Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
ap2345 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm guessing CAM will wait and see what is decided upon by JBJ, TB, and ROJO. If they decide to return then CAM will have a sit down with the 2 guys he feels will be the most likely to see little playing time and he will pull their scholarship. If we want to be a contender things like this happen from time to time. Just ask K at Duke. Also I'm sure CAM has been using these workouts to evaluate who will play and who will not. Just my 2 cents. -
Crean was interested in Austin but Austin didn't like Crean. I do believe that he liked IU however. I also know that at one point Austin really liked Michigan and Coach Beilein.
-
Exactly he looked great in that game. Muncie Central wasn't that great either especially defensively. Not saying he isn't good but that's 1 game not to mention he is known as being a chucker that isn't willing to play off the ball. He has left teams in the past if he wasn't the point guard.

Poole is a sniper I wouldn't be saying that.
-
How do you know that IU is passing him up. Maybe they want to see what he does this summer. Possibly they have other recruits in front of him on their board. Maybe he doesn't fit the system. Maybe Archie doesn't want to deal with the headaches he brings with him. There could be any number of reasons why Archie hasn't reached out and your statements are uncalled for. So take the race card and take a hike.

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
ap2345 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know it's not the most reliable source but he also has an article up on his website. -
Austin went to Southside because he liked to coach entering his Freshman year aka he told him he would start and his dad was made an assistant as well. I watched a few games and South had like 10 assistant coaches on the varsity bench and only like 8 or 9 players dressed for the games.
-
So my question is why did Austin go to South Side in the first place? None of you have to answer because I know for a fact what the answer is. Also I hope Archie doesn't go down this road. Austin is a good kid but his parents will probably want him to transfer if he isn't the PG his freshman year.

Archie Miller's staff at Indiana will be Bruiser Flint, Tom Ostrom (Dayton) and Ed Schilling (UCLA),

No. Elston will remain in the same position he had last year as director of player development. Comar is the director of basketball operations. -

So right now we have Durham and Smith coming in and OG is gone for sure and it's looking like JBJ will be gone like Troy was last year. -
(2017) PG McKinley Wright to Colorado

I only pay attention a few hours before the announcement because that's when the information has a tendency to get leaked out and everyone tries to jump on board. -

Exactly. I wouldn't mind seeing Musa Jallow added in with those 3 as well. -

Nope I'd rather have Garland or Phinisee or both. -

This isn't happening unless we have a mass exodus that is unexpected or CAM is a less organized recruiter that Crean. I'm going with this is fake news that people are just trying to connect him to Archie and these people haven't even looked at the scholarship situation. -

I found this in Ed Schilling's UCLA bio and thought that it could definitely be beneficial in recruiting Romeo and other high profile adidas kids. "Since 2007, Schilling has served as head coach for Adidas Nations, coaching and training the Adidas High School All-American Team in national and international competition". -

Sorry about that then. I just remembered Dakich talking about how Kyle learned from the best because Ed didn't get caught. So that's were that came from fwiw. -

I'm assuming it was Schilling and Alford because they are the only 2 mid west guys on the staff. -

My thoughts exactly. Something tells me she probably wants to be closer to home as well being from Indy. -

Schiling did the same thing as Kyle he just married his girl once she graduated. That being said I do think he is a good coach that increases our chances with Romeo. -

I think Cujo would be one heck of a sixth man as well. Comes off the bench and lights it up. -

Elston is already on staff and I'm starting to doubt we get another IU guy unless Archie has offered a pay raise and an associate head coach title to either Lewis or Fife and they are trying to decide whether or not to accept the offer. Truthfully I think Archie wanted Groce and now he is trying to find the best fit possible in his opinion to fill out the staff. -
