You aren’t wrong. I think IU should try to utilize the types of things that the colts have done this year. Here is why. They have to utilize short passes because they don’t have a great O-line until proven other wise. They do need to run the football with their group of running backs, and they need to throw the ball down field to open that up. So I guess they need to be better at taking what the opposition is giving them but for that to happen the OC needs to be flexible and the QB needs to be able to make all the throws and not just 5-15 yard throws. That happens with UK and KU almost every year. The reality is sometimes guys aren’t as good as their ranking coming out of high school which is mostly based on upside anyway. So it shouldn’t impact recruiting that much imo as long as IU is winning. Plus it’s not like CAM isn’t playing Romeo like Roy Williams was handling Little at UNC. The three biggest issues that I think NBA teams will have with Romeo in no specific order are his shooting issues both from 3pt and the FT line, his defense, and his ball handling which is kind of loose at times and could be a problem at the next level. That is why I would like to see Morton and Leal in this class. I think Morton will be a solid shooter while I think Leal could develop into a Zeisloft type of shooter imo.

I’ve stated this multiple times he doesn’t play defense. I’m not sure if it’s because he doesn’t want to or if it’s because his coach doesn’t want him to so he doesn’t get into foul trouble. As for who he plays against well they do play some solid small school teams that play solid defense even though he might only play against a couple of D1 kids throughout the season. The article I read said that he was usually one of the last players to leave the practice field all the way up until the day before he decided to transfer so it sounds like he’s willing to work. Purdue is a couple years away from competing for the top of the Big 10 due to the recruits that they get. This isn’t a negative for Painter it’s the reality of Purdue as a basketball program. They don’t get Caleb Swanigan’s every year. Most of the players he has success with are 4 year guys that get better every year. That’s what he has now outside of Edwards. Not necessarily a 2 QB system but how many teams play 1 QB the entire year. Not very many. Clemson and ND are both good examples. The reality is more than likely both guys will get time on the field.
