Yes and that's why I mentioned those four programs (minus Louisville) are blue bloods that are good year in and year out because of coaching stability. If IU hires the right coach, they will be great once again
-
IU isn't elite by any means. This is very true and has been for a while. But IU is absolutely still relevant. People still keep tabs on IU
-
I would still classify them as well
-
I'm starting from the 21st century, so 2000. The last seven years of RMK weren't great but IU was still a highly thought of program. A blue blood is who makes the sport better. IU still makes the sport better when they're good. It's the same with Duke, UNC, Kansas and UK. Those are the five blue blood programs. A great coach can change a lot of things. IU gets Stevens, Donovan, Archie Miller, Chris Holtman, etc., IU will be good year in and year out once again. Preferably with Stevens because he is the best coach on IUs list and would instantly change the vibe and culture around Bloomington and the program in general. But to your first point, I would say IU hasn't been great for 17 years

IU is absolutely still a blue blood program but hasn't had the right coach to have continued success and stability since RMK. Duke, UNC, Kansas and UK are the programs that are good year in and year out and that's because they've had stability with the HC. Roy Williams, Bill Self, Coach K and John Calipari. UK actually went trough a stretch there for a while with Tubby and Billy that set them back for some years. Their administration knew those two weren't good enough and cut bait. But it was definitely more with Billy then Tubby. Sampson would have been but we all know why he wasn't. The next hire has to be a hit. Otherwise, IU will become just another program

Yogi Ferrell - Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (Montonegro)
Hoosier Guy replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
Yogi kicking some can and Cleveland is gonna lose. That's just a win-win. Screw you LeBron -
Yeah that was pretty bad

Quit lion around and play some D -
I think he's good at broadcasting but radio talk he just gets unbearable most the time
-
Nope. Not sure if you meant to do that though lol
-
Duke-ND should be a good one. A big game for both teams. Duke to build on their last game and ND to not start a skid after their last game
-
You pointed offense and defense the same way lol. No wonder they don't do anything when the opponent has the ball
-
The flash card thing last night was so embarrassing. If a guy on the sideline has to hold up a card that says "Call out screens", your team isn't very good. But since the staff doesn't teach defense, I guess card communication is the next best thing. This crap needs to change
-
3 PT shooting isn't gonna be there every game though. Fundamentals can be and that's my biggest gripe. Crean's teams don't know simple basics. A team can win basketball games with basics. And yep there's no in between. It's either really good or really bad
-
He does give great passion every game. That can't be denied. Yeah Victor has to hit those open looks that Westbrook gives him. Otherwise, that team has no chance (though I think that's the case anyway). I was rooting like hell for OKC yesterday. I'll root for anyone over LeBron
-
Good point. There is literally no one thing that IU does extremely well
-
I absolutely can't stand excuse making. Coaches who use excuses any chance they get aren't good coaches. That's why Chris Mack is what he is. And that is a great head coach. It definitely shows in his program year in and year out. Same with other great coaches. They work with what they have and generate success. It always has to be literally picture perfect for Crean for him to succeed in any given season. And like you said, this team still has talent on the floor even with all the injuries. I'm getting tired of it and it better end soon
-
The one and only time lol. But yeah Crean should have had them ready. How a team plays is a reflection of the coaching staff. The players didn't care because Tom didn't care to prepare them enough for that game

IU actually has a winning record against Penn State under Crean. 9-7 including the conference tournament. Of course, most of those wins were the two years with Cody Zeller -
Yeah "we think" is the key phrase. Is that what Fred thinks though? It better be or we as a whole might implode
-
Correct. It's either an injury, illness, not waking up on the right side of the bed, my dog died, didn't get my drink or whatever the hell I call it in my bottle, etc.. There is nothing I hate more than excuse making. And we have a coach that uses them any chance he gets. Gets old real fast
-
I think he takes opiates
-
HTD has a screw loose lol. That guy would literally jump off a bridge for Tom Crean. Frankly, they can both jump for all I care
-
Injury excuse better not play out. This team sucked way before all these guys started getting injured. But I have a bad feeling that Glass will use it as an excuse. If he does, the fan base might implode
-
I do because he takes too many shots (he should never take a three point attempt), whines and complains when he doesn't get a foul called for him (even though he leads the league in FT attempts), doesn't show respect to most players and just isn't a guy that most players want to team with on a daily basis. He is a good player but it's very apparent that he was holding back Kevin Durant. Kevin and Russell never liked playing with one another because it was too much "your turn, my turn" stuff. And that was usually because of Westbrook. I understand Durant should have been more assertive but the point still stands
