Game Thread: vs. Eastern Michigan 11/9 - 6 pm - BTN
ap2345 replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They won. That's what really matters. From a coaching standpoint t's better to win close against a bad team and find things to work on than lose or have a blowout. The biggest thing I see right now is that guys haven't figured out their roles and how to play together. That only comes from game play plus Woody has them playing a different style and theirs several new guys. It will take time but you don't want them to peak to early and fizzle out down the stretch which happens. The best thing to do is just watch and see what adjustments and progress is made over the next few weeks leading into B1G play. -

For some reason I’m not surprised by this. Glad he’s getting to a game this early. -
Is it time for CTA to make changes on the Strength/conditioning staff

You have to have someone internal to finish the season. He's not going to hire a permanent replacement during the season. -

Why would you promote a coach that you aren't keeping? That makes zero sense and the ones you are keeping you don't want to risk upsetting them. There is zero reason to make a change right now unless there is an internal candidate that CTA likes which I'd say isn't the case. Changes are going to be made but now isn't the best time. Especially with signing day on the horizon. Don't give a recruit anymore reasons to question signing with IU. -
It was likely just for a segment of practice. I'm sure they are both getting reps with the other starters but Johnson is going to start from what I've heard baring a last minute change.

Sure but maybe CTA doesn't want to put them in that spot and risk losing them because he has no plans to make them the permanent OC. There's a lot of things that go into head coaches decisions and the reality is making a change isn't likely to make much of a difference. You also don't want to make firings right before signing day either. Florida did because Mullen is scared he might get canned. CTA isn't in that spot. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

All the IU boards have been slow this weekend with people checking out on football and no recruiting news. That'll change this week with the season getting started. There will be plenty of hoops to talk about. -

That's not exactly the case. There are plenty of times that position coaches are great position coaches but don't want to be OC's or aren't qualified to be an OC. Same with position coaches. Some assistant position coaches might be great at doing that and doing background stuff but not heading up the position. So your statement is the right thought in a vacuum but possibly not the case. -

The problem is you've got to still have people do those jobs. A school like Florida likely has enough staffers to fill those spots for the rest of the season. IU probably doesn't or at least ones that CTA feels can be an improvement. -

No. I believe he’s planning on visiting in the spring -

The cause of all the injuries is probably a combination of over training as a child and during high school, turf, genetics, bad luck, and several other factors. There are typically multiple factors but people love to point fingers because they don’t know any better. -
I would love to ask Carlisle his reasoning for that. I can’t figure that one out

It’s hard to say what the problem is. Seems to be a lot of places colleges and professional teams that are having injuries this year and everyone wants to point at the strength and conditioning coaches. I’d venture to say it’s something else causing the problems. -
IU has offered 2022 DL Jayson Jenkins from New Jersey. He is listed at 6'6 250. https://247sports.com/player/jayson-jenkins-46127855/

(2022) - PF Noah Clowney to Alabama
ap2345 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
At the time the first Bama visit was scheduled they were confident that they were getting Walker and he was their top target. By the tie the second scheduled visit took place they realized they weren't getting Walker so by the time he visited and went all in on Clowney and blew him away. The staff and players thought they were getting Clowney and it didn't happen. With out of state guys most "inside info" comes from the IU side and not the recruit side. In state guys it can sometimes come from both. Anyone that gets frustrated by fans getting excited when "inside info" is shared they probably should avoid message boards. Recruiting is always fluid and can change from hour to hour or day to day regardless of what info is out there. -
IU has wanted multiple DL in this class all along. The number of offers isn't a surprise
-
The pass rush looks better at times but I'm starting to think it's biggest issue is the terrible coverage and scheme in the secondary not giving them time to get to the QB. The secondary is also not getting any better this year so that'll be an offseason thing to fix. The only thing that could change is the scheme and that's not happening.

They said he was weeks away instead of months away. It's possible now he's back sometime in December.
-
This would be correct. The University had it taken down. Same reason Dolson walked over told the Hysterics to shut down their live stream of the game.
-
They aren't even close to being the same team they were a week and a half ago that they are now. Brogdon and LeVert make a huge difference along with Duarte. The question will be is if they can stay healthy.

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to O$U via Indiana
ap2345 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Multiple people have said this. I’ve heard it from people. Rabby has hinted at it. It’s pretty well known but that doesn’t mean he won’t try and compete to be. He’s just more likely to really contribute in years 3 and 4 -

Cupps knows he’s not a day 1 guy but that also doesn’t mean he’s not going to try and prove people wrong. Shoot IU’s staff would love to still land Cupps and Little. He’s going to have to most likely have to compete anywhere he goes but that’s a good thing imo. -

Ohio State just got a committment from George Washington III. He´s a CG that is ranked in the top 70. He is listed at 6´2 so he´s on the shorter side of height for a CG. -
Next week is one of the best weeks of the year. Boys high school basketball practice officially starts here in Indiana on Monday and then college basketball is back on Tuesday.
