Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
HoosierMatty replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly . I am cautiously optimistic. I now the two posters Chris and 0708 to be reliable and are not people who would purposely mislead. Anything can happen but I feel good that both parties have communicated and there is interest. -
Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

So just to catch up, Brad accepted and right now it's just a matter of IU and Boston working out a buyout agreement. And Ainge will likely be a tough negotiator ? -

So to make sure I understand this correctly reliable sources are saying a sit-down with Dolson and Stevens is happening? Also Isiah Thomas will be there ? -

I don't see why Brad has to finish the season if he wants the job. Is there a financial penalty? -

Yes I think that's right. I just thought it would be odd to keep two assistants and a strength coach unless he was expecting an extended wait. -

I had wondered if this had been the case when Crean was fired. It would make sense. -

A couple things I picked up on that makes me think the Stevens rumors have legs. One thing that sticks out is the fact Dolson is keeping the assistant staff around. It sounds like he intends for this decision and hiring to take some time. So that in my mind leans against the idea of Beilein or Matta being the first choice. It sounds like its going to be someone whose going to be employed awhile. Also I think Dolson's comments on moving IU into the future makes me think of Brad. -
I agree. And to fair I'm not a dump Archie now guy. I believe one more year is fair. Most of my anger is toward those above. So changing to someone else doesn't make me excited because of those in charge. I also believe even if Archie can get it done the negativity doesn't help him either in terms of recruiting going forward. It makes it even harder for him now.

That's sad that few know and those who do who may have power to change it do nothing about it. There needs to be a complete clean house. My issue ultimately is not whether Archie is the right coach or not. It's the sad reality that if he isn't and has to go we will still be terrible because of the incompetence at the top. And it will continue on and on unless it's changed .

Revenue directly coming in from that specific program should be spent on that program. That being said I don't mind them drawing money from a general fund to go to any program that needs it. But a donation and it's intention behind it should be honored. How much blowback have they received from alumini? It's inconceivable to me that the AD, trustees or President haven't been pushed out. If I had Mark Cuban money I would make it my personal crusade to run these incompetent people out.

So why is that the athletic department has no money and has to borrow? I understand that McRobbie has taken money and keeps us on tight purse strings. But even if that were to change would money still be an issue? Ultimately I don't understand why the president should dictate how the athletic department spends their money. They generate their own revenue.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
HoosierMatty replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Lol. Well there are some UK fans who are alright and actually understand basketball. They typically finished high school and have a college degree. They are rare but they exist. Let's just say probably less than 1 percent of their total fanbase. -

I wouldn't read too much into this. Ofcourse they are going to say nice things about UK when asked questions about them from a Kentucky reporter. What's clear is they are having to work at it because he likes IU. I expect UK to be on his final list and to consider them. I will be extra happy if he picks IU since it will upset these idiot cat fans. I cannot stand their arrogance matched only by their unbelievable ignorance. For anyone whose never met a cat fan just picture talking to the biggest moron you've ever met whose always talking down to you in a condescending way. The few nice intelligent cats you meet are very much aware of how terrible their fan base is. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I've always despised Rick Pitino. He's a selfish sleazeball. Everything is always about him and never takes responsibility for his own actions. It's always someone else's fault. But dragging a kids name and their family through the mud is a new low. He's knows they did nothing wrong. -

https://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/college/louisville/2018/05/16/rick-pitino-washington-post-records-innocence-romeo-langford/616933002/ I find this article revealing . If Pitino feels the way the system is run is unethical I agree. The way AAU sponsorship works isn't against the rules, but certainly unethical. But why point out Romeo if in the same article he says his family is honest and didn't want to break any rules. He said they did nothing wrong. The rules as the stand are certainly up for dispute. But he had no reason to bring up Romeo other than sour grapes. Unless he has proof something illegal happened. If he wants to talk about the system then he doesn't need to call out any player for using it for how it exist. -

When I was the announcement yesterday I was sitting in the same area as the Vandy fan who was booed. I thought it was funny because he said that's ok our recruiting class is still ranked higher. Well not any more. Theirs is 12 or 11th now without Romeo. Lol ours is 7th. These people are delusional. -

I agree. And people made fun of it. I saw Cat fans with shirts mocking it. Saying how they never went anywhere. We didn't either. We just had moronic presidents and athletic directors. -
