Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Probably after. But for all we know something was already negotiated with Boston or he might be coming later. Maybe next weekend :) -

If it's Stevens and it's happening tomorrow you would think we might hear something by tonight from the Boston side of things. There is no way he leaves without telling them and working out how to end his contract. -

Hey Chris is tomorrow's announcement something you have heard from your sources or an educated guess ? Do you think Brad is maybe still waiting to figure out when he wants to leave ? -

Doesn't matter the coaches resume. If he's a former IU player some of our fans will do the mental gymnastics necessary to justify it. Does it bring added value to be a former player ? Sure it definitely is a plus but you got to have the coaching chops and record to back it up. If I could get anyone else who has a much better resume why would I settle for the guy with a dumpster fire record just because he played here. -

I feel like last coaching hire we had Bennett chatter then we swung back to Donovan again then we had our wtf moment when Archie was announced. Honestly it's hard to take any rumors seriously at this point. For the record I would definitely take Bennett. I would be shocked if it happened. -

Yeah and Cal's is like a lifetime contract. He needs to lower that to a 20 million I would say. Especially for just a 7 year. -

At this point I don't want to feel too strongly one way or the other. If they can negotiate something great. If not I would be fine with Beard and I believe he would take it. Hell I would take Beilein with Fife on his staff. I just want a good coach and someone who truly wants to be here. -

I would have preferred he told us to F off when we first put out feelers. Assuming all this was true. I much prefer that to being jerked around. If you set demands and we meet them and had donors put up big time money and you say no and get a raise from the Celtics there is a word for Brad. Its not Masshole but it ryhmes with it. -

Is it confirmed he had the players meeting and resigned? -

I don't really understand why everyone acts like this is over because no announcement today. No one but one less reliable source said it would. In fact the Ohio State guy said look for April 2nd. This isn't over until it's over or at least not in until we start hearing reliable intel that it is. -

The fact there is so much specific detail compared to the Donovan situation makes me feel this is the real deal. -

Exactly . I am cautiously optimistic. I now the two posters Chris and 0708 to be reliable and are not people who would purposely mislead. Anything can happen but I feel good that both parties have communicated and there is interest. -

So just to catch up, Brad accepted and right now it's just a matter of IU and Boston working out a buyout agreement. And Ainge will likely be a tough negotiator ? -

So to make sure I understand this correctly reliable sources are saying a sit-down with Dolson and Stevens is happening? Also Isiah Thomas will be there ? -

I don't see why Brad has to finish the season if he wants the job. Is there a financial penalty? -

Yes I think that's right. I just thought it would be odd to keep two assistants and a strength coach unless he was expecting an extended wait. -

I had wondered if this had been the case when Crean was fired. It would make sense. -

A couple things I picked up on that makes me think the Stevens rumors have legs. One thing that sticks out is the fact Dolson is keeping the assistant staff around. It sounds like he intends for this decision and hiring to take some time. So that in my mind leans against the idea of Beilein or Matta being the first choice. It sounds like its going to be someone whose going to be employed awhile. Also I think Dolson's comments on moving IU into the future makes me think of Brad. -
I agree. And to fair I'm not a dump Archie now guy. I believe one more year is fair. Most of my anger is toward those above. So changing to someone else doesn't make me excited because of those in charge. I also believe even if Archie can get it done the negativity doesn't help him either in terms of recruiting going forward. It makes it even harder for him now.

That's sad that few know and those who do who may have power to change it do nothing about it. There needs to be a complete clean house. My issue ultimately is not whether Archie is the right coach or not. It's the sad reality that if he isn't and has to go we will still be terrible because of the incompetence at the top. And it will continue on and on unless it's changed .

Revenue directly coming in from that specific program should be spent on that program. That being said I don't mind them drawing money from a general fund to go to any program that needs it. But a donation and it's intention behind it should be honored. How much blowback have they received from alumini? It's inconceivable to me that the AD, trustees or President haven't been pushed out. If I had Mark Cuban money I would make it my personal crusade to run these incompetent people out.
-
So why is that the athletic department has no money and has to borrow? I understand that McRobbie has taken money and keeps us on tight purse strings. But even if that were to change would money still be an issue? Ultimately I don't understand why the president should dictate how the athletic department spends their money. They generate their own revenue.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
HoosierMatty replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Lol. Well there are some UK fans who are alright and actually understand basketball. They typically finished high school and have a college degree. They are rare but they exist. Let's just say probably less than 1 percent of their total fanbase. -

I wouldn't read too much into this. Ofcourse they are going to say nice things about UK when asked questions about them from a Kentucky reporter. What's clear is they are having to work at it because he likes IU. I expect UK to be on his final list and to consider them. I will be extra happy if he picks IU since it will upset these idiot cat fans. I cannot stand their arrogance matched only by their unbelievable ignorance. For anyone whose never met a cat fan just picture talking to the biggest moron you've ever met whose always talking down to you in a condescending way. The few nice intelligent cats you meet are very much aware of how terrible their fan base is.
