BTT Game Thread: IU vs. Michigan 3/10 - 11:30 am on BTN

All I want is for Parker Stewart to not play in the 2nd half. Honestly when was the last time he was a positive contributor in a game? -

This team is just straight up not good. At least half of these guys should not be on the team next year. -
It wasn't just the losses, it was the nature of the losses. OSU, Wisconsin, and Syracuse were all not close games. Just not what you would expect from a team that spent the most time at #1 that year.
-
I'm sorry but I don't think this tells the whole story here, and I'm not sure why we're starting from the beginning of February. We lost 3 out of our last 6 games of the regular season including a loss to a Minnesota team that had a losing record in the Big Ten and were basically dominated by Ohio State and Wisconsin at home. Neither game (OSU, Wiscy) was close and we lost to OSU by 9 and Wisconsin by 12 - at home to teams we were heavily favored to beat. Then we barely beat a Temple team who was basically just one player - Khalif Wyatt. Then we got curb stomped by Syracuse. I read a book called Missing Banners by Tom Brew (interesting book, dude desperately needs a proofreader), and he talked to Elston about that team who admitted that something was off with the team at the end of the year.
-
To be fair, that team played poorly almost the entire end of the year, and we were lucky to get by Temple in the round of 32.

To each their own, I wasn't commenting on their accomplishments or coaching abilities. I loved Crean at the beginning, even did a speech about him (very positive one) in my business presentations class (I want to say X-104?) at IU. Over time though, the sidelines antics, cutting down nets after a loss, the cue cards about 2-handed rebounds etc. drove me crazy. I know that stuff didn't bother everyone else as much as me, but personally I was embarrassed to have him on the sidelines. I can't prove this, but I also felt that hoky vibe was resonating outward regarding the IU program and its perception nationally.
-
I would take CAM over Crean in a heartbeat, simply because I wasn't embarrassed to have CAM on the sidelines. Tom Crean became a caricature of himself by the end of his time here.
-
Now that is some A+ message boarding.
-
I wonder what his buyout is...that man's agent should win a lifetime achievement award.

I really doubt you could show that though. I’m betting the majority of players improve year over year, al durham being one example. -
Agreed, I'd much rather play Wisconsin.

Not sure if they’re pretending or just don’t know. But smoking pot was rampant at the end of Knight’s tenure. I’m willing to bet it was before as well. And to be clear, I couldn’t care less about it. -

Mark Few and Jay Wright have proven they can win championships (yes I know Few hasn’t won yet) without us. They’re not coming to IU because, I mean, why would they? It has absolutely jack all to do with the fans. The fact that we’re not winning and are not an elite brand anymore is a huge reason why we’re no longer a top 5 job, but it has literally nothing to do with the fans. -

The problem with your line of thinking is that very likely, our fan base in terms of bad actors is really no different than others. If there are more of them, it’s simply because we have more fans. And yet other programs with large fanbases manage to be successful even though they have crazies on twitter too. Your issue, I would guess, is that you are mostly only exposed to our fanbase, so you think it is an IU problem. Statistically the idea that the personalities within our fanbase on a per capita basis is that different than others when you’re talking a population size of hundreds of thousands is just not very likely. -

Yes you say it over and over again. And honestly, you don’t have the first clue what you’re talking about. -

That's called "formal attire" in West Lafayette. -
You absolutely accept it for development purposes, but I will absolutely not go out of my way to watch them. I could see us struggling in the NIT. We've proven that we're good enough to be in the tournament while also proving we don't deserve to be in it. But I could see the guys not having a lot of motivation.

I can’t say anything for sure, but your alma mater, which may have the deepest pockets in all of sports, opens up. On top of that, he is divorced but still has children that live in Texas. He wasn’t going to end up anywhere but Texas. Maybe we should have asked but have some common sense, he wasn’t going to end up here. -

I can tell you Beard certainly wasn’t going to end up here. His alma mater opened up and he still has family in Texas. -

How many games have we lost this year when we were up by 10 or more at some point? -

Honestly when it was close at the end, did anyone on this board think we were going to win? So predictable. As good as Race and Trayce are, neither is remotely clutch. -

Anyone know if we'll have our full roster for the game? -

This is a take that is too simplified. First of all the sample size is small. Second, the other team’s game plan is all about stopping tjd. Obviously that will change when he is no longer there. -

When it comes to winning time, this team is literally incapable of making plays. Up four with a minute left - next 4 possessions - Race TO, two prayers from Bates and a prayer from XJ to end the game. -
I’m sorry but I completely disagree with your first point and could very easily make the same point using your exact logic. What do you gain by pressing down 15 with 25 seconds left? You’re not going to win and you’re not going to learn much pressing players at the end of the opposing team’s bench. If you’re going to do it, don’t get pissed when the other team calls a timeout
