    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Why wouldn't you include Kopp here? By all accounts he's a gym rat. He was also probably the most vocal player on the team. I don't think he's a Big Ten level starter, but not sure what else you want from him as a teammate.

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to O$U via Indiana

Going to have to agree with Cupps there, should have been an and 1.
  3. This is a post that I can absolutely get behind. The travel schedule was not ideal and probably had an impact on the game. However, no one could possibly know or quantify what that impact was. Maybe, just maybe we got beat by a better team and that's the main story. I'm just not a big fan of "woe is me, we got screwed" attitude, it's just not a winning attitude in any aspect of life. It seems to me like people have created a no lose situation in which if we won, awesome, if we lose, it's not our fault because of the travel schedule. We made the tournament and won a game, the year was a success and we now have some momentum. But it ended when we lost to a better team.
  4. Then show me the stats. I bet any effect is very minor, but please prove otherwise. And this wasn’t even a back to back as happens in the NBA. They still could have gotten a full night’s sleep in between.
  5. And what the hell does that matter? Honestly, what does it matter whatsoever if the opposing coach acknowledges our travel schedule? If he hadn’t acknowledged it it would somehow be different? Of course he’s going to say something like that. When you win by 30 it’s obvious it didn’t affect the outcome. You think he would have brought that up if they won by 2? Again, what were the actual consequences? There’s no reason these kids couldn’t have gotten a full night’s sleep last night.
  6. I already said it’s not ideal, but what were the actual consequences? They we’re still able to get a full night’s sleep. Have you guys never had to work on less than full sleep? I do it all the time, it’s not ideal but I do my job. And do you guys think these guys are well rested on game day for every game? They’re college kids. Half the team was willing to break curfew to get high before the NW game. You think that was the first time? I almost guarantee it wasn’t, just the first time they got caught. It’s just an excuse that was going to be used no matter what if we lost. If we would have won no one would have said a damn thing about it.
  7. I’m already so sick of this excuse. College kids can play 3 or 4 days in a row with no sign of fatigue during the conference tournaments, nba players can play on back to back nights and yet can somehow handle it. Yet it’s somehow impossible for 18-22 year old kids to be be able to play a game after only being somewhere for 36 hours. I’m not sayin it was ideal or that it didn’t have some effect on the game. But any effect would be minor. We just played really poorly, and it’s really just that simple.
  8. I mean you saw the score right?
  9. Older? The average age of our starting five is like 26.
  10. Woodson is not a good in-game coach, plain and simple. He better recruit really, really well or we’ll be looking for a new coach in a few years.
  11. Dear lord Kopp didn’t even attempt to grab that rebound. He offers nothing.
  12. How long has XJ been on the bench?
  13. Agreed he shouldn’t be shooting.

    Parker Stewart

Can someone please explain to me why Parker Stewart played 37 minutes tonight? He's now 5-27 from 3 in our last 8 games. I will give him credit for playing decent defense and not fouling against Maldanado, but he got beat off the dribble often and Maldanado could have had more than 21 if he'd hit a few more shots when he was backing Stewart down close to the bucket. I understand the concept of spacing, but put a guy like Bates in and it's not as if teams are going to sag off of him. Plus Bates is dynamic enough to get past a defender off the dribble if they overplay the three, which Stewart can't do. I also thought Bates played excellent defense the few minutes he was in. Most of our best runs in the BTT were when Stewart was on the bench, and I don't understand why we don't go with what has proven to work lately. I'm very happy we won but Wyoming is honestly just not that good. In my mind, we have very little chance of advancing if Stewart is playing major minutes.

Absolutely Duke, the resumes were not even comparable.

The Mountain West is not good. My betting strategy has been based on that after watching the IU Wyoming game in which we played poorly and beat them by 8.

    Gambling

I really wanted to bet on Michigan because I think the Mountain West is really overrated but Davante Jones being out is too big of a wild card.
  18. Ha yeah it looked like a travel live and then the replay erased any doubt.
  19. I'm sure it's already been discussed in this thread, but how epic was Geronimo's block where he just grabbed the ball out of the air?

    Parker Stewart

He shot 8/16 - since when is 50% from the field awful? Look, I already said he had a good night defensively, and I'll even admit that at least 7 of the points that I remember weren't again him (Race went about 5 feet under a screen that gave him a wide open 3, one drive was against Phinisee, and one drive against TJD). My point on a few of the TOs is that when an offensive player has minimal pressure on him and throws a terrible pass, it's just a terrible offensive play, not a credit to the defender. And I don't disagree with your point about team defense, but it doesn't make a ton of sense IMO to give credit to his individual defensive performance while also accounting for negative plays as being "on the team." I think people are being over the top saying we don't win that game without Parker. If that's actually true we are in trouble, because Wyoming just isn't that good. Utah State is in the MW and played a lower seeded Oregon team in the NIT last night and got shellacked. Wyoming beat them by two each time they played them.

    Parker Stewart

I think you guys are turning a solid night defensively by Parker Stewart into some sort of "superhuman" effort, which it wasn't. He didn't have any steals and several of those turnovers by Maldanado were unforced Several times players were digging down to help out Parker on Maldanado and those resulted in threes Maldanado got by Parker several times off the dribble and dished the ball for assists Fouled a 3 point shooter at the end of the game Maldanado scored 21 points, many of them against Parker And he offers nothing offensively besides "spacing." But again, put someone like Bates out there and you're not going to lose much from a spacing perspective while also gaining someone who has ability to put the ball on the floor and get around his defender. Parker is also missing badly on his threes which are leading to run outs on the other end. We won the game, which is all that matters, however I hope Parker gets a lot less run next game. Our ceiling is highest with him on the bench.

    Parker Stewart

Kopp played 21 minutes, Thompson 20, and Galloway 12. We just played the best we played all year with Stewart mainly on the bench in the BTT, and tonight he plays 37 minutes. He offers damn near nothing on offense at this point, and is a below average defender most nights.
  23. HoosierX

    Parker Stewart

I don't agree, Bates played excellent defense the minutes he was in as well. And some of Maldanado's poor play was just poor execution vs. great defense by Stewart. Like I said, Stewart did a good job keeping Maldanado in front of him and not fouling, but he still had 21 points. I don't understand the whole "we don't win this game without him" because we can also win by scoring points, which Parker doesn't help us do.
  24. Really gd happy I didn’t take the over.
  25. Me too, I literally can’t handle it.
