beyond reason. You’re correct, they’re not going to hard ball (threaten in you’re terms) them to cough up again…but they certainly could sweet talk them, and even say — thanks for your support, we haven’t been successful and here’s what we need to in order to be. To postulate that it was a done deal long ago and they were all in on it again…with…Devries, nonetheless isn’t true. The money was there, Devries wasn’t.
  17. We are NEBRASKA (football)! Go corn!!
  18. Not necessarily… Dolson very likely said…we did it your way last year, now look where it got us. I need a commitment to make things work and bring anyone in at this point - do I have your commitment ongoing?
  19. The Wink was code from insiders and big donors, posted on here, that ‘we got our guy’…just everyone had been directed to not talk, so they winked when asked about coach hiring status. It blew up on here part serious, but mostly farce.
  20. That’s what we’re about to find out! Just seems a bit high risk…to point to excuses and say what might have been if they had…
  21. Oh joy! Let’s go ‘all in’ on projected success and should’ve done …absent a couple of excuses.
  22. Hey, cmon with the pessimism! Their barely miss was slightly closer than ours.
  23. Same year end results. They just got slightly more screwed over by Bubba and Co. than us.
  24. More pack line!! Can’t wait. And, we get another round of head assistant Ostrom - man that dude was an offensive juggernaut - feared throughout. Maybe they’ll keep Kenya again and make it full circle! Let’s keep Armond Hill too - the godfather of rest and recovery!! Let’s run it back AGAIN boyz!! Oh yeah!! With our resources, we’ll def be right back in those play in games…once he gets a couple of years to bring in his own guys and the kids learn to adjust to that super confusing pack line and slow pace.
