Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Stromboli replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think, with CAM, we're moving beyond the days of "dumping" players. CAM has stated that each guy brings value, and he's going to invest in them. Shows good leadership for the team and fanbase. If it means we have to eat a scholarship offer that doesn't pan out, then so be it. -

I'm not actually in the workouts, but do take interest in the information provided from the team. From what I see, I have to disagree with you. Those sand box workouts are an excellent way to strengthen all the ligaments and supporting muscles in your legs specifically to prevent injury. It gets them off the hardwood and out of their shoes, which provides more wear and more restriction on their movement. The sandbox stuff is really state-of-the-art stuff. They also do a lot of olympic weightlifting workouts, which--properly taught--are crucial to overall health. For example, a well coached squat (a$$ to grass) and deadlifts will make everything stronger, including knees, and make for a strong posterior chain (hamstrings, basically everything along the backside). This makes the strength more balanced and prevents the most common injuries. Combine in cleans/******/jumps and you get more explosive power coming from the hips. I know it seems like we get a lot of blown knees, but I really think this is a time that correlation does not imply causation. I'm not a huge fan of Lyonel Anderson's sideline antics, but I do think he does a very good job conditioning the team. -

Let's say Thomas goes. That makes us pretty shallow at the 5. We have a ton of guards, but no pure PG after Newkirk graduates. Some definite holes. Al Durham is still pretty heavily involved in all things IU on Instagram. I really think that after Justin Smith, he's going to take the next opening. That makes the Wright/Smith/Bamba odds look pretty long. -

Gave me goosebumps. Weird to have this much hope two weeks after this terrible season ended. -

This is giant. We've got some players. We're going to have a team! When can CAM start actually working with them? -

Grant Gelon just put an IU pic of himself shooting. Could be interpreted as an announcement that he's still committed to the program. Also the dudes seem to be enjoying their time in the gym together. DD posted with JBJ, McSwain and Green. Neat to see them all hanging out. -
His first name isnt Archie, it's Ryan. I didn't see anything.

We're getting trolled! Honestly when Collin Hartman had the "eyes" on his Instragram earlier today, I got the feeling we were being trolled. He was there at the gym with his buddies and they were just playing a game, fueling all this speculation. -

Just saw on MySpace that he's offered a coaching position to Tom Coverdale. -

Yeah JBJ's work right now is to prepare for pro ball. Nothing wrong with that; the dude has a dream to achieve. -

Yeah I hope JBJ stays. For heaven's sake he's one of the best players in the league. Why do people assume Gelon is leaving? Archie isn't pushing anyone out, and honestly we should follow his lead. Also, Gelon could be a Zeisloft type player. -
(2017) PG McKinley Wright to Colorado
Stromboli replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Hard to see his point guard abilities in that vid. But his stats speak for themselves, and he uses his body like an elite player. Compared to Tremont? Not the same level. But we need a PG, and I'm sure CAM is waaaay better at judging talent than me. Last thing. CuJo could make a big jump. He was nasty in high school, I think he has a lot more than we've seen. -

It's going to be a total culture change. He's not going to oversign. He's going to invest in the guys on the team. It is very meaningful that this extends out to the recruits for '17. Even they were already his, and he's going to take care of them first. Very easy to like him. Very easy to take pride in the kind of coach he wants to be, and the kind of program he wants to run. Like everyone else, I really appreciated not feeling like I was watching a commercial the whole time. No swarminess. -
Indiana Mens Basketball facebook page says they'll have it live at 3pm today.

This is great. Archie has been a hot name for open jobs for awhile. I'm ready to see IU play like a coached team. Guys Archie was the biggest name of coaches that would actually leave their current positions. I'm thrilled.

I choose to believe! Honestly I love there being media attention on the Donovan to IU thing. It brings legitimacy to the idea, and shows Donovan that the perception of a good fit is there. No one has mentioned that he would be bailing on OKC in any way. If he is waffling, then seeing the general newsiness of it also legitimizes (for him) how big the IU job is. I will say, I really enjoy that the IU job opening is such a big story.

This may be true, or maybe not. I still wish Dakich would show more restraint. IU needs some good headlines, not this crap.

First Tom Crean Interview Post-Indiana
Stromboli replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Totally normal for him to be bitter. It would be odd not to be bitter. I think you have to stretch to read this article and see him as a bad dude. He just got fired--very publicly--and now his family is going through the transition. If you can't be a little sympathetic to that then I have to wonder if you've had much life experience. Of course, on the flip side, he did fail. He's been paid, what, around $25 million to coach the Hoosiers? This season was a total train wreck. To keep him after this year would have been an acceptance by Hoosier Nation that we are ok with lower expectations. Good on Glass for making this move. -
Fife?? Get real. Glass made clear we're looking for a big time hire. Nothing against Fife, but that isn't he. We are looking for a great COACH. Teach a bunch of high school ballers to play at a high college level. You have to get a guy who has already proven that he knows the formula to do this. If we don't get BD, then I think we have to be expecting Marshall or Archie. Who else, realistically, would come? Bennett has a good situation. Sean Miller has a good situation. No one else really fills the requirements. I don't see Alford being the guy. He's been a coach for ages, and just hasn't shown the success that Glass laid out as a prerequisite.

They're completely obsessed with us. Their mantra is "Indiana isn't our rival," and yet they spend most of their time talking about us.

I hate all your guts.

Did anyone ask him where Billy is leaning?
