(2024) QB Tyler Cherry TO INDIANA
ap2345 replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Indiana has reached out to gauge the situation -
Bostad is being kept
-
Possibly but they’ve been giving out a lot of waivers for coaching changes the last years or so.
-
One of the 247 recruiting analysts said it too
-
It doesn’t matter because there’s a zero percent chance he’d be able to stay until the bowl game. To much recruiting and other things would need to take place at IU.
-
I get your point but there’s plenty of successful coaches that were never play callers. Here’s a few. College Coaches Urban Meyer Jim Harbaugh Jim Tressel Dabo Swinney Pat Fitzgerald PJ Fleck Kirk Ferentz NFL Coaches Zac Taylor Nick Sirianni
-
There’s guys all over football in college and the NFL that are OC’s in name alone. There’s a lot more to being an OC than calling plays on game day.
-
Except for the fact that Frye has been an OC at UCLA and is the associate head coach at OSU
-
My bad got my days mixed up. I still stand by that comment though. I don’t see them introducing Candle or Hart and then they go coach a game on Saturday which they would do.
-
I heard that Osterman said IU plans on having the new head coach at the IU and Maryland game Saturday. That tells me it’ll be Frye or Chryst if that is true.
-
The reality is that the IU job isn’t sought after. So you aren’t going to get anyone that thinks they can wait and maybe get a better job soon. That leaves you with first timers or retreads nobody wants. That doesn’t mean it’s Dolson’s fault. It’s just that IU football has had 20 plus years of being a joke of a program. The reality is the next hire just needs to find ways to consistently get to bowl games and get IU set up for better expectations moving forward.
-
Unless you are in the meetings and interviews you have no clue.

It seems as though Tayven thinks it’s going to be Gruden or he at least wants it to be
-
He’s not being talked about because of low expectations. He’s actually a highly thought of young coach in college football.
-
Lewis would be a pretty good HC imo. The Kent State record doesn’t define him as a coach. Kent State is the worst job in the MAC. He was doing a pretty good job at Colorado but Sanders panicked after a bad week or two and demoted him when their roster just wasn’t good and now they’re losing commits because he isn’t staying at Colorado.
-
He did say that they aren’t doing interviews so more names will likely pop up today or tomorrow.
-
It sounds like Carey is getting an opportunity to state his case but likely won’t get the job.
-
It also sounds like Mike Hart is in the mix
-
It sounds like Carey, Frye, Candle, Chryst, Lewis, and Silverfield have gotten or scheduled interviews so far.
-
Whitten wasn’t president and McRobbie didn’t care about athletics
-
That’s what it is. Also there’s always more than just the AD that have to sign off on any hire before it’s official. This happens at all levels of athletics.
-
It was stuff that happened when he was at OSU.
-
He’s a good offensive mind which IU needs in their next HC imo.
-
That’s a fact. That would be interesting but not likely
