Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
ap2345 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah about that. No Thanks! Let's let Priller stay on the bench and be the 20 point guy or if we get 2 or 3 guys in foul trouble. I couldn't even imagine Priller trying to hold his ground against Haas. -

I think we should try and find a grad transfer post player so that way we have at least some size to back up Davis because that is the one area I think the roster is lacking imo. -

Per Rabby Grant Gelon has been granted his release by Indiana. -

Crean never showed any interest. -
Just saying that his 2017 class is loaded with talent mostly from Indiana. Not to mention he already has some pretty strong commits in the 18 and 19 classes as well.

According to Rabjohns Indiana has started talking to Brandon Johns a 4 star forward from Michigan. I guess IU is really wanting to get him on campus for an unofficial visit.

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati

This is correct. The Garland's lived in Gary until 2012 when they moved to Brentwood. The kid is a hoosier. -

I'm assuming that Archie is going to be following the Adidas circuit because he said he would be at every one of Romeo's games this summer. This will also allow him to be at all of Phinisee's as well. I think next week however both UA and Nike are in Indiana at Fishers and Westfield so I'm sure most of the staff will be moving between the 2 spots. That will be a good chance for Archie to check out Garland, Brooks, Watford and others. -

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers

True but if you go to a D1, D2, D3, or NAIA you have to be 3 years removed which is what I was trying to get at with the comparison to basketball. -

It's not so much that they have to stay in school but are 3 years removed from high school. In football you can't go to the NFL until you are 3 years removed and in baseball if you aren't drafted or don't sign out of high school then you have to be 3 years removed from high school before you can be drafted again. I think basketball could implement a rule similar to baseball that could be very beneficial. So I would say the best case would be if a kid is guaranteed to go in the 1st. round they should be allowed to be drafted out of high school. If not then they should be 3 years removed from high school before they can be drafted. The reason I said 3 years instead of 2 was so that basketball would have the same requirements as baseball and football. -

Maybe unless TH wants to spend a weekend in L.A. on behalf of the agency flying him out there. -

I'm guessing CAM will wait and see what is decided upon by JBJ, TB, and ROJO. If they decide to return then CAM will have a sit down with the 2 guys he feels will be the most likely to see little playing time and he will pull their scholarship. If we want to be a contender things like this happen from time to time. Just ask K at Duke. Also I'm sure CAM has been using these workouts to evaluate who will play and who will not. Just my 2 cents. -
Crean was interested in Austin but Austin didn't like Crean. I do believe that he liked IU however. I also know that at one point Austin really liked Michigan and Coach Beilein.
-
Exactly he looked great in that game. Muncie Central wasn't that great either especially defensively. Not saying he isn't good but that's 1 game not to mention he is known as being a chucker that isn't willing to play off the ball. He has left teams in the past if he wasn't the point guard.
-
Poole is a sniper I wouldn't be saying that.
-
How do you know that IU is passing him up. Maybe they want to see what he does this summer. Possibly they have other recruits in front of him on their board. Maybe he doesn't fit the system. Maybe Archie doesn't want to deal with the headaches he brings with him. There could be any number of reasons why Archie hasn't reached out and your statements are uncalled for. So take the race card and take a hike.

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
ap2345 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know it's not the most reliable source but he also has an article up on his website. -
Austin went to Southside because he liked to coach entering his Freshman year aka he told him he would start and his dad was made an assistant as well. I watched a few games and South had like 10 assistant coaches on the varsity bench and only like 8 or 9 players dressed for the games.
-
So my question is why did Austin go to South Side in the first place? None of you have to answer because I know for a fact what the answer is. Also I hope Archie doesn't go down this road. Austin is a good kid but his parents will probably want him to transfer if he isn't the PG his freshman year.

Archie Miller's staff at Indiana will be Bruiser Flint, Tom Ostrom (Dayton) and Ed Schilling (UCLA),

No. Elston will remain in the same position he had last year as director of player development. Comar is the director of basketball operations. -

So right now we have Durham and Smith coming in and OG is gone for sure and it's looking like JBJ will be gone like Troy was last year. -

I only pay attention a few hours before the announcement because that's when the information has a tendency to get leaked out and everyone tries to jump on board. -

Nope I'd rather have Garland or Phinisee or both.
