  1. Jallow is 50 on 247's on in-house rankings. It's not clear from the article linked what major services contribute to 247's Composite, but Jallow is ranked 85 on Rivals, 95 on Scout, and a four-star on both. The issue might be with ESPN, which should probably lose its status as a major service at this point. As noted above, ESPN has two different profiles, one for a Musa Jallow and one for a Musa Jalloh. The former has him graded at 80, which would be in the 100-150 range, while the latter has him graded at 85, which would rank him in the 60's. But ESPN also hasn't updated their 2018 rankings from a top 60 to a top 100 yet, which means they haven't updated their ranking of the 2018 class in a good long while. It also means Jallow currently gets a big fat Not Ranked from ESPN, which is the only reason I can think why his Composite would be in the 140's. ESPN stopped caring about college basketball recruiting a long time ago, and their reliability has been going downhill for years. If this is what has affected Jallow's profile, it might be worth considering this variable when looking at the profiles of other Indiana targets. Until ESPN starts updating, the in-house rankings on 247 might be more reliable than the composite.

(2017) PG McKinley Wright to Colorado

Crystal Ball picks aren't worth much. The system gives participants points based on a correct pick, and gives you more points the earlier that pick was made. There's no penalty for switching your pick, so the incentive is pick a school as early as possible based on your best guess at the time, and change it when you have more information. Jerry Meyer does this all the time. He'll switch a pick from one school to another, not because he thinks the recruit will commit to the new pick, but to get away from the previous school. Meyer switched Wilkes from Indiana to Michigan when he heard information that led him to believe Wilkes wouldn't be coming here. He had to change that pick again just a few weeks later when Michigan didn't even make Wilkes' top five. Meyer wasn't picking Michigan based on any inside information; he was just picking a new school because he had to pick someone, anyone, after his original pick was no longer likely. So the path of least resistance is to pick Indiana for McKinley Wright, because that's where the coach who recruited him is now located. It's the best guess for someone on the outside looking in, someone who has no inside information about Indiana basketball, Indiana recruiting, or even Indiana scholarship numbers. You can always change your pick later when there's more information available. And of course, if you see the herd moving in one direction, it never hurts to follow along with your own prediction. Unless the analyst can tell you why he made his pick, the Crystal Ball is meaningless.
  3. Before anyone freaks out, check out Jerry Meyer's twitter account. The Crystal Ball pick for Villanova was literally in response to someone tweeting him the Zagsblog article from ten days ago, which national recruiting expert Jerry Meyer apparently hadn't even yet seen. Within minutes of that tweet exchange, he switched from Syracuse to Villanova. Given that timeline of events, I doubt he has any information on Tucker to Villanova, or much of any information on Tucker at all. I presume the purpose of his switch was only to get off Syracuse, same as when he switched Wilkes from Indiana to Michigan just to get off Indiana, then Michigan didn't even make Wilkes final five.
