Game Thread: vs. Eastern Michigan 11/9 - 6 pm - BTN

The team you have today isn't the team you had yesterday and isn't the team you'll have tomorrow. Teams change from day to day. So overreactions are pointless especially after 1 game. -

Coaching is coaching. If you can coach in the NBA you can coach in college from an X's and O's standpoint. Typically from a player development standpoint as well. What gets most guys that make that jump is the day to day recruiting and that hasn't been a problem so far. -

His feet were a little wide. Some guys do that. I care more about the rotation and release. If that's good than a kid has a chance to be a decent shooter or better. -

The problem with that is if they are a good shooter in high school or aau or whatever then in many cases the high school coaches are afraid they might mess things up so they choose not to mess with it. Sometimes making a kid have better form doesn't actually make them a better shooter. If a kid has bad form and can't shoot then you should be working to improve that form in high school and definitely before the kid gets to college. -

I never said from jump but the fact that he holds the record for 9 in a game at LN is impressive with all the talent that Keefer has had there. Yes, I know a single game all it takes is to get hot but that tells me that the potential is there to work with. -

Yeah you might be right but I know a university that just moved theirs back on their court before the start of the season so I'm not sure why they would've done that then. -

Nope. They moved it back for a 2nd time entering this season. -

Woody is more focused on defense right now and that's why Galloway is in the rotation. Lander and Leal are going to get opportunities to show they should get minutes as well. They just have to capitalize on those and not crap the bed. That 9 man rotation is likely to change several times throughout the season. -

It's also likely an affect from them moving the 3 point line back as well. It will take some games for players to get adjusted to shooting from that distance in game. -

CJ Gunn has officially signed his NLI with Indiana. He is the first 2022 commit to make it official. -

They won. That's what really matters. From a coaching standpoint t's better to win close against a bad team and find things to work on than lose or have a blowout. The biggest thing I see right now is that guys haven't figured out their roles and how to play together. That only comes from game play plus Woody has them playing a different style and theirs several new guys. It will take time but you don't want them to peak to early and fizzle out down the stretch which happens. The best thing to do is just watch and see what adjustments and progress is made over the next few weeks leading into B1G play. -

For some reason I’m not surprised by this. Glad he’s getting to a game this early. -
Is it time for CTA to make changes on the Strength/conditioning staff

You have to have someone internal to finish the season. He's not going to hire a permanent replacement during the season. -

ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Why would you promote a coach that you aren't keeping? That makes zero sense and the ones you are keeping you don't want to risk upsetting them. There is zero reason to make a change right now unless there is an internal candidate that CTA likes which I'd say isn't the case. Changes are going to be made but now isn't the best time. Especially with signing day on the horizon. Don't give a recruit anymore reasons to question signing with IU. -
It was likely just for a segment of practice. I'm sure they are both getting reps with the other starters but Johnson is going to start from what I've heard baring a last minute change.

ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Sure but maybe CTA doesn't want to put them in that spot and risk losing them because he has no plans to make them the permanent OC. There's a lot of things that go into head coaches decisions and the reality is making a change isn't likely to make much of a difference. You also don't want to make firings right before signing day either. Florida did because Mullen is scared he might get canned. CTA isn't in that spot. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
All the IU boards have been slow this weekend with people checking out on football and no recruiting news. That'll change this week with the season getting started. There will be plenty of hoops to talk about. -
Is it time for CTA to make changes on the Strength/conditioning staff
ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
That's not exactly the case. There are plenty of times that position coaches are great position coaches but don't want to be OC's or aren't qualified to be an OC. Same with position coaches. Some assistant position coaches might be great at doing that and doing background stuff but not heading up the position. So your statement is the right thought in a vacuum but possibly not the case. -

ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
The problem is you've got to still have people do those jobs. A school like Florida likely has enough staffers to fill those spots for the rest of the season. IU probably doesn't or at least ones that CTA feels can be an improvement. -

The cause of all the injuries is probably a combination of over training as a child and during high school, turf, genetics, bad luck, and several other factors. There are typically multiple factors but people love to point fingers because they don’t know any better.
