That was maybe the worst throw I've ever seen by Hill

I didn't even attempt to sell my two tickets (decent - row 21) as I didn't think I would get $15 for the pair.

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA

We just need to ball out this year and the choice will be obvious. I'm highly confident we will do just that. -

What would you consider bad enough? UCLA is quickly approaching the territory where IU was at with Crean in that it will have no choice but to fire Alford to stave off a fanbase revolt. And similar to the situation with Crean, his buyout is pretty reasonable at this point. -
So apparently college basketball rules on number of steps doesn't apply to Duke? Have seen 3-4 travels that haven't been called in the 5 minutes I've watched.

IUBB vs U of Southern Indiana (Exhibition) - Thurs., 11/1
HoosierX replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Flexible lineup There will be very few regular season games in which every player enters the contest. But Crean used the exhibition to play everybody. “Tonight everybody played because they could,” Crean said. There wasn’t a lot of rhyme or reason to his decisions. He even let Claxton, a 6-foot-11 big man, take the ball up the court a few times. “It felt amazing [to take the ball up],” Claxton said. “Just having that trust from my teammates and my coaches being able to play my game and play free. I feel like that’s going to open up a lot of things for everybody else and myself.” -

You talk about a straw man and then use one in the next post. No one is arguing Patterson wasn't a good high school player but that's also not what anyone here cares about. We only care about whether these kids end up being good in college. Your logic regarding Patterson is basically that you saw him play a bunch of times in high school and thought he would be really good, he didn't turn out in college because of x, y, and z, so your assessment of his skills translating well to college basketball was still correct. So basically the only way anyone could even argue with you is if they saw him in high school. And honestly, would it kill you to say that your assessment of Gelon might have been slightly off? You could still follow that up with you think its possible he could have succeeded in a niche role in Crean's system. But at least it wouldn't seem so much like you view yourself as infallible. Edit: I should say that if Phinisee continues to play at this level then you deserve major kudos. It seems to me most of the people who "were on the Phinisee bandwagon this whole time" joined it because of you. -

I feel like there are some very strong opinions being formed based on a very limited sample size for Phinisee (obviously Old Friend is basing it on more than that). Let's see him against some real competition before we crown him. -

Certainly doesn't seem like he forged some sort of amazing relationship with Wilkes as he "got to hang out with him a little." -
Secret Scrimmage vs Loyola of Chicago

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2018/10/25/five-teams-snubbed-overrated-college-basketball-preseason-poll/1760944002/ If Loyola should be ranked, what does that say about us? I'm pretty convicted that we will finish the year in the top 15, barring injuries. -
Jeremiah April was in the same class as Robert Johnson and Priller the Thriller (and Emmitt Holt)...how the heck is he a junior?

Phinisee is a freshman who will make freshman mistakes. Green will get his chances. -

We don't need him to score though. If he can hit an open shot to prevent defenses from sagging too much, that is really all we need from him on offense. In one of the Illinois games he must have hit four jumpers and looked confident doing it. If he can get to that level a little more consistently, that is what we need. And honestly I think he's capable of it...just needs a bit more confidence this year. But his defense and intangibles are actually of even greater value with the talent around him because his offense really isn't needed. -
IU takes care of problem of empty student seats behind court

Now that I look again, it looks like buying something like season tickets for women's basketball would be the best deal for getting cumulative points. You can really get season tickets for $45? https://iuhoosiers.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3AINDIANA%3AWB18%3AWBS%3A&linkID=indiana&shopperContext=&pc=&caller=&appCode=&groupCode=WBSEA&cgc= -

Are you aware of the how the points system works for IU athletics? (asking honestly) The best ways to build up points that actually accumulate from year to year (IU wants big donors to donate every year so most donations only count for one year) include donating to the varsity club annually, buying season football tickets, and buying season basketball tickets. I was told two years of donating to varsity club and buying season football tickets may get me eligible for basketball tickets. https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/2015/4/1/priority-points.aspx -

You are looking purely at stats. It was very clear that Penix at least has an arm. But yes, Ramsey is clearly the answer. -

If your QB is consistently making the wrong read on the RPO, why keep calling an RPO? Is DeBord your uncle or something? -
I'm not sure Allen's opinion on when they might get him back means too much. He's just being optimistic.

Indiana not ranked in 2018 AP Preseason Poll

Carsen was also the number 1 seed in the entire bracket. Look, I don't care if he is the best player or second best player in the country...he's one player. They lost 4 starters and are not a top 25 team. -

Lol at Purdue being ranked 24th. We have a better team on paper and it's not close. These guys are clowns. -

I understand this sentiment and again would agree it's ideal, but in the end I think people are overstating its importance, even to themselves. (obviously a very subjective statement) As Yogi Berra said, "In theory, theory and practice are the same, in practice they are different." That is how I feel about this discussion. In the end (in practice) if we are winning big with an outsized portion of 5 star players, I think these concerns become secondary very quickly. In my mind, there's really only two questions that should ultimately matter: Is this recruit an upgrade over what we currently have on the roster? Will this recruit represent the university well? There is a secondary question as to whether playing time for a one and done stunts the development of a 3-4 year player, however, I think you could also argue that going against better talent in practice every day makes that player better. -

They key word was "winning" with 3 and 4 year players. All else being equal, I think people would rather win with players who stick around. But all things are not equal, and I agree with everything in your post. -

I agree with this. Look, I think we would all rather win with 3 and 4 year players than one and done rentals...however, I think we all want to win. As long as things are on the up and up, if we won a national championship with 4 one and done players, I don't think anyone is going to be writing Fred Glass letters.
