Jordan chose to commit to the in-state team and, as a freshman, helped them to their first Championship in 25 years. Let's hope Romeo wants to follow suit, and Be Like Mike.

Hmm. Maybe he's there today to get his shots done in uniform by the old center court wall, like Forrester. That way his commitment tweet will be looking all professional on Saturday. If this is real (there sure is a lot of smoke here), then we should all be thrilled. He's higher than any recruit since Deron Davis in November, 2015. Archie's highest commitment ever. Not to pick nits, but I don't recall anything said against Damezi. Total pleasant surprise when he committed, and I credit him with giving Archie some early legitimacy. And there have been a few reports of him recruiting for IU since he committed. Pumped to have him.

I still have people absolutely swearing by their information that it was very, very close to happening. Archie definitely feels like the right guy, now.

That's just Hoosier Guy's communication style. Confidence that everything will go as well as possible, best case scenario. For some reason it rubs some people the wrong way, but I don't think he means it like that. That's his positivity in the best case scenario of Romeo being so overwhelmed by his HH visit that he'll end the debate and commit. He was doing the same stuff when IU was in the coaching search, and Hoosier Guy posted daily with matter-of-fact statements that Billy Donovan was coming. When it didn't happen, Hoosier Guy was immediately on board with the positivity for Archie. Again, just his communication style. I don't think he's actually looking to debate the merits of a 5* waiting to commit.

Bryant with 5 assists and 4 steals in 16 minutes? That's fantastic. Only took 2 shots, but produced. Yogi is continuing with his excellent play. All the Mavericks articles are about the heralded Dennis Smith Jr debut, but Yogi still walked out an outperformed the rookie. It's funny, DSJ is being favored as the Rookie of the Year, before he's done a thing. Yogi actually performed like a Rookie of the Year, but didn't get any attention.

Lavar already blew Lamelo's eligibility by putting out that BBB shoe and having him star in a commercial. So whatever required courses and "book work" may have been standing in the way for him to play for UCLA are no longer an issue. I hope his homeschooling teaches him Russian or Chinese or French, since he's going to have to go somewhere for at least a year if he wants a career and shot at the NBA. Now he's just baggage, and will be uncoachable. At least he'll have his own signature shoe.

I'm with you, Iugradman. There's nothing to actually go off of here. I really enjoy the reports from our board locals that state he and his family are high character people. I'd LOVE for him to come be a Hoosier. But honestly, I don't NEED him to be a Hoosier. We've got a million things going on right now. Implementing a defense is going to have a far greater impact on IU ball than a recruit. I'm already invested in the 8 recruits (3 freshmen, 5 committed) we have that I've never seen play in crimson and cream. I don't want to overlook guys like Jerome and Justin. I don't have enough attention left in me after guys like Clifton are already showing up as projected first rounders. I'm with the rest of you, trying to guess how guard minutes get divided this year, and whether or not our backcourt can drive this team. I'm worried about what injuries may come about, and heaven forbid whether there's anything connecting us to this bribing stuff. I'm reading into Hurt's tweets with Race, and Trendon's seemingly lesser excitement about his Alabama visit. I want to know what Jake Forrester will show now that he is a featured part of his team. I wonder what we'll see out of Phinisee in his senior year. I'm gunshy after the Wilkes recruitment went south in a hurry last year. And finally, I'm effing devastated by the violence in Vegas. Romeo is an awesome talent, but I'm having a hard time getting too invested in the trickle of information we receive.

Yeah I've been thinking about this, too. Yes, Romeo has some Adidas connections. But you know what? By all accounts he was down to the two schools that he is geographically closest to. This is not the result of a bidding war. And I don't think Pitino would have to bid for the kid that lives in town, and wants to stay in town, or at least close. Add to that, Archie has garnered interest from a number of 5* recruits, but EVERY SINGLE ONE has some reason to look at the program. Hurt has his buddy here. Romeo is local. Garland has IU connections. Keion is local and his dad knows Schilling. Watford's family knows/loves IU. Any of these 5* guys that we showed interest in that didn't otherwise have interest in IU? No longer interested. We're not making runs at random OADs.

I'd love to stop talking about whether or not Crean was doing his job.
